About Berserk Rugs
The Black Swordsman
Berserk is the life's work of Kentaro Miura, who began it in 1989 and drew it with astonishing detail for more than three decades, until his death in 2021. It is now continued by his close friend Kouji Mori and his assistants at Studio Gaga, following the story Miura shared with them. It follows Guts, a mercenary born from a corpse, raised in war and marked for death by demons, who carries a sword far too big to be a sword and fights on against an unbearable fate.
Berserk is brutal, but it's also one of the most moving stories in manga, about friendship, ambition, betrayal and the stubborn will to keep living. Its influence is everywhere: game creators including the makers of Dark Souls have spoken of its impact. A Berserk rug is decor for readers who know what it means to keep going. Ours are printed into short velvet, so Miura's dense crosshatching, deep blacks and fine detail come out with real depth, and they go in the washing machine.
The Brand of Sacrifice
The Brand of Sacrifice, a simple mark like a stylized figure or an inverted cross, burned into Guts's neck, is the series' most recognizable symbol. It bleeds when demons are near, and it marks those offered to the Godhand. Red on black, it's stark, graphic and instantly known to any reader. On a round rug, or cut to its own outline through our shaped rugs, it makes one of the most powerful manga designs there is, simple enough for a modern room.
The Dragon Slayer
Famously described as too big to be called a sword, the Dragon Slayer, the enormous slab of iron Guts carries on his back, is one of the most famous weapons in fiction. Its blunt, massive silhouette makes a bold design on a long rectangle or a shaped rug. Guts himself, in his black cloak with the Dragon Slayer and his iron cannon arm, standing against a red sky, is the most iconic Berserk rug.
The Golden Age
For many fans, Berserk means the Golden Age arc: Guts's years with the Band of the Hawk, the mercenary company led by the beautiful, ambitious Griffith, and his bond with Casca, the Hawks' fierce commander. It's a story of warfare, camaraderie and dreams, told so well that readers know how it ends and still hope it won't. A Band of the Hawk design, the company's banner or the Hawks around a campfire, is a nostalgic choice for readers who loved those chapters most. The 1997 anime and the Golden Age film trilogy brought this arc to the screen.
Griffith
Griffith, the white-haired leader of the Hawks, is one of manga's most complex and controversial characters. His white armor, his hawk helmet and his dream of a kingdom of his own make him visually striking, and his later transformation darker still. A Griffith design is elegant and unsettling, a choice for fans who find the villain as compelling as the hero.
Casca
Casca, the Hawks' commander, a brilliant swordswoman who rose from a peasant girl to Griffith's right hand, is the emotional center of the story, and her bond with Guts is its heart. Fans who love her often choose a design from the Golden Age, Casca in her armor with her sword drawn, or the two of them together on a hillside at dusk, a tender image in a story that has very few.
The Skull Knight
The Skull Knight, a skeletal warrior in ornate armor riding a skeletal horse, appears at the most desperate moments to guide or rescue Guts, and his identity is one of the series' great mysteries. His design is one of Miura's most beautiful: menacing, regal and strangely noble. A Skull Knight rug, the rider against a full moon, is a striking choice for a dark room, and a favorite of readers who love the series' mythology. Nosferatu Zodd, the winged, horned apostle who fights Guts again and again, is another favorite for a bold design.
The Behelit
A Behelit is a small, egg-shaped stone with a twisted human face, eyes, nose and mouth all out of place. It's the key that summons the Godhand, and it's one of the eeriest objects in fiction. A Behelit design, a single stone on a dark ground, is an understated, deeply unsettling rug, perfect for a fan with a dark sense of humor.
The ink
Miura's art is the reason many readers stayed: castles drawn brick by brick, armor etched rivet by rivet, crowds of demons, landscapes of extraordinary scale, all in black ink with endless crosshatching. A black-and-white Berserk rug, a full manga page or a single panel blown up to floor size, is one of the most sophisticated anime rugs you can own. It looks like a fine engraving, and it suits a study, a library or a minimalist room with white walls and dark wood.
The later arcs
After the Golden Age, Guts's world grows stranger. He travels with an unlikely group: Puck, the tiny, cheerful elf who provides comic relief and healing dust; Isidro, the reckless thief; Farnese and Serpico; and Schierke, the young witch who teaches Guts about magic. Their journey to the island of Elfhelm brings sea voyages, magic and moments of real peace. A Puck design is the friendliest Berserk rug, and a scene of the group at sea is a calmer, more hopeful choice.
The Berserker Armor
The Berserker Armor, the cursed black plate that turns Guts into a beast with a wolf-like helm, is one of the most intimidating designs in manga. Its jagged, black silhouette makes a dramatic rug for a dark gaming room or a man cave, with red lighting to match the eyes behind the visor.
A note on the content
Berserk is a mature story, with extreme violence and very dark themes. It isn't for children, and many of its most famous images aren't suitable for every home. The good news is that its most iconic symbols are simple: the Brand of Sacrifice, the Dragon Slayer, the Behelit, the Hawks' banner, Puck. Those make powerful designs without anything graphic, and they're the right choice for a shared space.
For collectors
Berserk has some of the most devoted collectors in manga. In English, the deluxe hardcover editions, collecting three volumes at a time in a larger format, have become prized shelf pieces, and figures of Guts, Griffith and the Skull Knight are serious investments. A rug in front of the collection frames it like a gallery, and a calm black-and-white or Brand design keeps the attention on the shelves.
Susumu Hirasawa's music
Susumu Hirasawa's songs for the Berserk anime and games, with their strange, soaring vocals and electronic textures, are beloved by fans and inseparable from the series' mood. A Berserk rug in a music corner or a listening room is a fitting tribute.
Colors and rooms
Berserk's palette is stark: black, steel grey, bone white and blood red, with the gold of a sunset or the Hawks' banners for warmth. That makes it easy to style. Pair a Berserk rug with black or dark wood furniture, white or charcoal walls and one red accent. In a study, a black-and-white manga-page design beside shelves of the deluxe editions looks like a gallery piece.
Soulslike and seinen shelves
Berserk fans often love what it inspired. If your shelf holds Dark Souls, Elden Ring or Bloodborne, you'll see Berserk's shadow in their armor and their fallen kingdoms. Readers of serious manga will also like our Vinland Saga and Vagabond pages, and every series is in our anime rugs.

Gifts for strugglers
Fans call those who fight against fate "strugglers", and a Berserk rug is a gift that honors that. If you aren't sure which design to choose, the Brand of Sacrifice is the safest; every reader knows it. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Vacuum on a low setting each week, blot spills with cold water straight away and wash the rug on a gentle, cold cycle when it needs it; let it air dry flat. The design is printed into the fibers, so the ink stays black.
A note on the series
Puck and the lighter moments
For all its darkness, Berserk has a small, winged elf named Puck, who joins Guts on the road and turns into a round, chibi-faced joker whenever the story needs to breathe. He heals with the dust from his wings and wears a chestnut shell as armor in the later arcs. A rug of Puck in a chestnut, or flying in a little circle of light, is a gentle, funny design that suits a fan's bedroom or a gift for someone who loves the series but not its grimmest pages.
Puck designs also soften a room built around the series' darker art, giving balance to a shelf of heavy volumes and armor figures.

FAQ
Questions about Berserk Rugs
What is the most iconic Berserk rug design?
The Brand of Sacrifice, the red mark on Guts's neck. Guts with the Dragon Slayer against a red sky is the defining character design.
Can I get the Brand of Sacrifice cut to its shape?
Yes. The Brand of Sacrifice can be cut to its own jagged outline, in blood red on black, from 2.6×2.6 ft (80×80 cm) to 5.2×5.9 ft (160×180 cm) across.
Is there an elegant Berserk design for a study?
A black-and-white manga page or panel in Miura's ink style. It looks like a fine engraving and suits a library or study.
Is a Berserk rug suitable for a shared or family room?
Choose a symbol such as the Brand, the Dragon Slayer, the Behelit or Puck. The story is very mature, so avoid graphic scenes in shared spaces.
Does this page cover the Golden Age arc?
Yes. It covers the whole story, from the Band of the Hawk and the Golden Age to Puck, Schierke and the voyage to Elfhelm.
Which Berserk rug goes under a gaming chair?
Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft. Guts and the Dragon Slayer in black and steel gray look right under a dark desk, and the faux leather back stops the rug from sliding as the chair moves.
How do I wash a Berserk rug?
Gently: a cold machine cycle, then dry it flat. The black, bone white and blood red are printed into the velvet fibers rather than on top, so they stay stark wash after wash.
Is this official Berserk merchandise?
No. Our Brand, Dragon Slayer and Eclipse designs are inspired by the manga; Padrift isn't affiliated with Studio Gaga, Hakusensha or the estate of Kentaro Miura.
