About Dota 2 Rugs
From a mod to a legend
Dota began as Defense of the Ancients, a custom map for Warcraft III in the early 2000s, built and refined by modders, most famously the anonymous designer IceFrog. It created the genre now called the MOBA, and in 2013 Valve released Dota 2 as a full game. Two teams of five heroes, the Radiant and the Dire, fight across a map of three lanes and a jungle to destroy the other side's Ancient. It's famously deep, famously demanding and, for its players, endlessly rewarding.
A map of the three lanes, with the river cutting diagonally between the Radiant and Dire bases, is the design most players recognize at a glance.
Dota 2's world championship, The International, became known for record-breaking prize pools funded partly by its own community. A Dota 2 rug brings the battle onto the floor of your setup. Ours are printed into short velvet, so the painterly detail of hero art, bright spell effects and the textures of the map come out crisp, and they go in the washing machine.
Radiant and Dire
Every match pits the Radiant, with its green forests, white stone and golden light, against the Dire, with its scorched red earth, black rock and volcanic glow. Their contrast is one of the most striking in gaming. A split design, half Radiant, half Dire, divided by the river, is the most original Dota rug: bold, symmetrical and full of meaning for anyone who has played. It's also a perfect design for two friends who always end up on opposite sides.
Roshan and the Aegis
In his pit beside the river lives Roshan, the massive, horned boss whose defeat drops the Aegis of the Immortal, a shield that gives its carrier a second life. Taking Roshan is one of the most important and tense moments in any match. A Roshan design is dramatic and fun; the Aegis on a round rug is an elegant, golden emblem that suits a setup and looks like a heraldic shield to visitors.
The heroes
Dota 2 has well over a hundred heroes, each with its own abilities and devoted players:
- Pudge, the hooking butcher, a perennial favorite.
- Invoker, the spell-weaving mage with ten combinations to master.
- Crystal Maiden, the ice support, and Lina, the fire mage.
- Juggernaut, Anti-Mage, Phantom Assassin and Shadow Fiend, the carries.
- Axe, Earthshaker, Rubick, Techies and many more.
A portrait of your most-played hero is a personal choice; a team of five, one for each role, is a fun rug for a five-stack that plays together.
Positions one to five
Every Dota team divides into five positions: the hard carry who farms to dominate the late game, the mid laner who controls the center, the offlaner who creates space, and the soft and hard supports who ward, stack, save and sacrifice for everyone else. Players identify strongly with their role. A five-position design, each role represented by a hero silhouette or icon, is a great rug for a five-stack's shared room, and a quietly proud one for a position-five player.
Couriers
Couriers, the small creatures that carry items from the shop to the heroes, are some of Dota 2's most charming designs: tiny animals, birds, creatures and machines, many of them cosmetic rewards that players collect. A courier design, cute and colorful, is a light-hearted Dota rug for a bedroom or a younger player's desk.
The map
Dota 2's map, with its three lanes, river, two jungles, Roshan's pit and the two bases at opposite corners, is known by heart by every player. A top-down map design in the game's painterly style is a clever rug for a gaming chair, putting you right at the center of the action, in the river where so many teamfights happen.
The International
The International, Dota 2's annual world championship, is one of the most celebrated events in esports. Its trophy, the Aegis of Champions, is a silver-and-gold shield inscribed with the names of the winning teams. Fans follow their teams through the year and gather to watch the finals. An Aegis of Champions design, or a rug in your favorite team's colors, is a jersey for the floor. Through our custom rugs, any team or club logo can be printed in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′.
A prize pool built by players
For years, players funded The International's prize pool by buying the Compendium and later the Battle Pass, with a share of every sale added to the winnings. At its peak, the prize pool passed forty million dollars, the largest in esports history at the time. That sense of a community building its own championship is part of what makes Dota fans so devoted to the event.
Arcanas and cosmetics
Dota 2 heroes can be dressed in sets, immortals and Arcanas, rare cosmetics that change a hero's look, effects and even voice lines. Many players have a favorite Arcana they saved up for. A rug inspired by a beloved cosmetic, a hero in their Arcana form, is a vivid, personal design for a setup.
Custom games and Auto Chess
Like its ancestor, Dota 2 has a lively custom-game scene, and one of those custom games, Dota Auto Chess, launched a whole new genre, the auto battler, in 2019. Fans of the arcade side of Dota, from Ability Draft to Turbo mode, often enjoy a playful design that nods to the game's experiments rather than its esports.
Items and the shop
Dota 2's items are as iconic as its heroes: Black King Bar, Blink Dagger, Aghanim's Scepter, Divine Rapier, Observer and Sentry Wards, each with a distinctive square icon. A grid of item icons, laid out like the in-game inventory, is a graphic, inside-joke design for players who've memorized every build.
Dragon's Blood
DOTA: Dragon's Blood, the animated series on Netflix, told the story of the dragon knight Davion, the moon princess Mirana and the elven Marci in a dark fantasy saga drawn from the game's world. For fans who came to Dota through the show, a design inspired by its look, dragons and moonlit forests, suits a bedroom or a living room.
Streaming and casting
Dota 2 has a huge streaming and casting culture, with analysts, casters and streamers broadcasting matches every day. If you stream from your setup, a strong, simple design, the Aegis, a ward, a Radiant-and-Dire split, reads clearly on camera and gives your channel a recognizable look.
Wards and vision
Few things matter more in Dota than vision. Supports place Observer Wards, little glowing eyes on a stick, to reveal the map, and Sentry Wards to spot invisible enemies. The ward's glowing eye is a quietly iconic symbol, and a ward design on a round rug is a sweet tribute to every support player who bought them for the team.
A PC setup
Dota 2 is a PC game played in long, intense matches, so the setup matters. Under the chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft: its 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back lets wheels roll freely and stays put through a sixty-minute game. Match the room to your favorite side, green and gold for the Radiant, red and black for the Dire. See our gaming rugs and desk chair rugs for more.
MOBA and strategy shelves
Many Dota players also play other MOBAs and strategy games. If your library includes League of Legends or World of Warcraft, whose predecessor gave Dota its start, you'll find their pages too.
Colors and rooms
Dota 2's palettes split cleanly: the Radiant's greens, whites and golds, and the Dire's reds, blacks and lava oranges. Choose the one that suits your room, or both with a split design. Painterly hero art suits a setup with soft lighting; the Aegis's gold suits a darker room.
Sizes and levels
The Aegis, a ward or a courier suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. A Radiant-and-Dire split, the map or a hero portrait suits a rectangle, 4×6 or 5×7 ft. For a lounge where friends watch matches, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, which is softer and warmer.
Gifts
A Dota 2 rug is a great gift for a five-stack teammate, a support player who never gets thanked or a friend who has played since the Warcraft III days. If you aren't sure which hero they main, the Aegis or a Radiant-and-Dire split is the safest choice, recognized by every player regardless of role. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so the Radiant stays green and the Dire stays red, game after game.
A note on the game
Runes on the river
Every few minutes, power runes appear on the river: Haste, Double Damage, Illusion, Invisibility, Regeneration, Arcane and Shield, alongside the bounty runes that reward the whole team. A rug that sets those glowing rune icons in a ring, or a stretch of river with a single rune spinning in the water, is a clever, low-key design for anyone who has fought a mid-lane battle over a Double Damage rune.

FAQ
Questions about Dota 2 Rugs
What is the most original Dota 2 rug design?
A Radiant-and-Dire split, green forest on one side, red volcanic earth on the other, divided by the river.
Which Dota 2 design suits a round rug?
The Aegis of the Immortal, an Observer Ward's glowing eye or a courier. Maps and hero portraits suit rectangles.
Can my team get a rug with its logo?
Yes. A team or gaming club can send its logo, and we'll print it at any custom size up to 5′11″ × 10′, or cut to the logo's shape for a team room door.
Is there a cute Dota 2 design?
Couriers, the small creatures that carry items to heroes. They make a light-hearted rug for a bedroom or a younger player.
Does this page cover Dragon's Blood?
Yes. Designs inspired by the Netflix series, with its dragons and moonlit forests, are part of this page alongside the game.
Which Dota 2 rug goes under a gaming chair?
Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft. A Radiant green or Dire red map lies flat on its faux leather back, so the chair rolls in and out without dragging the lanes along.
How do I wash a Dota 2 rug?
Gentle cold cycle, then dry it flat. Radiant greens and Dire reds are printed into the fibers, so both sides of the map stay bright.
Is this official Dota 2 merchandise?
No. Our Radiant and Dire maps, Roshan and Aegis designs are original; Padrift has no affiliation with Valve.
