About Cowboy Bebop Rugs
Space, jazz and bounty hunters
In the year 2071, a crew of broke, mismatched bounty hunters drifts through the solar system on a battered spaceship, chasing criminals and running from their pasts, all to a soundtrack of jazz, blues and rock. Cowboy Bebop is one of the coolest and most influential anime ever made, often the first series that convinced Western viewers anime could be art. A Cowboy Bebop-inspired rug brings its style into a room: saxophones and records floating through space, a clever little corgi, a retro bounty poster with your own name, a red starfighter or a bold session title card. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine.
Cowboy Bebop-inspired designs
| Design | The look | Best in |
|---|---|---|
| Space jazz | Saxophones and vinyl drifting among stars | Music rooms, listening corners |
| Corgi | A clever little Welsh corgi, cut to shape | Kids' rooms, dog lovers' rooms |
| Bounty poster | A retro wanted poster with your name | Dens, dorms, gifts |
| Red starfighter | A small red fighter ship against the stars | Gaming setups, teen rooms |
| Session card | Bold retro title text of your own words | Studios, offices |
| Noir city | A rainy neon city of the future | Home theaters, hallways |
Space jazz and the noir city are the grown-up designs for a listening corner or a home theater, while the corgi is the friendliest pick for a child's room or a dog lover.
The series
Cowboy Bebop was directed by Shinichirō Watanabe at the studio Sunrise and first aired in Japan in 1998. Its 26 episodes, called sessions, follow Spike Spiegel, a laid-back former gangster, and Jet Black, a gruff ex-cop, as they hunt bounties aboard their ship, the Bebop, joined by a con artist with a lost memory, an eccentric young hacker and a remarkably smart corgi. It blends westerns, film noir, kung fu movies and science fiction, and when it aired on Adult Swim in the United States in 2001, it became a phenomenon. A feature film followed in 2001, and a live-action adaptation in 2021.
The music
The series is famous for its soundtrack, composed by Yoko Kanno and performed by her band, the Seatbelts, which ranges from big-band jazz and bebop to blues, funk, rock and quiet ballads. Episodes are named after songs and albums, and the music is as important as the story. A space-jazz rug, saxophones, trumpets and vinyl records drifting among the stars, is a perfect design for a music room or a listening corner. For more, see our vinyl record rugs and music rugs.
The corgi
The crew's dog is a Welsh corgi with a secret: he's far smarter than he lets on. A rug of a cheerful corgi, or one cut to the shape of a corgi sitting with its ears up, is a sweet design for a kid's room or any devoted corgi lover's home. Our shaped rugs come in sizes from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Fun fact: Pembroke Welsh corgis were bred to herd cattle, nipping at their heels and ducking under their kicks. For more, see our dog rugs.
Your own bounty
A retro bounty poster, with a mugshot frame, bold western lettering, a reward in woolongs and the words dead or alive, is one of the most fun custom designs we make. Put your own name or your friend's on it for a birthday or a dorm. Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′. Please only send photos you're allowed to use.
A red starfighter
Each crew member flies a small, distinctive ship, and the hero's is a sleek red fighter. A rug of our own small red starfighter streaking past planets and stars is a dynamic design for a gaming setup or a teen's room. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², which stays put. For more, see our space rugs.
Session title cards
Every episode ends and begins with a bold title card in a retro typeface. A rug designed like a session card, with your own words, a room name, a favorite album or a motto, set in that bold, jazzy lettering on black, is a stylish design for a studio, an office or a record room.
A noir future
The series' cities are full of rain, neon, cheap diners, smoky bars and crowded markets, a future that looks lived in. A rainy noir-city rug in teal, amber and black is a moody design for a home theater or a hallway runner. A custom runner up to 10 ft long fits most hallways. For more, see our home theater rugs.
Westerns in space
The show borrows freely from classic westerns: bounty hunters, saloons, showdowns and drifters with no home. A rug that mixes a desert sunset with planets in the sky is a clever, cinematic nod for fans of both genres. For desert designs, see our western rugs.
A late-night classic
For many American viewers, Cowboy Bebop was the series that played late at night on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim block in the early 2000s, a first taste of anime made for grown-ups. Two decades later, it still tops lists of the best anime ever made, and its style has influenced films, games and music.
Bell peppers and beef
The crew is always broke, and a running joke is the ship's cook serving bell peppers and beef, without the beef. A kitchen rug of bright green and red bell peppers is a funny, cheerful nod for fans, and it goes in the washing machine after real cooking spills. Choose Standard for its grip on kitchen floors.
A young hacker
The crew's youngest member is an eccentric computer genius who hacks satellites from a battered laptop. A retro computer, goggles and tangled cables design is a fun rug for a coding kid's desk corner or a programmer's home office.
A crew of misfits
Like many great anime, the series is about lonely people who become a kind of family on a cramped ship. For roommates sharing an apartment, a session-card rug with your own crew name is a funny, fitting choice.
Listening rooms
For jazz lovers and record collectors, a space-jazz rug in front of the turntable is a perfect fit, especially with a shelf of vinyl and a comfortable chair. Choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m², for the softest feel underfoot.
Dens and man caves
A bounty-poster or noir-city rug brings the show's cool, worn-in style to a den or a basement lounge, alongside a leather couch, a record player and a few framed prints. Our man cave rugs page has more ideas.
For older fans
Cowboy Bebop has violence, smoking and mature themes, so these designs suit teens and adults best. The corgi and space-jazz designs are the gentlest choices.
Dorms and bedrooms
A bounty poster with your name or a red starfighter rug brings personality to a dorm room. Choose Standard on hard dorm floors. Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.
Entryways
Just inside the front door, a small corgi or session-card rug is a stylish welcome. Keep it indoors, out of the weather, and choose Standard for its grip on tile and wood.
Pairing with furniture
These rugs suit retro, lived-in rooms: a worn leather sofa, a record player, a vintage lamp, a few potted plants and framed jazz posters of your own. Keep the palette warm and moody: amber, teal and black.
Colors
Cowboy Bebop-inspired designs look best in deep space navy and black with brass and amber for jazz, teal and neon for noir cities and a bold red for the starfighter.

Gifts
A Cowboy Bebop-inspired rug makes a great gift for an anime fan, a jazz lover or a corgi owner. A custom bounty poster is the most fun; space jazz is the most stylish and grown-up.
Sizes, shipping and returns
Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across, and shaped rugs from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′, including long runners. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Please only send artwork you're allowed to use for custom designs; official character art and stills belong to their owners. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the colors stay cool and bright, wash after wash.
Sessions worth a rug
Each of Cowboy Bebop's 26 episodes is called a session, and many borrow their titles from songs and albums: Asteroid Blues, Honky Tonk Women, Jupiter Jazz, Ballad of Fallen Angels, Toys in the Attic, Mushroom Samba and The Real Folk Blues. Several of them have such a strong look that they could carry a rug on their own.
Toys in the Attic, the crew's horror-comedy about something terrible growing in a forgotten refrigerator, inspires a funny design of an old fridge with its door slightly open and a faint glow inside. Mushroom Samba, Ed and Ein's psychedelic adventure on Io, suggests a swirl of brightly colored mushrooms and desert sky. Jupiter Jazz, set on snowy Callisto, has a cold, blue-gray palette of falling snow and saxophone smoke, and Ballad of Fallen Angels, with its gothic cathedral and stained glass, is the most dramatic of all.
Speak Like a Child, in which the crew struggles to find a machine that can play an old Betamax tape, is a gentle, nostalgic episode, and a rug of a vintage tape and its player makes a clever nod for anyone who remembers the format.
Choosing a session gives a rug a story only fans will read. Pair it with a record shelf or a framed poster of the same episode, and the corner of the room becomes a small tribute to the show's love of music, film and loneliness.
A session rug also makes a thoughtful gift for a friend who quotes the show's closing line.

Yes. A cheerful Welsh corgi, as a rectangle or cut to the shape of a sitting corgi up to 5.2×5.9 ft (160×180 cm).
Which rug suits a music room?
