About Xenoblade Chronicles Rugs
Worlds built on giants
A Xenoblade Chronicles rug carries one of gaming's biggest ideas onto your floor: whole lands built on the bodies of colossal titans, seas of cloud and wide plains that stretch to the horizon. The classic design is the opening image of the first game, two enormous titans locked in battle, frozen forever, their silhouettes filling the sky. Fans of the second game choose the Cloud Sea and the World Tree; younger players pick the Nopon. All our rugs are printed into short velvet, so soft skies and glowing details come out with depth, and they go in the washing machine.
Monolith Soft's epics
Xenoblade Chronicles is a series of large Japanese role-playing games from Monolith Soft, led by director Tetsuya Takahashi, and published by Nintendo. The first game was released on the Wii in Japan in 2010 and reached North America in 2012, after a passionate fan campaign asked Nintendo to bring it over. It was followed by Xenoblade Chronicles X on the Wii U in 2015, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on the Switch in 2017 and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in 2022, with Definitive Editions bringing the first game and X to the Switch. Monolith Soft's open-world experience was valued enough that the studio also helped develop The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
The Bionis and the Mechonis
In the first game, the world is two titans, the organic Bionis and the mechanical Mechonis, who fought until both fell still, sword against sword. Life grew on their bodies: forests on the Bionis's legs, seas on its back, cities on its shoulders. From Colony 9, at the Bionis's feet, you can see the Mechonis across the sky. A design of the two titans facing each other over a sea of clouds is the definitive Xenoblade rug: dramatic, mythic and beautiful as a landscape even to someone who has never played.
Colony 9
The first game begins in Colony 9, a peaceful town at the foot of the Bionis, where Shulk studies the mysterious Monado and spends his days with his friends Reyn and Fiora. Its harbor, its lookout over the sea and its quiet streets set the tone for the adventure: a small, warm home in the shadow of something enormous, before the mechanical Mechon arrive and change everything. A Colony 9 design, the town at sunset with the Mechonis far across the sky, is a nostalgic, gentle rug for a bedroom, and a reminder of where the journey started.
The Monado
Shulk's weapon, the Monado, is a sword with a glowing red blade and a ring of symbols that change with each ability, Buster, Enchant, Shield, Speed, and it gives him visions of the future. Its red glow is one of the most recognizable images in Nintendo's RPGs, especially since Shulk joined Super Smash Bros. A Monado design, the blade lit in red against a dark ground, is a bold, elegant rug for a setup. Fans will also enjoy our Super Smash Bros. rugs.
Gaur Plain and the landscapes
The moment many players fell in love with Xenoblade is the first view of Gaur Plain: a vast green field opening up as the music swells, with the Mechonis's sword on the horizon. The series is full of moments like that:
- Gaur Plain, wide grassland under a bright sky.
- Satorl Marsh at night, glowing with lights in the water.
- Makna Forest, a dense jungle with waterfalls.
- Eryth Sea, floating islands over a blue sea.
- Valak Mountain, a frozen peak of ice and snow.
A landscape design, Satorl Marsh glowing at night or Gaur Plain at dawn, is a serene rug that reads as fantasy landscape art, perfect for a bedroom or living room. For more painted worlds, see our Final Fantasy and Zelda rugs.
The Cloud Sea of Alrest
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 moves to Alrest, a world covered by an endless sea of clouds, where people live on the backs of living titans that swim through it. At the center rises the World Tree, said to lead to Elysium, the paradise humanity came from. A Cloud Sea design, the titans drifting through golden clouds at sunset with the World Tree in the distance, is one of the most beautiful rugs in the series, calm and dreamlike.
Rex, Pyra and Mythra
The second game follows Rex, a young salvager, and Pyra, a legendary Blade with fire powers, whose other self, Mythra, wields light. Pyra's green core crystal, shaped like a cross on her chest, is one of the game's key symbols. A core crystal design, the glowing green cross on dark blue, is a simple, striking emblem for a round rug. Pyra and Mythra later joined Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as fighters.
Aionios and the flame clocks
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is set in Aionios, a world where two nations, Keves and Agnus, are locked in endless war, powered by giant flame clocks that feed on the lives of fallen soldiers. Soldiers live only ten years, and the off-seers play flutes to send the dead on. Noah and Mio, both off-seers, are at the center of the story. A flame-clock design, or an off-seer's flute against a quiet sky, is a melancholy, meaningful rug for fans who were moved by the game.
Mira and the Skells
Xenoblade Chronicles X is different: humanity has crashed on an alien planet, Mira, and built New Los Angeles in the wilderness, exploring with transforming mechs called Skells. Its huge, alien landscapes and science-fiction tone make it the series' most futuristic look. A Skell design, a giant mech standing over an alien plain, suits a sci-fi game room, and our space rugs have more otherworldly designs.
Nopon
Every Xenoblade game has Nopon: small, round, fluffy creatures with big ears and a habit of ending words with "-pon". Riki, the fuzzy hero of the first game, is a fan favorite. A Nopon design is a sweet, cheerful rug for a child's room, or a funny one for an adult fan who quotes them a little too often.
The music
Xenoblade's soundtracks, with work from composers including Yasunori Mitsuda, are some of the most celebrated in gaming: soaring field themes, intense battle music and quiet night tracks. Gaur Plain's theme, the Cloud Sea's gentle melodies and the flutes of Aionios are fan favorites. A landscape rug in a listening corner, with the soundtrack playing, is one of the most peaceful ways to enjoy the series outside the game.
Long journeys
Xenoblade games are long, often eighty hours or more for the main story alone, and many players spend well over a hundred. That's a lot of evenings on the couch or at a desk. For a comfortable floor under a long playthrough, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, soft enough for sitting on the floor. At a desk, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft: its 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back lets wheels roll freely.
A JRPG shelf
Xenoblade often sits beside other great role-playing games. If you also love Final Fantasy or Nintendo's Zelda, which Monolith Soft helped bring to life, you'll find their pages too, along with our anime and manga rugs for the series' art style. The full range lives in our gaming rugs.
Your own screenshot
Xenoblade's worlds are full of vistas players stop to photograph, and later games include photo modes. If you have a favorite view, our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′. Please only send images you're allowed to use.
Colors and rooms
Xenoblade's palette is open and luminous: sky blue, grass green, cloud gold and white, with the Monado's red and the core crystal's green as accents. Landscape designs suit bright, airy rooms with light wood and plants; the Monado and the titans suit a darker game room.
Sizes
The Monado's symbol, a core crystal or a Nopon suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. The titans, Gaur Plain or the Cloud Sea suits a large rectangle, 4×6 or 5×7 ft, where the landscape has room to breathe. A Monado blade suits a long runner.
Gifts
A Xenoblade Chronicles rug is a great gift for a JRPG fan who has spent hundreds of hours across the series, or a friend who still talks about seeing Gaur Plain for the first time. If you aren't sure which design to choose, the two titans are the safest. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so the skies stay bright, no vision of the future required.
A note on the series
Unique monsters
Xenoblade worlds are full of unique monsters, named creatures that wander far above the local level. Many players remember spotting a towering level-90 Arduran grazing peacefully near Colony 9 at the very start of the first game. A rug of a giant creature looming over a tiny party in a green valley captures that thrill of a world much bigger than you are.
