About Hellsing Rugs
Britain's secret defense against the night
In modern London, a secret organization, loyal to the Crown and the Church of England, hunts the vampires and ghouls that prey on Britain. Its leader is a fierce, cigar-smoking noblewoman, and its greatest weapon is a vampire: the oldest, most terrifying monster of all, bound to serve her family. Hellsing is a dark, stylish, blood-soaked action horror series, famous for its gothic atmosphere and its unforgettable antihero in red. A Hellsing-inspired rug brings that gothic mood into a room: a blood moon over London, a wide red hat with round sunglasses, black roses, stained glass, a Victorian manor or a silver tea service. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine.

The series
Hellsing is a manga by Kouta Hirano, serialized in Shōnen Gahosha's Young King OURs from 1997 to 2008. It was first adapted into a 13-episode anime by Gonzo in 2001, which told its own story, and then into Hellsing Ultimate, a 10-part original video series released between 2006 and 2012 that follows the manga closely. Sir Integra Hellsing commands the Hellsing Organization, Britain's defense against the undead. Her servant, the vampire Alucard, dressed in a long red coat and a wide red hat, destroys monsters with ease, while a young police officer he turns into a vampire, Seras Victoria, struggles to accept her new nature. As rival forces, including a fanatical Vatican order, close in on London, the city becomes a battlefield.
A blood moon over London
Many of the series' most striking scenes take place under a huge, glowing moon over London's rooftops, spires and clock towers. A rug of a blood-red full moon rising over the city's silhouette is a dramatic, cinematic design for a bedroom or a home theater, and a beautiful gothic landscape for anyone who loves the night. For more, see our celestial rugs.
Foggy London
The series' London mixes modern streets with old landmarks: the Houses of Parliament, its famous clock tower and the river Thames winding through the city. A rug of the river at night, with fog curling around an old stone bridge and gas lamps glowing, is a moody, atmospheric design for a living room or a study.
The red hat and sunglasses
The vampire's look is iconic: a long red coat, a wide-brimmed red hat and small round orange-tinted sunglasses. A rug of a red hat tipped over a pair of round orange shades on black is a simple, stylish design for a dorm or a gaming setup, recognizable only to fans. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft, which stays put and lets the wheels roll. For more, see our gaming rugs.
Black roses
Roses and thorns fit the series' dark, romantic mood. A rug of black roses wound with sharp thorns on deep red is a luxurious, gothic design for a bedroom or a living room, and it reads as an elegant floral to anyone else. For a soft, plush finish, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m². For more, see our gothic rugs.
Gothic stained glass
Churches, cathedrals and holy warriors play a big part in the story. A rug of gothic stained-glass arches in crimson, midnight blue and gold, glowing like a cathedral window at night, is a beautiful design for a hallway runner, up to 10 ft long, or an entryway. Just inside the front door, keep it indoors, out of the weather.
The manor
The organization operates from a grand English country house, with long corridors, portraits and a dungeon below. A rug of a stately Victorian manor under dark storm clouds, with a single light in a high window, is a moody design for a living room or a study.
Tea and the butler
For all the horror, the series is very British, complete with a loyal old butler who serves tea with perfect manners, and fights with deadly wires. A rug of a silver teapot and fine cups on dark damask is a refined, quietly funny design for a kitchen or a dining room. In a kitchen, choose Standard for its grip on tile. For another butler, see our Black Butler rugs.
Dracula backward
The vampire's name is Dracula spelled backward, a nod to Bram Stoker's 1897 novel, and the series weaves in characters and history from that classic story. Stoker's novel, now in the public domain, created much of the vampire legend we know today: castles, coffins, garlic and an ancient count from Transylvania. For more vampires, see our Castlevania rugs.
Vampire lore
Folklore about vampires is far older than Stoker, with stories across Eastern Europe of the dead rising to drink the blood of the living. Writers and filmmakers transformed them over the centuries, from monsters into elegant, tragic figures. Hellsing plays with all of it, from crosses and silver bullets to sunlight and coffins.
The police girl
The young officer who becomes a vampire is the heart of the story, a decent person learning to live with a monstrous new nature. A rug of a full moon in pale gold over a quiet city street is a gentle, wistful nod to her and a lovely design for a bedroom.
For adults
Hellsing is extremely violent and gory, with mature themes throughout, so these designs suit adults. The blood moon, the black roses and the stained glass are the most widely appealing, and they work as classic gothic décor.
Gothic bedrooms
A black rose or blood moon rug brings dark romance to a bedroom. Choose Standard on hard floors, or Premium for a plush feel underfoot. Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.
Home theaters
For a home theater, a blood moon over London rug in front of the screen sets the scene for a horror marathon. Our home theater rugs page has more ideas.
Halloween
For Halloween, a stained glass or blood moon rug is an elegant alternative to cartoon pumpkins, perfect for a grown-up party. It goes in the washing machine afterward. For more, see our Halloween rugs.
Round rugs
A round rug of a blood-red full moon, or a gothic rose window, is a bold, dramatic shape for a bedroom corner or a reading nook. Our round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across.
Pairing with furniture
These rugs suit dark, opulent rooms: carved wood, velvet armchairs in deep red, candles, heavy curtains, gilded frames and a decanter on a side table.
Colors
Hellsing-inspired designs look best in blood red and black, deep midnight blue and gold, with a pale moon and the orange glint of round sunglasses.
Other anime
For more dark fantasy, see our Berserk rugs, and for another red-coated hero with round shades, our Trigun rugs and all our anime and manga rugs.
Gifts
A Hellsing-inspired rug makes a great gift for a horror fan, a goth or an anime fan. The red hat and sunglasses are the most iconic; the black roses are the most elegant.

Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the red stays deep and dark, wash after wash.
Integra, Walter, Anderson and Millennium
The Hellsing Organization is led by Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, the cool, cigar-smoking head of a secret Protestant knighthood that hunts the undead for the British crown. Her butler, Walter C. Dornez, serves tea with perfect manners and fights with razor-thin monofilament wires that slice through anything, a legend of the organization in his youth.
Their rivals are just as memorable. Father Alexander Anderson, the Vatican's regenerating paladin from the Iscariot section, attacks with blessed bayonets and Bible pages. Millennium, the story's final enemy, is a secret army of vampire soldiers led by the Major, whose speeches about war became infamous among fans.
Those characters give rugs elegant, dangerous motifs. A web of fine silver wires crisscrossing deep red velvet is Walter, a subtle design for a gothic study. A pair of crossed bayonets on black recalls Anderson, and a silver cigar case beside a teacup suits Integra's formidable calm. A Victorian manor library, with dark wood and a portrait-lined wall, captures the organization's headquarters for a reading corner.
Kouta Hirano's manga ran from 1997 to 2008, and Hellsing Ultimate, the OVA series released between 2006 and 2012, followed it closely. Fans who love its gothic style often build rooms around deep reds, blacks and antique silver, the colors of the series' blood-red moon and its aristocratic halls.
Collectors of the OVA's soundtrack and artbooks often display them on a dark shelf above a rug like this.
Add a silver candelabra and the shelf looks like a corner of the Hellsing manor itself.
