About Lies of P Rugs
A dark retelling of Pinocchio
Lies of P, from the South Korean studio Round8 and publisher Neowiz, was released in 2023 and quickly earned its place among the great soulslike games. It reimagines Carlo Collodi's 1883 story of Pinocchio as a gothic tragedy: P, a puppet built by the inventor Geppetto, wakes in the city of Krat, a once-glittering Belle Époque metropolis now overrun by puppets driven to murderous frenzy. To find his creator, and perhaps become human, he must fight his way through, choosing at every turn whether to lie or to tell the truth.
Its Belle Époque city of Krat, full of puppets and gaslight, gives the game a look unlike any other soulslike.
Its world is one of the most striking in the genre: gaslit streets, ornate arcades, carnival rides and clockwork machines, all touched with decay. A Lies of P rug brings that dark elegance into your room. Ours are printed into short velvet, so gilded detail, deep shadows and the warm glow of lamplight come out beautifully, and they go in the washing machine.
Back to the original story
Many people know Pinocchio through gentle animated versions, but Collodi's original novel, first serialized in an Italian children's magazine in the 1880s, is darker and stranger: full of danger, cruelty and hard lessons about honesty, with a scheming fox and cat, a puppet theater and a mysterious fairy. Lies of P draws on that older, grimmer version. Readers who know the book will find echoes everywhere, which gives a Lies of P rug a literary depth few game designs have.
P
P himself, a pale, handsome puppet in a long coat with a mechanical arm, is a fascinating hero: polite, determined and slowly changing as the story goes on. And, true to the original tale, his lies matter. A P design, standing in a lamp-lit street with his weapon drawn, is the signature Lies of P rug, a cinematic centerpiece for a game room.
Gemini
Gemini, P's companion, is a small, talkative cricket who rides in a lantern on P's belt, a clear nod to the cricket of the original story. He offers advice, sarcasm and occasional wisdom, and fans adore him. A Gemini design, the little lantern glowing in the dark, is a charming, understated rug, and a sweet one for a bedroom or a reading corner.
The city of Krat
Krat is a city of grand boulevards, iron bridges, arcades, theaters and towering Gothic churches, inspired by late nineteenth-century Europe at its most ornate. Its districts, the elegant Krat Central Station, the twisted Malum District, the Venigni Works factory, the Rosa Isabelle Street and the eerie Arche Abbey, each have a look of their own. A Krat street scene, gaslight reflected on wet cobblestones, is a beautiful, moody rug for a study or a dark living room.
Hotel Krat
Between battles, P returns to Hotel Krat, a faded grand hotel that becomes the hub of survivors, with a workshop, a shop, a lounge and an old gramophone. It's the game's warm, safe heart, much like the hub areas of other soulslike games. A Hotel Krat design, its lobby in velvet and brass, is a cozy, atmospheric rug for a reading corner or a den.
Records for the gramophone
One of Lies of P's loveliest touches is its music: players find records across the city and play them on the hotel's gramophone, songs with lyrics written for the game, melancholy and beautiful. Collecting every one is a quiet joy. A gramophone-and-records design is a perfect rug for a music corner, beside a real record player, and our vinyl record rugs suit the same space.
Stargazers
Lies of P's save points are Stargazers, tall, ornate lamp-like devices that glow when P rests at them, the equivalent of bonfires and Sites of Grace. Their golden light in the dark is a symbol of rest. A Stargazer design, a single glowing lamp on a dark ground, is one of the subtlest and most elegant Lies of P rugs, at home in any gothic room.
Puppets and clockwork
The city's puppets range from polite servants to towering, broken machines of brass, porcelain and gears, many of them unsettling in their beauty. Their clockwork design, exposed gears, porcelain faces, hinged limbs, gives the game a distinctive mechanical look. A clockwork design, an intricate arrangement of gears and springs in brass on black, is a sharp, steampunk-flavored rug for a study or a workshop.
Weapons, assembled
P can combine weapon blades and handles into his own creations, and players spend hours experimenting with combinations, a fire-axe head on a long pole, a sword blade on a rapier hilt. Weapons are drawn in ornate, industrial detail. A weapon design, a favorite blade with its gears and engravings, is a bold, graphic rug for a gaming setup.
The Black Rabbit Brotherhood
Among Krat's most memorable foes is the Black Rabbit Brotherhood, a gang of stalkers in grinning rabbit masks who ambush P more than once. Their masks, at once playful and sinister, make a striking, slightly unnerving design, a perfect choice for a dark room or a Halloween display.
Legion arms and Ergo
P's mechanical left arm can be swapped for Legion Arms, tools like a grappling wire, a flamethrower and a shield, each built in brass and steel. And everything in Krat runs on Ergo, a glowing substance with mysterious power that serves as the game's currency. A design of P's mechanical arm in blueprint style, or a glowing vial of Ergo, is an inventive, technical rug for a workshop corner.
Truth and lies
At the heart of the game is a choice that echoes the original fairy tale: whether P lies or tells the truth, in conversations big and small. Those choices shape his humanity and the story's ending. A design built around that theme, a puppet's silhouette with a lengthening shadow, or two masks, one honest, one deceptive, is a thoughtful, symbolic rug for fans who think about the story long after finishing it.
Overture
The expansion Lies of P: Overture, released in 2025, took P back in time to the city before its fall, adding new areas, bosses and story. For fans who played through both, a design that contrasts Krat in its golden age with the ruined city of the main game is a striking, story-rich choice.
A soulslike shelf
Lies of P sits proudly beside the games that inspired it. If your shelf also holds Bloodborne, whose Victorian gloom it shares, Dark Souls or Elden Ring, a Lies of P rug fits right in. For more gothic decor ideas, see our gothic rugs.
Your own Krat
Photo-mode screenshots of Krat's streets and boss arenas are some of the most beautiful in the genre. Our custom rugs can print your favorite capture, or your own fan art, in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′.
A Belle Époque room
Lies of P's style suits a room with Belle Époque or dark-academia touches: dark wood, brass lamps, velvet upholstery, ornate frames and a gramophone or vintage radio. A Krat street scene or a Stargazer rug ties it together. Keep the lighting warm and low to echo the game's gaslight.
A gaming setup
Under the gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft: its 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back lets wheels roll freely and stays put through a long boss fight. Pair it with warm amber lighting and a P figure on the shelf. See our gaming rugs for more.
Colors and rooms
Lies of P's palette is black and charcoal, with brass, gold and the warm amber of lamplight, porcelain white for the puppets and touches of deep red. It's elegant and easy to style in a dark room. A Stargazer or gramophone design is the subtlest; a puppet or weapon is the most dramatic.
Sizes and levels
A Stargazer, Gemini's lantern or a clockwork gear suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. A Krat street, Hotel Krat or P himself suits a rectangle, 4×6 or 5×7 ft. For a living room or study, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back.
Gifts
A Lies of P rug is a thoughtful gift for a soulslike fan, a lover of dark fairy tales or anyone fascinated by Belle Époque design. If you aren't sure which design to choose, Gemini's lantern or a Stargazer is the safest choice for any player who reached Krat. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so the brass stays golden. That much, at least, is no lie.
A note on the game
The Puppet Frenzy
Before P wakes up, Krat has already fallen to the Puppet Frenzy, the night its obedient mechanical servants turned on the people they were built to serve. Streets are littered with broken automatons, and survivors hide behind barricades. A rug of a shattered puppet mask lying on cobblestones under gaslight captures that moment of the story in a single, haunting image.
