About Tokyo Ghoul Rugs
Half human, half something else
A shy college student who loves novels survives a terrible encounter, but wakes up changed: he's now half ghoul, one of the hidden creatures living among the people of Tokyo. Torn between two worlds, he finds refuge at a quiet café run by ghouls who want only to survive. Tokyo Ghoul is a dark, tragic and stylish series with a devoted following. A Tokyo Ghoul-inspired rug captures its mood without the horror: a black mask with a zipper grin, a quiet café with steaming coffee, a field of red spider lilies, a red-and-black eye or rainy Tokyo streets. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine.

The series
Tokyo Ghoul was written and drawn by Sui Ishida and ran in Weekly Young Jump from 2011 to 2014, followed by the sequel Tokyo Ghoul:re until 2018. Ken Kaneki, a quiet student, becomes half ghoul after a medical emergency and must hide his new nature while learning about the ghouls' secret society and the government agents who hunt them. The anime adaptation by the studio Pierrot, which began in 2014, is famous for its haunting opening song, which became one of the most recognizable anime themes of the decade.
The mask
Ghouls hide their identities behind custom masks, and the hero's black leather mask, with an eyepatch and a zippered grin, is one of the most famous images in anime. A rug of our own black mask with a zipper mouth, on white or deep red, is a striking design for an anime room or a dorm, and a favorite backdrop for cosplay photos.
The café
In the story, ghouls can't eat human food, but they can drink coffee, and the café where the hero finds a second family serves the best coffee in the ward. A quiet café rug, a wooden counter, a coffee grinder and steaming cups, is a warm, cozy design for a kitchen, a home office or a coffee lover's apartment. In a kitchen, choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², for its grip.
Red spider lilies
Red spider lilies, with their thin, curling petals, bloom in Japan in early autumn around the equinox and are traditionally linked with farewells and the passage of souls, which suits the series' melancholy mood. A field of vivid red spider lilies on black or white is a beautiful, dramatic design for a bedroom or a gothic room, striking even to someone who has never seen the show. For more blooms, see our flower rugs.
The eye
When a ghoul's hunger rises, one or both eyes turn red with a black surround. A single striking red-and-black eye on a round rug is a dramatic design for a gaming setup or a dorm, as if the floor is watching back. Our round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard, which stays put and lets the wheels roll. For more, see our gaming rugs.
Rainy Tokyo
Much of the story unfolds in rainy Tokyo streets, with umbrellas, glowing vending machines and neon reflections in puddles. A rainy-Tokyo rug is a moody, cinematic design for a bedroom or a hallway runner, beautiful in its own right. A custom runner up to 10 ft long fits most hallways.
A book lover
The hero is a devoted reader of dark literary novels, and books shape how he sees his new life. A rug of stacked novels and a reading lamp is a cozy design for a reading nook or a study, for fans who share his quiet love of books and long rainy evenings.
White hair and black nails
As the story darkens, the hero's black hair turns white and his look changes completely, a transformation fans still debate. A stark black-and-white rug, split down the middle, is a subtle, symbolic nod to his two very different sides.
Japan's coffee houses
The series' café draws on a real Japanese tradition: the kissaten, old-fashioned coffee houses with wood paneling, quiet jazz and coffee brewed slowly by hand, which have been part of city life in Japan for about a century. A café rug in warm wood and cream tones is a lovely nod to that culture for any coffee lover.
Caught between two worlds
The hero belongs fully to neither humans nor ghouls, and the series uses that to explore loneliness, identity and what makes someone a monster. Fans often find his struggle deeply relatable, which is why the quieter designs, the café, the books and the rain, resonate as much as the mask.
Reading nooks
A stacked-novels or rainy-Tokyo rug makes a cozy base for a reading nook: a deep chair, a lamp, a blanket and a pile of dark literary fiction for rainy days. Premium is soft enough to sit on for hours.
Cosplay backdrops
For cosplayers, a plain black rug with a scatter of red spider lilies is a dramatic, atmospheric backdrop for photos, keeping the focus on the costume and the mask.
For older fans
Tokyo Ghoul is a violent, mature horror series, so these designs suit teens and adults only. They're deliberately atmospheric rather than graphic: the café, the lilies, the rain and the books are the subtlest choices.
Gothic and anime bedrooms
A spider-lily or mask rug is a striking centerpiece for a gothic or anime bedroom with black bedding and red accents. Choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m², for the softest feel underfoot. Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts, and for darker style, our gothic rugs.
Dorms
A mask, eye or rainy-Tokyo rug brings bold personality to a dorm room. Choose Standard on hard dorm floors so it stays put.
Home offices
For a coffee-fueled home office, a café rug under the desk is a warm, inviting touch. Our office and studio rugs page has more setups.
Kitchens
For a coffee-obsessed household, a café rug in front of the espresso machine or the coffee bar is a perfect fit, and it goes straight in the washing machine after the inevitable drips.
Entryways
Just inside the front door, a small spider-lily or café rug is a stylish welcome. Keep it indoors, out of the weather, and choose Standard for its grip on tile and wood.
Pairing with furniture
These rugs suit moody, minimalist rooms: black and white furniture, a red accent chair, warm lamps, a stack of novels and a good coffee maker. A single red element, a cushion or a vase of flowers, ties it all together.
Colors
Tokyo Ghoul-inspired designs look best in black, white and blood red, with warm coffee browns for café scenes and rainy blues and neon for city streets.

Gifts
A Tokyo Ghoul-inspired rug makes a great gift for a fan of dark anime. The spider lilies are the most elegant and grown-up; the mask is the most recognizable to fans.

Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot coffee spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the red stays vivid, wash after wash.
Anteiku's family and the CCG
At the café Anteiku, Kaneki finds an unexpected family of ghouls who try to live peacefully among humans. Touka Kirishima, a sharp-tongued waitress, wears a rabbit mask when she fights. Yoshimura, the gentle manager, hides a powerful past, and Hinami, a young girl who loves books and flowers, becomes like a little sister to Kaneki. Uta, a tattooed, quiet artist, makes the masks that ghouls wear from his studio in the city.
On the other side stand the investigators of the CCG, the Commission of Counter Ghoul, who hunt ghouls with quinques, weapons made from ghouls' own kagune and carried in metal briefcases. The sequel, Tokyo Ghoul:re, continues the story years later with new investigators and old secrets.
Those details inspire rugs with mood and meaning. A white rabbit mask on a dark wooden floor is a quiet tribute to Touka, a striking design for a fan's bedroom. A mask maker's workbench, with half-finished masks, brushes and leather straps, suits a studio or a game room. A metal briefcase with a faint red glow escaping its seams is a clever nod to the CCG for a home office.
Sui Ishida's manga and its anime adaptations are dark and emotional, so these designs suit older teens and adults. Pair them with black, white and a deep red accent, a few books stacked on the floor and a coffee cup on the desk, and the room feels like a corner of Anteiku after closing time.
For fans who love the café's quiet scenes, a rug with a coffee cup, a stack of novels and a rainy window captures Kaneki's calmer moments, before everything changes. It suits a reading nook or a home office where a good cup of coffee and a book are part of the daily routine.
