About Hunter x Hunter Rugs
A boy, a fishing rod and a father to find
Gon Freecss is twelve, grew up on a quiet island and has just one goal: to become a Hunter, an elite licensed adventurer, so he can track down the father who left to become one. On the way he meets a sharp-tongued boy from a family of assassins, a vengeful survivor and a would-be doctor, and their adventures grow darker and stranger than anyone expects. Hunter x Hunter is one of the most admired shōnen series ever written. A Hunter x Hunter-inspired rug brings its world into a room: a six-sided chart of aura types, a glass of water with a single leaf, a Hunter license with your own name, blue lightning or silver chains on black. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine.

The Nen hexagon makes a natural round rug, with all six types around the center, while blue lightning suits a fan of Killua.
The series
Hunter x Hunter is written and drawn by Yoshihiro Togashi, also the creator of YuYu Hakusho, and has run in Weekly Shōnen Jump since 1998, famously with long breaks between chapters. It has been adapted into two anime series, the second, from 2011 to 2014 at the studio Madhouse, widely regarded as one of the best anime ever made. Its story moves from the dangerous Hunter Exam to an underworld auction city, a deadly video game world and a terrifying war against a race of insect-like creatures, each arc changing tone and stakes.
The Nen hexagon
The series has one of the most beloved power systems in manga: Nen, the ability to control one's own life energy. Every user falls into one of six types, Enhancement, Transmutation, Emission, Conjuration, Manipulation and Specialization, usually drawn around a hexagon to show which types are close to each other. A Nen hexagon rug, the six types in different colors around a central point, is a clever, graphic design that fans love, and it works beautifully on a round rug. Our round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across.
Water divination
To discover their Nen type, characters place a leaf on a glass of water and focus their aura: if the water overflows, changes color or the leaf moves, it reveals their type. A minimalist rug of a single glass of water with a floating leaf is a subtle, elegant design for a study or a calm room, and an insider's nod to the series.
Your own Hunter license
Passing the Hunter Exam earns you a license card that opens almost any door in the world. A Hunter license rug of our own design, with your name and an ID number, is one of the most fun custom pieces we make, perfect for a dorm room or a gift. Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′.
Lightning
Gon's best friend, the white-haired heir of an assassin family, turns his aura into electricity, crackling with blue lightning. A blue lightning rug on black is an energetic design for a gaming setup or a teen's room, especially with blue RGB lighting. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², which stays put and lets the wheels roll. For more, see our gaming rugs.
Chains
The last survivor of a clan known for eyes that turn scarlet with emotion fights with chains conjured from his aura. A rug of heavy silver chains coiled on black, with a single scarlet accent, is a striking, gothic design for an anime fan's bedroom.
Game cards
In one arc, the characters are trapped inside a dangerous video game where everything, from items to spells, takes the form of numbered cards collected in a binder. A card-grid rug, rows of numbered cards with symbols of our own design, is a fun design for a game room or a collector's den.
Whale Island
Gon grew up on a small, green island, fishing in the forest lakes with his rod. A peaceful island forest with a fishing rod and a lake is a calm, nature-filled design for a bedroom, a gentle contrast to the series' darker arcs.
Hunters of every kind
In the series, Hunters specialize: there are treasure Hunters, beast Hunters, gourmet Hunters, archaeologist Hunters, bounty-tracking blacklist Hunters and many more. A custom license that names your own specialty, a gourmet Hunter for the family chef, a book Hunter for a reader or a code Hunter for a programmer, makes a funny, personal gift.
A friendship at the center
Beneath the battles, the heart of the story is the friendship between Gon and Killua, two boys from opposite worlds who change each other forever. For best friends or siblings who love the series, a split rug in green and electric blue is a sweet, subtle tribute to that bond.
The exam tunnel
The first phase of the Hunter Exam is an endurance test: hundreds of applicants following an examiner through a seemingly endless underground tunnel. A custom runner up to 10 ft long, a dim stone tunnel stretching into the distance, turns a hallway into the first test. Choose Standard, which stays put as people walk by.
Pairing with furniture
These rugs suit focused, uncluttered anime rooms: a desk with a good chair, a shelf of manga volumes and figures, plants and a single color accent pulled from the rug, green, blue or scarlet.
For older fans
Hunter x Hunter starts out light but becomes intense and sometimes violent in its later arcs. These designs suit teens and adults best; the island forest, the fishing rod and the license card are the gentlest choices for younger fans.
Anime bedrooms
For a fan, a Nen hexagon or lightning rug is the centerpiece of an anime bedroom. Pair it with a figure shelf, a few framed prints of your own and color-coordinated bedding. On a hard floor, choose Standard so the rug stays put. For a softer bedroom rug, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m². Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.
Dorms
A custom Hunter license or Nen hexagon rug brings instant personality to a dorm room. Choose Standard on hard dorm floors.
Entryways
Just inside the front door, a small license-card or water-glass rug is a quiet nod for visiting fans. Keep it indoors, out of the weather, and choose Standard for its grip on tile and wood.
Colors
Hunter x Hunter-inspired designs look best in Gon's green, Killua's electric blue and white, Kurapika's silver and scarlet, and the six bright colors of the Nen chart on black or cream.

Gifts
A Hunter x Hunter-inspired rug makes a great gift for an anime fan, especially a custom license card with their name. A Nen hexagon is the most recognizable choice for long-time fans.

Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the aura colors stay bright, wash after wash.
Yorknew, Greed Island and the Chimera Ants
After the Hunter Exam, the story moves through arcs that each feel like a different genre. In Yorknew City, the Phantom Troupe, a band of thieves who wear a numbered spider tattoo, plans to rob a mafia auction, and Kurapika's quest for revenge reaches its climax. Then Gon and Killua enter Greed Island, a deadly video game made real, where players collect cards in a binder of one hundred numbered slots.
The Chimera Ant arc that follows is darker and longer, a war against a new species led by its king, Meruem. Its most unforgettable scenes are quiet ones: the king playing Gungi, a fictional board game, against Komugi, a blind girl who is the world champion, and slowly learning what it means to be human.
Each arc offers designs that don't need a face. A spider emblem with a number on its back nods to the Phantom Troupe, a grid of numbered card slots recalls Greed Island, and a Gungi board, its pieces scattered mid-game on wood, is a beautiful, thoughtful rug for a study. A city skyline at night, lit by auction-house searchlights, captures Yorknew's crime-drama mood.
Yoshihiro Togashi's manga began in 1998 and has continued, with long breaks, ever since, and the 2011 anime by Madhouse adapted it up to the Election arc. Fans who have followed it for years often treasure the smaller details most, so a rug built on the Gungi board or the card binder makes a meaningful gift.
Pair any of these with deep greens and blues, the colors of Gon and Killua's adventures, and a shelf of manga volumes, and the room feels ready for the next exam.
For collectors of the Greed Island arc, a rug of the card binder with a few slots filled is a sly nod that only fans will understand.
Fans of the Gungi board will spot it instantly, too.
