About Pokémon Rugs
Gotta catch the right rug
Pokémon has been part of childhood, and then adulthood, for three decades. It began with Pokémon Red and Green in Japan in February 1996; the trading card game followed that year, the anime in 1997, and by the time the games and cards reached the rest of the world the phenomenon was unstoppable. Today there are more than a thousand species, and almost everyone has a favorite: the one they picked as a starter, the one that carried their team, the one they still carry as a keyring.
A Pokémon rug lets that favorite live on the floor of your room. Ours are printed into short velvet, which suits Pokémon art perfectly: the clean outlines, bold flat colors and expressive faces of Ken Sugimori's original style come out crisp, and many designs are die-cut so the rug is the Pokémon itself rather than a picture of one. They go in the washing machine, which matters whether the room belongs to an eight-year-old or a thirty-eight-year-old. Below you'll find the Pokémon with pages of their own, ideas for kids' rooms, game rooms and collectors' shelves, and the sizes that fit each spot.
Pokémon by name
The Pokémon people search for most each have their own page:
- Gengar, the grinning Ghost-type, the most searched Pokémon rug of all and a favorite of older fans who love its mischief.
- Snorlax, the sleeping giant who blocked the road in the original games, perfect for a bedroom or a lazy-Sunday living room.
- Charizard, the Fire- and Flying-type that every kid in the 1990s wanted, and the most famous card in the game.
- Pikachu, the Electric-type mouse who became the face of the whole franchise.
- Eevee, whose eight evolutions, from Vaporeon and Umbreon to Sylveon, give fans endless favorites.
- Poké Ball, the red-and-white symbol everyone recognizes, made for a round rug.
Every other Pokémon design is on this page; type a name into the search in the filter to find Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Ditto, Mimikyu, Lucario or your own favorite.
Your starter, on the floor
Every Pokémon journey begins with a choice of three. In the original games it was Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle, and fans still define themselves by that first pick decades later. A rug of your starter, or of its final evolution, is one of the most personal Pokémon designs you can choose: a reminder of the first save file. If you are buying for someone else, it is also the question that tells you the most about them.
Legendaries and mythicals
Legendary Pokémon, Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Rayquaza and the rest, are the poster creatures of each generation: rare, powerful and designed to look spectacular. They make bold, dramatic rugs that suit a game room or a teenager's bedroom. Their art often carries sweeping wings, glowing energy and deep backgrounds, which print beautifully on velvet.
Die-cut Pokémon
Pokémon designs are some of the best die-cut rugs we make, because the creatures were designed to be recognizable from their silhouette alone. A shaped Snorlax lying on the floor, a Gengar grinning up from beside the bed, a Poké Ball by the door: with no background around them, they read as a character in the room rather than a print. Shaped rugs want open floor where the whole outline can be seen, so place them in the middle of a room or in front of a desk rather than half under a bed. More are in shaped rugs.
A Pokémon bedroom
For children, a Pokémon bedroom is a classic, and a rug is the anchor of it. Let your child choose their favorite, then build the room's colors from it: Pikachu yellow and red, Squirtle blue, Bulbasaur green, Gengar purple. A 4×6 ft rug in the open floor or a 2.6×3.9 ft rug beside the bed gives the room its theme without a single sticker on the wall. On hard floors, choose Standard, whose non-slip faux leather back keeps the rug in place when kids run across it; on carpet, Premium's 7 mm plush velvet is softer to sit on.
For adults, the trick is restraint. One well-chosen Pokémon, a die-cut Gengar, a sleeping Snorlax, a Poké Ball, in an otherwise grown-up bedroom feels like a nod to childhood rather than a themed room.
Game rooms and trainer setups
Pokémon fans often play more than the video games: the trading card game, Pokémon GO, collecting plush and figures. A Pokémon rug under the gaming chair or in front of the card-collection shelf makes a trainer's corner of the house. Under a rolling chair, pick Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft. For playing the card game itself, look at our Pokémon playmats; the rug is for the room around the table.
Types and colors
Pokémon's eighteen types each have their own color language, which makes matching a room easy. Ghost and Poison Pokémon like Gengar bring deep purples that look great with black furniture and soft lamplight. Fire types, Charizard and friends, bring warm orange and red that suit wood tones. Water types bring blues for a calm bedroom; Grass types greens for a room with plants. Electric types like Pikachu bring a cheerful yellow that brightens a north-facing room.
Pokémon in a shared living room
Not every Pokémon fan has a room of their own to decorate. In a shared living room, choose the subtler side of the franchise: a Poké Ball as a round rug, a pattern of type symbols, a single small Pokémon in a corner of an otherwise calm design. It says "Pokémon fan" to anyone who knows, and simply looks cheerful to everyone else, including the housemates who never played a single game.
For collectors
Many adult fans collect cards, plush and figures, and the rug can frame that collection: a Poké Ball rug in front of a display shelf, a Charizard rug beneath framed graded cards, an Eevee rug in a room full of Eeveelution plush. Keep the rug's palette close to the collection's so the display stays the star. A washable rug also means the area in front of the shelves, where you kneel to sort binders and boxes, stays clean and comfortable for years of collecting.
Pokémon carpets, bath mats and door mats
What about a Pokémon carpet, bath mat or door mat? Our rugs are indoor velvet area rugs: a "Pokémon carpet" in the sense of a rug you lay on the floor or over wall-to-wall carpet is exactly what we make. They aren't designed as bath mats for wet floors beside a shower, or as outdoor door mats exposed to rain; inside the front door, though, a Standard Poké Ball or Pikachu rug makes a cheerful welcome.
Pokémon nurseries
Gentle Pokémon, a sleeping Snorlax, a curled-up Eevee, a smiling Pikachu, suit a nursery surprisingly well, and they grow with a child better than many baby themes. Choose Premium for its softer velvet beside the crib, and a calmer design rather than a battle scene, in soft colors that will still suit the room when the crib becomes a bed.
Sizes and levels
| Where | Size that usually fits | Level |
|---|---|---|
| Beside a bed | 2×3 or 2.6×3.9 ft | Premium |
| Middle of a kid's room | 4×6 ft | Standard on hard floors |
| Under a gaming chair | 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft | Standard |
| Poké Ball by the door | A round rug, 2.6 to 3.9 ft (80 to 120 cm) | Standard |
| Living room or game room centerpiece | 5×7 ft or a large shaped rug | Premium |
A Poké Ball by the door is the easiest way to start, and it works for fans of every generation.
Rugs for every generation
One reason Pokémon rugs suit so many people is that each generation of the games has its own fans. Players who started with Red and Blue tend to love the original 151, Gengar, Snorlax, Charizard, Eevee; later generations brought new favorites like Lucario, Sylveon and Mimikyu, while older ones such as Umbreon grew more popular with every year. If you are buying for someone, ask which game they started with; it usually tells you which Pokémon they care about most, and which one would make them smile every morning.
Care
Pokémon rugs go in the washing machine on a gentle cycle with cold water; let them air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The print is in the fibers rather than on top, so it keeps its color wash after wash. More rugs from the same worlds are in anime and manga rugs and gaming rugs.
Gifts for trainers of every age
A Pokémon rug is a birthday present that a seven-year-old and a thirty-year-old will be equally excited about. If you don't know the room, a die-cut favorite in the 3.4 ft (105 cm) range or a 2.6×3.9 ft rectangle fits almost anywhere. Each rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
A note on Pokémon
Pokémon Day
February 27 is Pokémon Day, the anniversary of Pocket Monsters Red and Green, which launched in Japan in 1996. Each year it brings announcements, events and celebrations around the world. A Pokémon rug ordered for that date, or for the anniversary of the year you got your first game, makes a meaningful gift for a lifelong trainer.

FAQ
Questions about Pokémon Rugs
Which Pokémon rugs do you have?
Gengar, Snorlax, Charizard, Pikachu, Eevee and Poké Ball rugs each have their own page, and every other Pokémon design is in this collection. Use the search in the filter to find a character.
Which Pokémon rug is searched for most?
Gengar is the most searched, followed by Snorlax. Both work especially well as die-cut rugs shaped like the Pokémon itself.
Do you have a Poké Ball rug?
Yes. The Poké Ball has its own page and suits a round rug by a door, under a swivel chair or in front of a card-collection shelf.
Are Pokémon rugs good for a kid's bedroom?
Yes. They are soft and machine washable. On hard floors, choose Standard, whose non-slip faux leather back keeps the rug in place during play.
Can I play the Pokémon card game on a rug?
For playing, use a Pokémon playmat; the rug is for the room around the table, under a chair or in front of the collection.
Are Pokémon rugs machine washable?
Yes. Wash on a gentle cycle with cold water and let the rug air dry flat.
Will a Pokémon rug slip on a wooden floor?
Not in Standard: its non-slip faux leather back grips hard floors. Premium's bamboo and cotton back is not non-slip, so on a smooth floor add a rug pad underneath.
Is this official Pokémon merchandise?
No. Every Pokémon-inspired design on this page is our own art; Padrift isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, Game Freak, Creatures or The Pokémon Company.
