About Bleach Rugs

A substitute Soul Reaper

Bleach began in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 2001, written and drawn by Tite Kubo, and ran for fifteen years. Ichigo Kurosaki, an orange-haired teenager who can see ghosts, meets Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper sent to fight Hollows, the corrupted spirits that prey on the living and the dead. When she's wounded, she gives him her powers, and a reluctant high-school student becomes a substitute Soul Reaper with a sword as tall as he is.

Together with Naruto and One Piece, Bleach was one of the three giants of 2000s shōnen. Its anime ran from 2004 to 2012, and the long-awaited Thousand-Year Blood War adaptation, beginning in 2022, brought it back with stunning new animation. Bleach is famous for its style, sharp silhouettes, striking costumes and stark black-and-white contrast, which makes it superb decor. Ours are printed into short velvet, so deep blacks, crisp whites and sword-edge detail come out sharp, and they go in the washing machine.

Ichigo and Zangetsu

Ichigo's look is iconic: spiky orange hair, a black shihakushō robe and Zangetsu, his enormous cleaver-like sword wrapped in white cloth. When he releases his bankai, Tensa Zangetsu, the sword becomes a sleek black blade and his robe a long black coat. Both forms are fan favorites. An Ichigo design, sword raised against a pale sky, is the signature Bleach rug, and Zangetsu on its own, across a dark ground, is a bold, graphic alternative.

Zanpakutō and bankai

Every Soul Reaper's sword, their zanpakutō, has a spirit and a name of its own, and its true power unlocks in two stages: shikai, the first release, and bankai, the ultimate form. Fans can name dozens of them: Senbonzakura's thousand petals, Hyōrinmaru's ice dragon, Katen Kyōkotsu's children's games, Ryūjin Jakka's flames. A sword-rack design, several zanpakutō in their sheaths side by side, or a single favorite blade with its name in calligraphy, is a stylish, collector's take on Bleach.

Karakura Town

Ichigo's hometown, with the Kurosaki family clinic, his high school and the riverbank where so much happens, is where the story begins. His friends there, the kind-hearted Orihime, the quiet giant Chad and the proud Quincy Uryū, become his closest allies. A Karakura Town design, a peaceful street at dusk with a Hollow's silhouette in the sky, captures the series' mix of everyday life and the supernatural.

Hollow masks

Bleach's Hollows wear white, bone-like masks, and when Ichigo's own inner Hollow emerges, his mask, white with red stripes, becomes one of the most recognizable images in anime. A Hollow mask design is striking and a little eerie: stark white on black, perfect for a dark gaming setup or a fan who loves the series' horror edge. It also makes a dramatic round rug.

The Gotei 13

The Thirteen Court Guard Squads of Soul Society are led by captains who wear white haori over their black robes, each with the squad's number on the back. Fans have favorite captains, and favorite squads:

  • Byakuya Kuchiki, the cool, noble captain of the Sixth Squad, with his scattering cherry-blossom blade.
  • Toshiro Hitsugaya, the young prodigy of the Tenth, with his ice dragon.
  • Kenpachi Zaraki, the battle-crazed captain of the Eleventh.
  • Shunsui Kyoraku, laid-back in his pink kimono, and Head Captain Yamamoto, master of fire.
  • Kisuke Urahara, the former captain who now runs a sweet shop with secrets.

A captain's haori design, the white coat with a squad number, is a clever, minimalist Bleach rug: almost abstract, deeply meaningful to fans. Each squad also has its own flower insignia, which makes a lovely, subtle round design.

Rukia and Sode no Shirayuki

Rukia's zanpakutō, Sode no Shirayuki, is said to be the most beautiful ice-type blade in Soul Society, all white, with a long ribbon trailing from the hilt. Her ice dances, snow and frost against a pale blue sky, make for one of the most elegant Bleach designs, calm and wintry, and a natural choice for a bedroom.

Hueco Mundo and the Espada

Hueco Mundo, the Hollows' world, is a vast white desert under an endless night and a crescent moon, with the fortress of Las Noches on the horizon. Its stark, lonely beauty is one of the series' great settings. The Espada, the ten strongest Arrancar, include fan favorites like the melancholy Ulquiorra Cifer, with his green tear-streaks and bat-like wings, and the wild Grimmjow. A Hueco Mundo landscape is a striking, minimalist rug, white sand and black sky; an Ulquiorra design is a favorite for fans of the series' tragic villains.

Aizen

Sōsuke Aizen, the gentle captain who turned out to be the series' mastermind, is one of anime's most famous villains, calm, brilliant and always several steps ahead. His swept-back hair, white robes and quiet smile make for an elegant, unsettling design, a choice for fans who admire a villain with a plan.

The Thousand-Year Blood War

The final arc brings the Quincy, the archers whose blue cross was once Uryū Ishida's symbol, back as the Wandenreich, an army that invades Soul Society. Its new anime, with bold color design, ink-wash effects and some of the best fights in modern animation, introduced Bleach to a whole new generation. Thousand-Year Blood War designs, the Quincy cross, Ichigo's final form, the captains' bankai, bring a modern, cinematic look to the room.

Kon and the lighter side

Bleach isn't all swords and Hollows. Kon, the modified soul stuck in a stuffed lion plush, Urahara's eccentric shop, Ichigo's chaotic family and Rukia's terrible drawings of bunnies are all part of its charm. A Kon or Chappy the rabbit design is a cute, funny Bleach rug for a younger fan or a shared room.

Soul Society

The Seireitei, the walled city of the Soul Reapers, is a maze of white walls, tiled roofs and traditional Japanese buildings, watched over by the execution hill of the Sōkyoku. Its clean architecture and pale colors make it one of the calmest Bleach settings, a design that suits a living room or a Japanese-inspired space.

The music

Shiro Sagisu's score, with its electric guitars, choirs and the famous track fans simply call "Number One", gave Bleach's biggest moments their swagger. A Bleach rug in a music corner or under a streaming setup is a fitting nod to it, especially in black and white.

Kubo's style

Tite Kubo's art is famous for its fashion sense, its use of negative space and its dramatic silhouettes, often a single figure against a plain white or black page. That minimalism translates beautifully to a rug. A Bleach design doesn't need a crowded scene: one figure, one sword or one mask on a bold ground is enough, and it suits a modern room with black furniture and white walls.

Colors and rooms

Bleach's palette is black and white above all, with Ichigo's orange, Byakuya's cherry-blossom pink, Hitsugaya's ice blue and Hueco Mundo's moonlight as accents. Black and white is the easiest palette to decorate around. Pair a Bleach rug with black or grey furniture and add one accent color from your favorite character, an orange cushion for Ichigo, a pink lamp for Byakuya.

The big three

Many Bleach fans grew up with all three giants of the era. If your shelf also holds Naruto and One Piece, a Bleach rug completes the set. Fans of newer dark action series will also like our Jujutsu Kaisen rugs, and every series is in our anime rugs.

Gifts

A Bleach rug is a great gift for a fan who watched the original run after school, or one who discovered the series through Thousand-Year Blood War. If you aren't sure which design to choose, Ichigo with Zangetsu or a Hollow mask is the safest. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.

Care

Vacuum on a low setting each week, blot spills with cold water straight away and wash the rug on a gentle, cold cycle when it needs it; let it air dry flat. The design is printed into the fibers, so the blacks stay deep and the whites stay crisp, wash after wash.

A note on the series

The Urahara Shop

In Karakura Town, a small candy store hides a great deal: the Urahara Shop, run by Kisuke Urahara in his green-and-white striped bucket hat and wooden sandals. Beneath it lies a vast training ground, and his friend Yoruichi often appears as a black cat. A rug of the shop's wooden front, the striped hat or a black cat silhouette on cream is a fun, low-key design that only fans will place, ideal for a hallway or a bedroom doorway.

Fans who love Kisuke's mysterious side often pair the rug with a striped hat on a shelf and a black cat figure, a playful corner only other fans will decode.
