About Mass Effect Rugs
A galaxy shaped by your choices
Mass Effect, from BioWare, launched in 2007 and became one of the great science-fiction stories in any medium. Commander Shepard, an elite human soldier, assembles a crew aboard the starship Normandy to stop an ancient threat, the Reapers, from destroying all advanced life in the galaxy. Across three games, every choice carries over: who lives, who dies, who you love and what kind of commander you become. Andromeda followed in 2017, the Legendary Edition remastered the original trilogy in 2021, and a new Mass Effect is in development.
Fans love Mass Effect for its crew as much as its galaxy, and many have played the trilogy several times. A Mass Effect rug brings the Normandy home. Ours are printed into short velvet, so crisp emblems, starfields and the fine lines of a ship's blueprint come out sharp, and they go in the washing machine.
N7
Shepard's armor carries the N7 insignia: the letters N7 beside a bold red-and-white stripe, the mark of the Systems Alliance's most elite special forces. It's become the symbol of the whole series, and fans even celebrate N7 Day every November 7. An N7 rug, the stripe on dark grey or black, is the most iconic and most versatile Mass Effect design, sharp enough for a modern setup and recognized by every fan.
The Normandy
The Normandy, Shepard's sleek stealth frigate, rebuilt as the larger SR-2 in the second game, is home to the crew and one of the most beloved ships in science fiction. A Normandy design in blueprint style, its profile drawn in white lines on deep blue, is an elegant rug for a study or office. A design of the ship against a nebula suits a game room or a bedroom.
The galaxy map
From the Normandy's bridge, Shepard plots courses on a glowing galaxy map, jumping between clusters through mass relays. A galaxy-map design, glowing clusters, routes and relays on a dark ground, is one of the most beautiful Mass Effect rugs: it looks like a star chart to visitors and like a hundred hours of exploration to fans. Our space rugs and celestial rugs share the same starry look.
Mass relays
The mass relays, enormous ancient structures with spinning rings that hurl ships across the galaxy in an instant, are at the heart of the series' world and its mysteries. A mass relay design, glowing blue energy at the center of its rings, is a striking, graphic rug for a dark sci-fi setup or a space-loving teenager's room.
Paragon and Renegade
In the original trilogy, Shepard's choices fall on two scales: Paragon, shown in blue, for compassion and diplomacy, and Renegade, shown in red, for ruthless pragmatism. Most players lean one way, and the colors even appear in Shepard's scars and eyes. A split design, Paragon blue on one side and Renegade red on the other, is a clever, graphic rug for a fan who knows exactly which side they choose.
The crew
The Normandy's crew is what fans love most:
- Garrus Vakarian, the turian sniper, always busy with calibrations.
- Tali'Zorah, the quarian engineer behind her violet mask.
- Liara T'Soni, the asari scientist who becomes something much more.
- Wrex and Grunt, the krogan warriors; Mordin Solus, the scientist who sings.
- Legion, Thane, Miranda, Jack, Kaidan, Ashley, Joker and EDI.
A favorite crew member's portrait, or the whole squad in the Normandy's hold, is a meaningful rug for fans who still have opinions about who survived the suicide mission.
The suicide mission
Mass Effect 2 builds toward one of gaming's most famous finales: a mission through a mysterious relay from which no ship has ever returned. Whether each crew member survives depends on the loyalty you earned and the choices you make, and every player's outcome is different. A design inspired by that mission, the Normandy plunging toward the relay, is a powerful rug for fans who remember exactly who made it home.
Shepard, your way
Every Shepard is different: male or female, with their own face, background, class and story. Many players feel strongly about their own commander, and female Shepard in particular has a devoted following. Through our custom rugs, you can print your own Shepard, from a screenshot or fan art, in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′.
The Citadel
The Citadel, a vast space station with five long arms around a central ring, is the political heart of the galaxy, home to the Council, embassies, markets and the famous Presidium. It has a glamorous, futuristic look. A Citadel design, the station glowing above a nebula, is an elegant rug for a living room. And for a store owner who's a fan, a design nodding to a certain commander's favorite shop on the Citadel is an inside joke every visiting fan will get.
Omega and Afterlife
Omega, a lawless asteroid station on the edge of the galaxy, ruled by the asari crime lord Aria T'Loak, is the dark opposite of the Citadel. Its nightclub, Afterlife, all red light and pounding music, is one of the series' most memorable places. A design inspired by Afterlife's neon glow is a bold rug for a game room or a home bar.
One last party
Mass Effect 3's Citadel expansion gave the crew one final, joyful gathering, a party in Shepard's apartment with everyone the player has met, full of jokes, dancing and goodbyes. Fans count it among the best things BioWare ever made. A design of the crew together, relaxed and laughing, is a warm, nostalgic rug for a living room.
The music
Mass Effect's score, by Jack Wall, Sam Hulick and others, drew on the synthesizer soundtracks of 1980s science-fiction films, from the haunting "Vigil" to the swelling themes of the final game. A Mass Effect rug in a music corner or a listening room is a fitting tribute.
Species of the galaxy
| Species | Known for |
|---|---|
| Asari | Long-lived, blue-skinned biotics |
| Turians | Disciplined soldiers with facial markings |
| Salarians | Quick-thinking scientists and spies |
| Krogan | Massive, armored warriors |
| Quarians | Nomadic engineers in environment suits |
| Geth | Networked synthetic intelligences |
A Normandy-inspired design suits a fan of the whole trilogy, while a design built around a single species, such as the asari's blues or the krogan's armored look, makes a more personal choice.
A species-themed design, turian face markings or a quarian's patterned hood, is a deep cut for fans who loved the series' world-building.
The Reapers
The Reapers, enormous squid-like machines that return every fifty thousand years, are among the most menacing villains in science fiction, and their deep, booming horn is unforgettable. A Reaper design, a dark silhouette against a burning planet, is a dramatic rug for a dark gaming room, best paired with deep red accent lighting.
Andromeda
Mass Effect: Andromeda moved the series to a new galaxy, with Pathfinder Ryder, the ship Tempest and a crew exploring uncharted worlds. Fans who loved its exploration often choose a design inspired by its alien landscapes and its own Pathfinder emblem.
A BioWare shelf
Mass Effect fans often love BioWare's other great series, Dragon Age. Science-fiction fans will also enjoy our Halo and Starfield pages, and the full range is in our gaming rugs.
A sci-fi setup
Under the gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft: its 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back lets wheels roll freely and stays put. An N7 or Normandy rug, with cool blue lighting, a Normandy model on the shelf and a framed galaxy map, makes the corner feel like the bridge of a starship.
Colors and rooms
Mass Effect's palette is dark grey, black and deep space blue, with the N7 red-and-white, Paragon blue, Renegade red and the warm orange of an omni-tool. It suits modern rooms with clean lines and cool lighting. An N7 stripe is the easiest design to place; a galaxy map is the most beautiful.
Sizes and levels
An N7 emblem or a mass relay suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. The Normandy, the galaxy map or the Citadel suits a rectangle, 4×6 or 5×7 ft. A Paragon-and-Renegade split suits a 3.3×5 ft rug. For a living room or bedroom, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back.
Gifts
A Mass Effect rug is a great gift for a fan who celebrates N7 Day, or anyone who still thinks about the trilogy's ending. If you aren't sure which design to choose, the N7 emblem is the safest, since it appears on Shepard's armor throughout the entire trilogy. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so the N7 stripe stays sharp, no calibrations needed.
A note on the series
The Mako and Garrus' calibrations
Fans still joke about two things from the trilogy: the Mako, the bouncy six-wheeled tank that crossed alien worlds in the first game, and Garrus, always busy with calibrations on the Normandy's main gun whenever Shepard wants to talk. A rug of the Mako bouncing across a purple alien plain, or a targeting screen with Garrus' visor-style reticle, is a design every player will laugh at.
Few vehicles in gaming are remembered as fondly, or with as many jokes about its physics, as the Mako.
