The man who will be King of the Pirates

He's reckless, always hungry, terrible at planning and absolutely unstoppable when his friends are in danger. Monkey D. Luffy, the rubber-bodied captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, has been the beating heart of One Piece for nearly thirty years, and few heroes in manga are as loved. A Luffy-inspired rug celebrates the captain himself: his straw hat on a round rug, a rubber arm stretching down a hallway runner, the white-haired, cloud-wreathed joy of his Gear 5 form, his red, blue and straw-yellow colors or a giant bounty poster with your own name and price. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine, which, given how much this captain eats, is essential.

Who is Luffy?

Eiichiro Oda's One Piece began in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1997 and has become the best-selling manga series of all time. Its hero, Monkey D. Luffy, grew up in a small village where a pirate named Shanks saved his life and left him a straw hat, with a promise to return it when Luffy became a great pirate. As a boy, Luffy accidentally ate a Devil Fruit that turned his body to rubber, so he can stretch, bounce and inflate. He sets out to sea with one dream, to find the legendary treasure and become King of the Pirates, and gathers a crew of misfits who would follow him anywhere.

The straw hat

The hat is Luffy's most precious possession and the symbol of his promise. A simple woven straw hat with a red band, on a sky-blue or ocean round rug, is the most recognizable Luffy design, clean enough for any room. Our round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across, and a hat can also be cut to its own shape with our shaped rugs.

The stretching arm

Luffy's signature attacks send his rubber fists flying across impossible distances. A rug with a single rubber arm stretching from a shoulder at one end to a fist at the other is perfect for a long, narrow space. A custom runner up to 10 ft long turns a hallway into the reach of the captain's punch. Choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², which stays put as people walk by.

Gear 5

In 2022, the story revealed that Luffy's fruit was something far stranger than rubber: the power of a legendary sun god, which turns him white-haired and cartoonish, laughing as he bends the world like a toy. Gear 5 thrilled fans everywhere. A Gear 5-inspired design, swirling white clouds, a joyful sun and bright, bouncing shapes on pale lavender or sky blue, is a light, happy rug for a gaming setup or a teen room.

His other gears

Before that, Luffy powered up with a series of gears: pumping his blood to move with steam rising from his skin, inflating his bones to make giant fists and puffing his muscles into a bouncing, armored form. A rug with puffs of steam and a giant fist is a fun nod for fans who followed every fight.

Captain colors

Luffy's look is simple: a red open vest, blue shorts rolled to the knee, a yellow sash and sandals, under that straw hat. A color-block rug in red, denim blue and straw yellow is a subtle, stylish nod to the captain that suits a minimalist anime room or a grown-up apartment.

Your own bounty

In the series, the World Government puts a price on every pirate's head, and Luffy's bounty has climbed into the billions. A wanted-poster rug of our own design, aged paper, bold lettering, your own name or photo and a ridiculous bounty, is one of the most fun custom gifts we make. Please only send photos you're allowed to use.

The feast

Luffy's other great love is food, especially huge chunks of meat on the bone. A feast rug with piles of cartoon meat, fruit and rice balls is a funny design for a kitchen or a game room, and it goes in the washing machine after real snack spills. Choose Standard for its grip on kitchen floors.

A captain who never leaves anyone behind

What makes Luffy special isn't his strength; it's his loyalty. He will fight an entire government to rescue one friend, and he respects anyone who follows their dream, however unlikely. Fans often say he taught them to never give up on the people they care about. A Luffy rug in a bedroom can be a small daily reminder of that spirit: be brave, be kind, keep laughing.

Entryways

Just inside the front door, a small straw hat rug is a cheerful welcome aboard for fellow fans. Keep it indoors, out of the weather, and choose Standard for its grip on tile and wood.

Pairing with furniture

Luffy-inspired rugs suit bright, adventurous rooms: a blue or white bed frame, a rope-and-wood shelf for figures, a treasure-chest toy box and a few framed sea maps of your own. In a gaming setup, pair a Gear 5 rug with soft white and lavender lighting.

Anime bedrooms

For a One Piece fan, a straw hat or Gear 5 rug is the centerpiece of an anime bedroom. Pair it with ocean-blue bedding, a shelf of figures and a few framed prints of your own. On a hard floor, choose Standard so the rug stays put. For a softer bedroom rug, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m². Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.

Gaming setups

Under a gaming desk, a Gear 5 or captain-colors rug adds bright, happy energy. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft, which stays put and lets the wheels roll. For more, see our gaming rugs.

Dorms

A straw hat round rug or a custom bounty poster brings instant personality to a dorm room. Choose Standard on hard dorm floors.

Kids and younger fans

Luffy is a favorite of younger fans too, with his big grin and boundless optimism. A bright straw hat or stretching-arm rug is a cheerful choice for an older child's bedroom.

Siblings and shared rooms

For siblings who both follow the series, a shared straw hat rug in the middle of the room and two smaller bounty posters, one for each of them with their own names and bounties, make for friendly competition over who is the more wanted pirate.

Colors

Luffy-inspired designs look best in straw yellow, red and denim blue, with ocean blue and sky blue backgrounds, and white and lavender for Gear 5.

The rest of the crew

For the Jolly Roger, the ships, the whole crew and the islands of the Grand Line, see our One Piece rugs. For more anime heroes, see our Naruto, Dragon Ball and Demon Slayer rugs and all our anime and manga rugs.

Gifts

A Luffy-inspired rug makes a great gift for a One Piece fan, especially a custom bounty poster with their name. A straw hat round rug is the most recognizable choice.

Your own design

Want your own bounty poster, a straw hat with your name on the band or a stretching-arm runner sized to your hallway? Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′, or cut it to shape. Please only send artwork you're allowed to use; official manga panels and anime stills belong to their owners. Custom rugs are made just for you and can't be returned.

Sizes, shipping and returns

Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across, and shaped rugs from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′, including long runners. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.

Care

Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the red band stays bright, wash after wash.

Brothers, a grandfather and a promise

Luffy's family is as unusual as he is. His grandfather, Monkey D. Garp, is a legendary Marine vice admiral who hoped Luffy would become a Marine, while his father, Monkey D. Dragon, leads the Revolutionary Army against the World Government. As children, Luffy, Ace and Sabo became sworn brothers by sharing cups of sake, a promise that shapes the rest of the story.

Ace, the eldest, wore an orange cowboy hat decorated with two little faces, one smiling and one frowning, and Sabo grew up to join Dragon's revolutionaries. And Luffy's straw hat itself carries a promise: Red-Haired Shanks left it with him, asking him to return it one day once he has become a great pirate.

Those relationships make heartfelt rugs. Three sake cups raised together, on a dark wooden ground, are the brothers' oath, a meaningful design for siblings or best friends. An orange hat with its two small faces is a quiet tribute to Ace, and a straw hat resting on a weathered barrel, waiting to be returned, captures Luffy's promise to Shanks.

For fans who love One Piece for its friendships, these designs are more personal than a battle scene. They suit a teen's bedroom, a shared room for brothers or sisters, or a dorm where the series is watched with friends.

Pair them with warm reds, golds and wood tones, and a framed wanted poster on the wall, and the room feels like the deck of a ship where every crew member counts.

These family and friendship designs also make a meaningful gift between siblings or best friends who watch One Piece together. A rug with three sake cups, given on a birthday or before a move to a new city, says that the bond doesn't depend on distance. For a fan who has followed the story for decades, it's a reminder of the moments that made them cry, and the promises Luffy keeps no matter what.
