About Hollow Knight Rugs
A tiny knight in a fallen kingdom
Hollow Knight was made by Team Cherry, a tiny studio in Adelaide, Australia, funded through a modest Kickstarter and released in 2017. It became one of the most loved independent games ever made. You play a small, silent knight with a white, horned mask, wandering down into Hallownest, a ruined kingdom of insects beneath a quiet town. Everything in it is hand-drawn: the mossy caverns, the rain-soaked city, the crystal mines, the strange, sad, funny bugs who still live in the dark.
Hollow Knight is hard, mysterious and enormous, and players spent dozens of hours mapping it, dying in it and falling in love with it. In 2025 its long-awaited sequel, Silksong, finally arrived, starring Hornet. A Hollow Knight rug brings that beautiful, melancholy world into your room. Ours are printed into short velvet, so the soft gradients, glowing lights and inky blacks of Team Cherry's art come out with depth, and they go in the washing machine.
The Knight
The Knight is one of gaming's great minimalist designs: a small black body, a white mask with two hollow eyes and two horns, a grey cloak and a nail for a sword. That silhouette is recognizable from across the room, which makes it perfect for a rug. A Knight on a round rug is clean, cute and instantly readable; a Knight cut to the outline of its mask, through our shaped rugs, is one of the most charming gaming rugs you can put by a bed.
Hornet and Silksong
Hornet, the quick, red-cloaked princess-protector with her needle and thread, was the first game's most memorable rival and became the star of Hollow Knight: Silksong, which takes her to the new kingdom of Pharloom. Her red cloak against the dark is a striking color pairing, and her lithe, dynamic poses make for some of the most energetic Hollow Knight designs. A Hornet rug is a perfect nod to fans who waited years for the sequel.
Pharloom
Silksong moves the story to a new land. Hornet is taken to Pharloom, a kingdom of silk and song, and must climb towards the shining citadel at its peak, past pilgrims, bells and strange new bugs. Its look is warmer than Hallownest's, with golds, reds and the pale sheen of thread among the familiar inky shadows. For players who have made the climb, a Pharloom-inspired design is a fresh alternative to the first game's blues.
Mapping the dark
Exploring Hallownest meant getting lost. You found Cornifer by following his humming, bought his rough sketch of each area, and filled in the rest yourself with a quill as you went. A map-style rug, Hallownest drawn like an old parchment chart with ink lines, pins and empty, unexplored edges, is one of the cleverest Hollow Knight designs: it looks like an antique map to visitors and like years of exploring to you.
Charms
Charms are how players shape their Knight: Quick Slash, Shape of Unn, Grubsong, Dashmaster, the fragile charms that break on death, each a small round badge with its own symbol. A grid of charm icons, or a single favorite charm on a round rug, is a playful, graphic design for players who argued for hours about the best build. It also looks like a set of beautiful badges to anyone who has never played.
Steel Soul and speedruns
Hollow Knight has one of gaming's most dedicated challenge communities: Steel Soul mode, where a single death ends the save forever, the brutal Path of Pain, the Pantheons, and speedrunners racing through Hallownest in minutes. For players like that, a rug is a trophy, and a Steel Soul-inspired design, the Knight's mask cracked and gilded, makes a quietly boastful one.
A tour of Hallownest
Hallownest's regions each have their own palette and mood, which makes it easy to match a rug to a room:
| Region | Look | Room it suits |
|---|---|---|
| City of Tears | Endless rain, deep blues, lamplight | A calm bedroom or reading corner |
| Greenpath | Mossy greens, leaves, soft light | A room full of plants |
| Crystal Peak | Glowing pink crystals on dark rock | A playful, colorful room |
| Queen's Gardens | Teal, thorns, overgrown ruins | A study or a bedroom |
| Fungal Wastes | Orange and violet mushrooms | A cozy, eclectic room |
| Deepnest | Near-black, eyes in the dark | A moody gaming setup |
| Kingdom's Edge | Pale ash falling like snow | A minimalist white room |
The rainy blues of the City of Tears suit a calm bedroom, while the darkness of Deepnest belongs in a moody gaming setup.
The City of Tears is the most requested by far. Its rain, its lamp-lit towers and Christopher Larkin's mournful piano theme make it the emotional heart of the game.
The bench
Every Hollow Knight player knows the relief of finding a bench: a simple, curved seat in the dark where you sit, heal and save. Like Dark Souls' bonfires, benches became a symbol of rest. A bench design, a lone seat under a hanging lamp, is a lovely, subtle rug for a reading nook or beside a bed, a small place to rest in your own home.
The bugs of Hallownest
Hallownest's residents are its secret weapon, by turns funny, kind and heartbreaking:
- Cornifer, the cheerful mapmaker, humming as he sketches.
- Quirrel, the wandering scholar with the cracked mask.
- Zote the Mighty, a knight of tremendous self-confidence and very little skill.
- Myla, the singing miner of Crystal Peak.
- Iselda, Sly, Bretta and the Grubs waiting to be rescued.
A character line-up design, with the Knight surrounded by friends, is a warm, playful Hollow Knight rug for a younger player's room or a cozy game corner.
The Grimm Troupe
The Grimm Troupe, a traveling circus of flame and shadow, arrives in Dirtmouth with red tents and a sinister ringmaster. Grimm's black and crimson look, all curling smoke and lanterns, is the boldest palette in the game and makes a dramatic, theatrical rug for a dark room. It's a favorite of players who loved the expansion's challenging fights.
The Pale King, the White Lady and the Radiance
Behind Hallownest's fall lies a story of gods: the Pale King who built the kingdom, the White Lady in her garden, and the Radiance, the forgotten light whose dreams spread the infection. Their imagery, white, gold and blinding light against darkness, is the most luminous in the game. A Pale King or Radiance design suits a bright room and a fan who has seen the true ending.
The art of Team Cherry
Hollow Knight looks like a living illustration: hand-drawn characters, layered backgrounds, soft glow, and a restrained palette of blues, greys and blacks broken by single colors, a red cloak, a pink crystal, an orange lamp. That restraint is exactly what makes it good decor. A Hollow Knight rug rarely clashes; it sits comfortably in a modern room with white walls and black furniture, and its single accent color can be picked up by one cushion or one lamp.
An indie corner
Many Hollow Knight fans love other independent games with strong art: Cuphead's 1930s cartoons, Hades' underworld, Stardew Valley's farm. A gaming shelf of indie favorites, with a Hollow Knight rug on the floor, feels personal rather than corporate. For soulslike fans, our Dark Souls rugs share the same sense of quiet, ruined beauty.
Bedrooms
The Knight's quiet charm and the City of Tears' blues make Hollow Knight one of the best gaming franchises for a bedroom. Choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, softer and warmer for bare feet, in 2.6×3.9 ft beside the bed or a 3.9 ft (120 cm) round. Pair it with soft blue lighting and a Knight plush on the shelf, and the room will feel as calm as a rainy evening in the City of Tears.
Gaming setups
Under a gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft: its 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back lets wheels roll freely and stays put through a hundred attempts at the Pantheons. A Deepnest or Grimm design hides the dark corners of a gaming room beautifully; a City of Tears design suits a setup lit in blue.
Gifts
A Hollow Knight rug is a thoughtful gift for the friend who completed the Path of Pain, or the one who just started Silksong. If you aren't sure which part of the game they love, the Knight or the City of Tears is the safest choice. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Vacuum on a low setting each week, blot spills with cold water straight away and wash the rug on a gentle, cold cycle when it needs it; let it air dry flat. The design is printed into the fibers, so the blacks stay inky and the Knight's mask stays white.
A note on the games
Needle and silk
Silksong, released in September 2025, puts Hornet in the lead with her needle and thread, darting through the kingdom of Pharloom with acrobatic strikes and silk-powered skills. A rug of her red-cloaked silhouette with a needle trailing a single white thread across dark stone is an elegant design for players who waited years to see her journey.

FAQ
Questions about Hollow Knight Rugs
Which Hollow Knight design works best as a rug?
The Knight itself, the small horned figure with the white mask. The City of Tears, with its rain and blue lamplight, is the most beautiful scene.
Can I get a rug cut to the Knight's mask?
Yes, a mask-shaped rug: the Knight's blank white face and two curved horns on the floor. The smallest is about 2.6 ft (80 cm) wide; the largest is 5.2×5.9 ft (160×180 cm).
Does this page include Silksong and Hornet?
Yes. Hornet, the star of Hollow Knight: Silksong, and her red-cloaked look are part of this page alongside the original game.
Which Hollow Knight rug suits a bedroom?
The City of Tears or a single bench under a lamp, in Premium velvet. Their soft blues and quiet mood suit a calm room.
Will a Hollow Knight rug clash with my room?
Rarely. Team Cherry's art uses restrained blues, greys and blacks with one accent color, so it sits easily in a modern room.
Which Hollow Knight rug goes under a gaming chair?
Standard, 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft. City of Tears blue or Greenpath green looks calm under a desk, and the faux leather back lets the chair roll without moving the rug.
How do I wash a Hollow Knight rug?
Gentle cold cycle, then dry it flat. Hallownest's deep blues and glowing whites are printed into the fibers, so the kingdom stays haunting.
Is this official Hollow Knight merchandise?
No. The Knight, Hornet and Hallownest scenes are designs inspired by the game; Padrift has no connection to Team Cherry.
