About Bocchi the Rock Rugs
For everyone who practices alone in their room
A painfully shy high school girl spends years teaching herself guitar in her bedroom, hoping music will finally make her friends. She becomes a brilliant player online, but in real life she can barely say hello. Then a cheerful drummer drags her into a struggling four-piece band, and her first gig is played hiding inside a cardboard box. Bocchi the Rock! is a hilarious, heartfelt anime about anxiety, friendship and the joy of playing loud. A Bocchi the Rock-inspired rug brings its look into a room: a black electric guitar on pink, a cube hair clip pattern, tracksuit stripes, a little live house stage or the band's four colors. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine.

The series
Bocchi the Rock! began in late 2017 as a four-panel comic strip manga by Aki Hamaji, serialized in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Max. The studio CloverWorks adapted it into a 12-episode anime that aired in late 2022 and quickly became one of the most loved series of the year, later followed by compilation films. Hitori Gotoh, nicknamed Bocchi, a word for someone who's always alone, posts guitar covers online under a secret name and has a big following, but freezes around people. She joins a band with an upbeat drummer, a cool, broke bassist and a popular girl who ran away from the band once already, and they slowly work their way toward playing real shows at a small live house in Tokyo's Shimokitazawa.
The black guitar
Bocchi plays her father's black single-cut electric guitar, a heavy, classic rock instrument for such a small, nervous player. A rug of a glossy black electric guitar on soft pink, or a guitar cut out as a shaped rug, is a simple, striking design for a bedroom or a music corner. Our shaped rugs come in sizes from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). For more, see our guitar rugs.
Cube hair clips
She wears two little cube-shaped hair clips, one yellow, one blue, in her long pink hair. A rug of small yellow and blue cubes repeating across pink is a subtle, cute geometric pattern for a teen's room or a dorm, a nod only real fans will catch. For more patterns, see our geometric rugs.
The pink tracksuit
She wears a pink school tracksuit nearly everywhere, even when everyone else dresses up. A rug of soft pink with white side stripes is a cozy, comfy design for a bedroom, perfect for anyone who would rather stay home in sweats. For a softer bedroom rug, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m². Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.
The live house
The band practices and plays at a small basement live house, the kind of tiny club where local bands get their start. A rug of a tiny stage with amps, mic stands, cables and colored lights is a fun design for a music room or a practice space. For more, see our music rugs.
The box
Too nervous to face the crowd at her first show, the hero plays the whole set from inside a cardboard fruit box with only her guitar sticking out. A rug of a cardboard box with a guitar neck poking out of the top is one of the funniest designs we make, a perfect gift for any shy musician.
Four band colors
Each band member has her own hair color: pink, yellow, blue and red. A rug of four bold color blocks, or four bands of color stacked like a flag, is a simple, clever design for a practice room or a room shared by four friends, and it reads as a cheerful modern rug to anyone else.
Rugs under drum kits
Drums creep across hard floors as you play, which is why most drummers set up on a rug. A Standard rug, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², holds a kit in place on wood or tile, and a 5×7 ft size fits many compact kits. A larger kit may need a custom size, up to 5′11″ × 10′. A rug also softens some of a room's echo, though it won't soundproof it. For a drummer, a rug in yellow, like the band's drummer, is a fun touch.
Practice rooms and home studios
For a bedroom studio or a garage practice room, a rug under the amps and pedalboard keeps cables from sliding around and makes the space feel like a real stage. Our office and studio rugs page has more setups.
Shimokitazawa
The series is set in and around Shimokitazawa, a real neighborhood in Tokyo famous for its small live houses, vintage clothing stores, record shops and cafés. Fans visit the streets, stations and parks that appear in the anime. A rug of a narrow street lined with tiny music venues and shop signs of your own invention is a lovely nod to that indie spirit.
The music
The band's songs, performed by real musicians, became a hit in their own right, and the album released right after the anime ended climbed Japan's charts. Many fans picked up a guitar or a bass for the first time after watching. A rug of sheet music, guitar tabs or a set list of your own songs is a fun design for a new player's room. For more, see our vinyl record rugs.
For anyone who's shy
Many viewers say they recognized themselves in the hero's social anxiety, from rehearsing conversations in her head to melting into a puddle when things go wrong. The show is gentle and funny about it, and her small steps feel like huge victories. A cozy rug in a personal space is a small comfort, a place that's all yours.
Kids and teens
Bocchi the Rock! is lighthearted and funny, with no real violence, and it suits older kids, teens and adults. The guitar, tracksuit and band-color designs are great for a young musician's room.
Round rugs
A round rug printed like a drumhead, with your own band's name in the center, or like a giant guitar pick, is a fun shape for a music corner. Our round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across.
Pairing with furniture
These rugs suit cozy, creative rooms: a guitar stand, a small amp, posters of your favorite bands, a beanbag and soft pink or white bedding. A string of warm lights finishes the scene.
Colors
Bocchi the Rock-inspired designs look best in soft pink and glossy black, with yellow and blue accents and the bright pink, yellow, blue and red of the band.

Gifts
A Bocchi the Rock-inspired rug makes a great gift for a new guitarist, a drummer or a shy anime fan. The cardboard box is the funniest; the black guitar on pink is the most stylish.
Your own design
Want your own band's name, a set list of your songs or a drumhead with your logo? Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′, or cut it to shape. Please only send artwork you're allowed to use; official character art, stills and guitar brand logos belong to their owners. Custom rugs are made just for you and can't be returned.
Sizes, shipping and returns
Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across, and shaped rugs from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′, including long runners. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the pink stays bright through every rehearsal, wash after wash.
Kessoku Band, member by member
Kessoku Band is four very different girls. Hitori Gotoh, nicknamed Bocchi, has long pink hair, a pink tracksuit and a crippling fear of talking to anyone, yet plays guitar brilliantly online. Nijika Ijichi, the cheerful drummer with yellow hair and a pointed triangle of a hair tuft, holds the band together. Ryo Yamada, the cool, blue-haired bassist, is always broke and sometimes eats weeds to get by. Ikuyo Kita, the red-haired singer and guitarist, gives off a sparkling aura of popularity that Bocchi finds blinding.
Each member suggests a design. A pink tracksuit pattern with cube hair clips is pure Bocchi; a yellow triangle motif and a drum kit from above is Nijika; a cool blue bass guitar on dark navy is Ryo; and a scatter of bright red sparkles is Kita. Together, the four colors make a rug for a fan who wants the whole band, not just the lead guitarist.
The band plays at Starry, a small live house in Shimokitazawa run by Nijika's older sister, Seika. A design of a tiny stage with four mic stands and amps is a sweet tribute for anyone who has ever played their first gig to a nearly empty room.
For real-life musicians, these designs carry a gentle message too. Bocchi spends years practicing alone in her room before finding a band, and many fans recognize themselves in her. A rug in a practice corner, under a guitar stand and a small amp, becomes a reminder that every great band starts with someone playing alone, nervous but determined. It makes a sweet gift for a shy teenager who has just started guitar lessons, or for a friend who finally played their first gig.
Padrift is an independent studio. Bocchi the Rock! is named to describe what our designs are inspired by; we are not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Aki Hamaji, Houbunsha, Aniplex or CloverWorks, and our rugs do not use the characters' likenesses.
FAQ
Questions about Bocchi the Rock Rugs
Do you make Bocchi the Rock rugs?
Yes. A black guitar on pink, cube hair clip patterns, tracksuit stripes, a live house stage, a cardboard box and four band colors.
Can I put a rug under my drum kit?
Yes. Standard has a non-slip back that holds a kit on hard floors. A 5×7 ft rug fits many compact kits.
Do you make a cardboard box guitar rug?
Yes. A cardboard box with a guitar neck sticking out of the top, one of our funniest designs for shy musicians.
Is Bocchi the Rock good for a kid's room?
Yes. It's lighthearted with no real violence, and it suits older kids, teens and adults.
Can I add my own band's name?
Yes. Your band's name, logo or first set list can go on a custom rug, like a stage backdrop, in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′. Custom rugs can't be returned, so check the spelling of every song.
Will a rug soundproof my practice room?
No. A rug softens some echo from hard floors, but it won't soundproof a room or stop noise reaching the neighbors.
Are Bocchi the Rock rugs machine washable?
Yes. A gentle cold wash and a flat dry keep the pink bright through every rehearsal. Move the amps and pedals off it first.
Are these official Bocchi the Rock rugs?
No. Our guitars, cube hair clips and live house stages are designs inspired by the series; Padrift has no tie to Aki Hamaji, Houbunsha, Aniplex or CloverWorks.
