About Kirby Rugs

A pink puffball from Dream Land

Kirby first appeared in 1992 in Kirby's Dream Land on the Game Boy, created by Masahiro Sakurai at HAL Laboratory. He's a small, round, pink hero from Planet Popstar who can inhale enemies, float by puffing himself up and, from Kirby's Adventure onward, copy his enemies' powers. More than thirty years later, he's one of Nintendo's most beloved characters, star of dozens of games, from the side-scrolling classics to the 3D adventure Kirby and the Forgotten Land.

His round pink body is made for a round rug, and the soft colors suit a young player's bedroom as well as a pastel gaming corner.

Kirby is joyful, gentle and impossibly cute, which makes him one of the best gaming characters for decor. A Kirby rug brings a little Dream Land into your room. Ours are printed into short velvet, so Kirby's soft pinks, sky blues and bright stars come out clean and cheerful, and they go in the washing machine.

Kirby, as a round rug

Here's the simplest idea in this whole collection: Kirby is round, so a round rug can simply be Kirby. A pink circle with his little face, rosy cheeks and stubby arms, perhaps with his red feet peeking out, turns the floor into a giant Kirby. It's cute, funny and perfect for a child's room, a kawaii bedroom or a gaming corner. Round rugs come in sizes from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm); our round rugs have more ideas.

The Warp Star

Kirby's Warp Star, a bright yellow star he rides between stages and across the sky, is one of his most recognizable symbols. A Warp Star design, Kirby riding it across a starry sky, is a cheerful, dreamy rug for a bedroom. Through our shaped rugs, the star itself can be cut to its five-pointed outline.

Friends and rivals

Kirby's world is full of characters fans love:

  • King Dedede, the greedy, penguin-like self-proclaimed king of Dream Land, with his huge hammer.
  • Meta Knight, the masked swordsman with bat-like wings, mysterious and honorable.
  • Waddle Dees, the round, faceless little creatures, and Bandana Waddle Dee, Kirby's loyal friend with a spear.
  • Waddle Doo, Magolor, Elfilin and many more.

A Waddle Dee rug is almost as round and cute as Kirby himself; a Meta Knight design is a cooler choice for an older fan.

Copy abilities

Kirby's signature power is copying his enemies: swallow one and he gains its ability, with a matching hat. Sword gives him a green cap like a certain hero, Fire a flaming crown, Ice a frosty hat, Hammer a headband, Beam a jester's hat, Stone the power to turn into a rock. A grid of copy-ability Kirbys, each in a different hat, is a playful, colorful rug for a child's room, and a fun way to start a conversation about which one is best.

Planet Popstar and Dream Land

Kirby's home is Planet Popstar, a star-shaped planet, and its region of Dream Land, a gentle country of green hills, fluffy clouds, candy-colored skies and cheerful music. A Dream Land landscape, soft hills under a pastel sky, is one of the calmest and sweetest gaming rugs there is, perfect for a nursery or a young child's room.

Whispy Woods

Many Kirby adventures begin with the same first boss: Whispy Woods, a grumpy tree with a big face who drops apples and blows air at Kirby. He's been defeated in game after game and keeps coming back. A Whispy Woods design, the friendly-faced tree surrounded by red apples, is a sweet, nature-themed rug for a young child's room.

Gourmet Race

In Kirby Super Star, Kirby races King Dedede through a series of courses, eating as much food as possible on the way, to an unforgettably catchy tune. Gourmet Race became one of the series' most loved moments. A race design, Kirby and Dedede running among cakes, drumsticks and fruit, is a lively, funny rug for a playroom or a kitchen.

Poyo and the anime

Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, the animated series from the early 2000s, set Kirby in Cappy Town under the rule of a bumbling King Dedede, and gave him his famous word: "Poyo!" Fans still use it. A "Poyo" design with a smiling Kirby is a cheerful, simple rug that kids love to say out loud.

The music

Kirby's music, from the bouncy Green Greens theme of the very first game to the grand final boss themes of later adventures, is famously catchy and surprisingly epic. A Kirby rug in a music corner is a fun tribute for anyone who hums those melodies.

Food, and a lot of it

Kirby loves to eat. Maxim Tomatoes restore his health, cakes and strawberries appear everywhere, and he swallows anything in his path. In Japan, there are even real Kirby Cafés serving food shaped like Kirby and his friends. A food-themed Kirby design, Kirby among cakes, tomatoes and sweets, is a delightful rug for a kitchen or a dining nook. Our strawberry rugs pair well with it.

Epic Yarn

Kirby's Epic Yarn turned his world into a handmade craft: Kirby as a pink outline of yarn, stages of felt, buttons and stitched fabric. It's one of the most charming art styles in gaming, and it translates beautifully to a rug, where a textile design feels right at home. A yarn-style Kirby is a soft, cozy choice for a nursery or a crafter's room.

The Forgotten Land

Kirby and the Forgotten Land, released in 2022, took Kirby into a 3D world of overgrown ruins and abandoned cities, and gave him Mouthful Mode, in which he swallows things far too big for him, a car, a vending machine, a traffic cone, and takes their shape. Fans loved it, especially Car-Mouth Kirby. A Mouthful Mode design is one of the funniest Kirby rugs, a guaranteed smile in any room.

Kirby Air Ride

Kirby has a racing side too. Kirby Air Ride, on the GameCube, had players racing on Warp Stars and other flying machines, and it has a devoted following that grew again with its 2025 sequel. A racing design, Kirby zooming on a star across a track, is a bright, energetic rug for a game room.

Your own Kirby

Kirby is easy to draw, and many children's first fan art is a pink circle with a smile. If your child has drawn their own Kirby, our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′, or as a round rug up to 5.9 ft (180 cm): a keepsake they'll love standing on.

Kids' rooms and nurseries

Kirby is one of the best gaming characters for a child's room: gentle, cheerful and loved by children who have never played, simply because he's so cute. A round pink Kirby, a Dream Land landscape or a Waddle Dee makes a soft, happy play rug. On slippery floors, choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, so the rug stays put, and remember every rug goes in the washing machine.

Kawaii bedrooms

For teenagers and adults who love a kawaii aesthetic, a Kirby rug is a perfect centerpiece: pastel pinks, round shapes and stars. Pair it with soft bedding, fairy lights, plushies and pastel storage. Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, is the softest choice for a bedroom. Our cute and kawaii rugs have more of that look.

A Nintendo room

Kirby fits naturally into a Nintendo-themed room alongside Mario, Zelda and Super Smash Bros., where Kirby has fought since the very first game. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft: its non-slip back lets wheels roll freely. See our gaming rugs for more.

Colors and rooms

Kirby's palette is soft and cheerful: bubblegum pink, sky blue, sunny yellow, grass green and cream. It suits light, airy rooms with white or pastel walls. For a more grown-up look, a single round pink Kirby on a light floor is playful without overwhelming the room.

Sizes and levels

A round Kirby or Waddle Dee suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. A Warp Star suits a star-shaped rug. A Dream Land landscape, a copy-ability grid or a food design suits a rectangle, 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft. For a playroom, 5×7 ft gives plenty of space.

Gifts

A Kirby rug is one of the sweetest gaming gifts there is, for a child, a teenager or an adult who just loves Kirby. If you aren't sure which design to choose, a round pink Kirby is the safest. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.

Care

Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so Kirby stays pink and cheerful for years.

A note on the series

Meta Knight

Kirby's most mysterious rival is Meta Knight, a small, masked swordsman with a long cape that turns into bat-like wings. He fights with honor, often helps Kirby in secret and hides his face behind a silver mask with a T-shaped visor. A rug of the mask glowing against a deep blue night sky, or the cape spread like wings, is a cool, quiet design for a fan who prefers the knight to the puffball.
