About Charizard Rugs
For the fan who picked fire
A Charizard rug is for everyone who chose Charmander first, every card collector who chased the holographic Charizard and every kid who thinks dragons are the coolest thing in the world. The showpiece design is Charizard in flight, wings spread, breathing a stream of fire across a long rectangular rug. For a round rug, its burning tail flame against a dark background is bold and simple. For collectors, the black shiny Charizard is the prize. Every design is printed into soft velvet that goes in the washing machine.
Who Charizard is
Charizard is a Fire and Flying-type Pokémon from the first generation, number 6 in the National Pokédex, and the final evolution of Charmander, the fire starter of Pokémon Red and Green. Charmander evolves into the hot-tempered Charmeleon, and Charmeleon into Charizard, a winged, orange dragon with a cream belly, blue-green wing membranes and a flame burning at the tip of its tail. The Pokédex describes its fire as hot enough to melt boulders, and says it only breathes fire at opponents it considers worthy. Since 1996, it has been one of the most popular Pokémon of all, and many fans' first real favorite.
Fire across the floor
Charizard's most dramatic pose, wings open and a jet of orange flame streaming from its mouth, needs space, so it suits a long rug. On a 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft rectangle, or a runner down a hallway, the flame can stretch from one end to the other. On a dark background, the orange glows; it's a centerpiece for a game room or a teenager's bedroom.
The tail flame
The flame on Charizard's tail is part of its identity: in the Pokédex, the flame of its line burns brighter when it's healthy and fiercer when it's angry. A tail-flame design, a single bright flame curling on a black or deep red round rug, is a subtle Charizard rug that reads as bold flame art to anyone who doesn't know the series. It's the best choice for an adult fan who wants the reference without a full character on the floor. Our round rugs page shows each size in a room.
Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard
The full evolution line tells a story many players know by heart:
- Charmander, the small orange lizard with a flame on its tail, the starter you chose in Professor Oak's lab.
- Charmeleon, sharper, redder and much more stubborn.
- Charizard, the winged dragon that made the choice worth it.
Laid out side by side on a 2.6×3.9 ft rug or a runner, the three make a nostalgic design for a player who started with fire. For a young child, Charmander alone is cuter and gentler, a sweet design for a bedroom.
Black shiny Charizard
Shiny Pokémon, rare alternate colors that appear only once in a long while, are a collector's obsession, and shiny Charizard is one of the most famous: jet black, with red wing membranes. A shiny Charizard rug is striking and dark, a perfect fit for a black-and-red gaming setup, and a quiet badge of honor for anyone who has ever hunted one.
Mega Charizard X and Y
Pokémon X and Y gave Charizard not one but two Mega Evolutions. Mega Charizard X turns black and blue, with blue flames pouring from its mouth and the Dragon type at last. Mega Charizard Y keeps its orange colors but grows larger wings and a crown of horns. A Mega Charizard X design, wreathed in blue fire on black, is one of the coolest Pokémon rugs for a teen's room or an RGB setup.
Gigantamax Charizard
In Pokémon Sword and Shield, Gigantamax Charizard becomes a towering giant with wings made of fire. It's the Pokémon of the series' champion, Leon, who battles with it in the game's final match. A Gigantamax design, the fiery wings spread wide, is a dramatic rug for a game room.
The card collectors chase
For many people, Charizard means a trading card. The holographic Charizard from the original Base Set, released in English in 1999, became the most famous Pokémon card ever printed, and top-condition copies have sold for enormous sums at auction. Generations of kids traded for it on the playground; adults now grade, slab and display it. A collector-style design, Charizard in a shimmering, holographic-look frame of our own, without reproducing any card, is a fitting rug for a room with a card display. If you'd like a design built around artwork you own, our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′. Please only send images you're allowed to use.
Ash's Charizard
In the anime, Ash's Charmander evolved into a Charizard that famously refused to listen to him, napping in the middle of battles and showing off instead of fighting. Eventually it came to respect Ash, trained among wild Charizard in Johto and returned to win some of his most important battles. Its arc is one of the most beloved in the series, and a design of Charizard and a young trainer side by side is a meaningful rug for a fan who grew up with the show.
On the big screen
Charizard has had its cinema moments too. In the live-action film Detective Pikachu, released in 2019, an angry Charizard roars out of an underground battle arena in one of the movie's most memorable scenes, its scales and flames rendered in realistic detail. For fans who loved that grittier, more lifelike look, a realistic Charizard design, textured scales and smoke rather than bright cartoon colors, suits a home theater or a darker, more grown-up game room.
A dragon at the door
For a bedroom doorway, a small 2×3 ft rug with Charizard's silhouette and a burst of flame is a fun way to guard the entrance. On a hallway floor, choose Standard so it stays put when someone walks in fast.
A Charizard bedroom
Charizard's palette is warm and bold: orange, flame yellow, deep red and blue-green, against black or charcoal. For a child's room, pair a Charizard rug with orange or red bedding and a few plush toys. For a teen's room, go darker: black bedding, red LED lights and a Mega Charizard X or shiny Charizard rug. For an adult's apartment, a tail-flame design on charcoal is subtle enough to look like art. For a bedside rug, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m². Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.
A game room setup
Charizard is a natural mascot for a gaming setup, especially for players who've battled with it online or played as it in Super Smash Bros. Under a desk chair, choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft, which stays put and lets wheels roll freely. Fans of Smash will also enjoy our Super Smash Bros. rugs, and more setup ideas are in our gaming rugs.
Charizard and friends
Charizard often shares a room with other Pokémon. Pair it with a Poké Ball rug by the bed, or with Pikachu, Gengar or Snorlax for siblings with different favorites. The full range is on our Pokémon rugs page, and fans of dragons beyond Pokémon will find more on our Dungeons and Dragons rugs page.
Standard or Premium
Standard is best on hard floors, under chairs and in busy rooms, because its non-slip back stays put. Premium is softer and warmer, best by a bed or anywhere you sit on the floor. Both are printed the same way, so the flames stay bright, and both go in the washing machine.
Sizes
The tail flame or Charizard's face suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. A fire-breathing Charizard suits a 3.3×5, 4×6 or 5×7 ft rectangle, or a runner. The evolution line suits a 2.6×3.9 ft rug or a runner. A shaped Charizard, cut to its outline with wings spread, works from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm).
Gifts
A Charizard rug is a great gift for a card collector, a fan who has started with Charmander in every game since 1996 or a child who wants a dragon in their room. If you aren't sure which design to choose, Charizard breathing fire is the safest; the shiny black version is the most special. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so the flames stay bright orange, wash after wash, without ever burning out.
A note on the character
Fire and Flying, not Dragon
Despite its wings and dragon-like shape, Charizard is a Fire and Flying type, not a Dragon type, a detail fans love to point out. That changes with Mega Charizard X, which becomes Fire and Dragon and trades its orange for black scales and blue flames. Mega Charizard Y keeps the orange body, grows larger wings and burns brighter in sunlight. Gigantamax Charizard, from Sword and Shield, sprouts wings and horns made of fire.
Each form gives a rug its own palette. Classic Charizard is warm orange, cream and teal, cheerful in a kid's room. Mega X in black and electric blue looks sleek and modern under a gaming setup, while Mega Y's bright orange wings fill a long rectangle with energy. Gigantamax's flaming wings make a dramatic shaped or round design for a big room.
For collectors, pairing forms works well: a classic Charizard rug in the bedroom and a Mega X by the desk, or one rug that shows Charmander's tiny tail flame growing into Charizard's blaze.
