About Super Smash Bros Rugs
Everyone is here, on the floor
Super Smash Bros. is the series that puts gaming's biggest heroes in one arena, and a Smash rug does the same for your living room: the circle-and-cross Smash emblem on a round rug, a dark Final Destination floor, the three platforms of Battlefield, a glowing Smash Ball or a row of stock icons. The emblem is the classic choice, because it is simple, bold and instantly recognized; Melee players may prefer the GameCube controller instead. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine, which helps after a party.
A crossover like no other
The first Super Smash Bros. arrived on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, created by Masahiro Sakurai at HAL Laboratory, with twelve fighters from Nintendo's worlds: Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu and four unlockable surprises, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Ness and Jigglypuff. Instead of draining a health bar, you build up a damage percentage and try to knock rivals off the stage. Melee followed on the GameCube in 2001, Brawl on the Wii in 2008, two versions for 3DS and Wii U in 2014, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Switch in 2018, which brought back every fighter in the series' history and added more until the roster passed eighty.
The Smash emblem
The series' symbol is a circle crossed by two lines, a simple mark that has appeared on every game and on the trophies and spirits inside them. It's perfect for a round rug: graphic, balanced and readable from across the room. In black on white, it suits a minimal living room; in gold on red, it brings a little championship energy to a game room.
Final Destination
Final Destination is a single flat platform floating in a shifting, cosmic void, the stage where competitive players settle things without distractions, and the subject of one of gaming's oldest jokes about playing with no items, one character and nowhere else. A Final Destination rug, a dark, starry purple field with the platform across the middle, is a clever design for a tournament setup. Your floor literally becomes the stage.
Battlefield
Battlefield, a floating island with three platforms above the main stage, is the other competitive standard, and its silhouette is recognized by everyone who has played. A Battlefield design, the floating platform over a sunset sky, is a calm, graphic rug, and it pairs nicely with a Final Destination rug if you have two rooms to fill.
Stages fans remember
| Stage | From | Known for |
|---|---|---|
| Dream Land | Kirby | Whispy Woods blowing fighters around |
| Hyrule Castle | The Legend of Zelda | Tornadoes and castle rooftops |
| Pokémon Stadium | Pokémon | A changing arena of fire, water, rock and grass |
| Smashville | Animal Crossing | A floating platform over a town, with real-time day and night |
| Peach's Castle | Super Mario | The original N64 castle courtyard |
A favorite stage makes a scenic rug, and Smashville's gentle town is a particularly cozy design for a child's room.
The Smash Ball
From Brawl onward, a glowing, rainbow-swirled Smash Ball floats onto the stage, and whoever breaks it unleashes a Final Smash, a screen-filling super move. Everyone chases it. A Smash Ball design, the glowing sphere on a dark ground, is a beautiful round rug and a perfect centerpiece for a game room.
Items
For casual players, items are half the fun: the Home-Run Bat that sends rivals flying with one swing, the hammer that turns a fighter into an unstoppable force, Poké Balls, Bob-ombs, Pokémon and Assist Trophies. A pattern of the classic items, scattered on a bright ground, is a playful rug for a family room, where the competitive rules don't apply.
Stocks and percentages
Smash's interface is part of its identity: the damage percentage climbing from 0% toward 999%, the stock icons, little portraits of each fighter's remaining lives, and the moment a fighter flies off into the distance. A stock-icon pattern, rows of tiny character heads on a clean background, is a graphic, almost wallpaper-like rug for a teen's room or a game room. A "0%" design, the damage counter on its own, is a minimalist joke for players who like to start fresh.
The GameCube controller
Many competitive players still use the GameCube controller, more than twenty years after Melee: its big green A button, kidney-shaped X and Y, red B and yellow C-stick are etched into their muscle memory. A GameCube controller design, the button layout in its original colors on indigo, is a love letter to Melee and a fun rug for a retro setup. Our retro rugs have more ideas from the same era.
World of Light
Ultimate's adventure mode, World of Light, opens with one of the most dramatic scenes in the series: an army of fighters standing on a cliff as beams of light from the being called Galeem wipe them out one by one, until only Kirby escapes on his Warp Star. From there, you free every fighter again and collect spirits, well over a thousand characters from across gaming history, each a tiny tribute. A World of Light design, the beams of light sweeping across a dark sky with a single Warp Star streaking away, is a striking rug, and a perfect gift for a Kirby fan who knows the little pink hero saved everyone.
The man behind it
Masahiro Sakurai, who also created Kirby, has directed every Smash game, famously overseeing even the smallest details of each fighter. His care for the history of every character he adds is why the series feels like a museum of gaming, and why fans of almost any game can find something of their own in it.
The competitive scene
Smash has two competitive worlds. Melee players discovered advanced techniques like wavedashing and built a scene that still fills arenas, celebrated in the documentary The Smash Brothers. Ultimate's community, with its enormous roster, runs its own tournaments, from local weeklies to the biggest stages in esports. For a local scene or a crew, our custom rugs can print your logo in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′, a fine marker for the spot where your weekly netplay or couch bracket happens.
Guests from everywhere
Smash has grown beyond Nintendo: Ultimate's roster includes guests like Sonic, Snake, Ryu, Pac-Man, Cloud, Joker, Steve from Minecraft and Sora, the final fighter added in 2021. For fans whose favorite came from outside Nintendo, you'll also find Sonic, Street Fighter and Minecraft pages.
Family game night
For many families, Smash is the game everyone plays together: grandparents mashing buttons, children who somehow win, and parents who swear the lag is to blame. Four players on a couch, in a sea of snacks and controller cables, is the classic Smash setup. A large rug under the couch, 5×7 ft, in Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, is soft enough for the kids who sit on the floor. On slippery floors, Standard's non-slip faux leather back keeps it in place when someone jumps up after a win.
Nintendo's worlds
Smash is a celebration of Nintendo's characters, and many fans have a favorite world. You'll find our Mario, Zelda, Pokémon, Kirby and Metroid pages for rooms devoted to one of them. The full range lives in our gaming rugs.
Colors and rooms
Smash's palette depends on the design: the emblem in bold black, white, red or gold; Final Destination in deep purple and blue; Battlefield in sunset orange; the GameCube controller in indigo with green, red and yellow. Bright designs suit a kids' room or a playroom; Final Destination and the emblem suit a darker, more grown-up game room.
Sizes and levels
The Smash emblem or the Smash Ball suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. Final Destination and Battlefield suit a wide rectangle, 4×6 or 5×7 ft, where the platform can stretch across. A controller or stock-icon design suits 3.3×5 ft. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft, which lets wheels roll freely. For kids' active play, see our kids play rugs.
Gifts
A Smash rug is a great gift for a family that plays together, a Melee veteran or a teenager who mains a character you've never heard of. If you aren't sure which design to choose, the Smash emblem is the safest. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spilled drinks with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so it survives every party, no items required.
A note on the series
The original twelve
The first Super Smash Bros., released on the Nintendo 64 in 1999, launched with eight fighters, Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox and Pikachu, plus four to unlock: Luigi, Captain Falcon, Ness and Jigglypuff. A rug styled as a character-select grid with twelve empty frames is a nostalgic design for players who remember unlocking each one.
