About Kingdom Hearts Rugs
May your heart be your guiding key
Kingdom Hearts began in 2002, a collaboration between Square, the makers of Final Fantasy, and Disney, directed by Tetsuya Nomura. Its hero, Sora, a boy from a small chain of islands, wakes to find his home swallowed by darkness and a strange, key-shaped weapon in his hand. What follows is a sprawling, emotional saga about friendship, light and darkness, spanning many games and more than two decades, through Kingdom Hearts II, Birth by Sleep and Kingdom Hearts III, with a fourth numbered game on the way.
Fans love the series for its heart, its music and its characters, and its own visual language, Keyblades, emblems and island sunsets, is instantly recognizable. A Kingdom Hearts rug brings that world into your room. Ours are printed into short velvet, so soft sunset gradients, glowing hearts and crisp emblems come out beautifully, and they go in the washing machine.
The Keyblade
Sora's Keyblade, a giant key used as a sword, is the series' signature weapon, and the original Kingdom Key, with its silver blade, golden guard and crown-shaped teeth, is the most iconic of all. Dozens of other Keyblades appear across the games, each with its own design. A Keyblade design, cut to its outline through our shaped rugs or laid across a long rectangle, is a bold, graphic piece for a game room.
The crown pendant
Sora wears a small silver crown on a chain around his neck, and the crown shape appears throughout the series as a symbol of light. Simple and elegant, it makes a beautiful round rug, subtle enough for a shared bedroom and instantly recognized by fans.
The paopu fruit
On Destiny Islands grows the paopu fruit, a yellow, star-shaped fruit. Legend says that if two people share one, their destinies become intertwined forever. It's one of the series' most romantic symbols, and a paopu fruit design, a golden star on a soft sunset ground, is a sweet rug for a couple's room or a gift between best friends.
Destiny Islands
Sora, Riku and Kairi's home, a small tropical island with a wooden bridge, a paopu tree bent over the water and a sky glowing orange at sunset, is where the story begins and where the friends always want to return. A Destiny Islands sunset is the most peaceful Kingdom Hearts rug, calm enough for a living room or bedroom, and full of meaning for fans.
Sora, Riku and Kairi
The three friends at the heart of the series, cheerful Sora with his spiky brown hair, Riku with his silver hair and complicated relationship with darkness, and Kairi, whose light ties them together, are among the most beloved characters in gaming. A design of the three on the island's shore, watching the sunset, is the most meaningful Kingdom Hearts rug for long-time fans.
Heartless and Nobodies
The series' enemies have two of its most graphic emblems. The Heartless emblem, a heart in red and black crossed by thorn-like lines, marks creatures born from darkness. The Nobody symbol, a pale, inverted, spiky heart, marks the empty beings left behind. On a round rug, either emblem is a bold, striking design, ideal for a gaming setup. The Heartless emblem in red and black is the more dramatic; the Nobody symbol in white and silver is the more elegant.
Organization XIII
The members of Organization XIII, in their long black hooded coats, are some of the series' most popular characters: Axel, with his flame-red hair and chakrams; Roxas, Sora's mysterious other self; Xion; Marluxia, Larxene, Demyx, Saïx and the rest. A design of the Organization's silhouettes, or of a single member, suits a fan who loves the darker side of the story.
Twilight Town
Twilight Town, a sleepy town of red-brick streets bathed in permanent golden-hour light, is home to one of the series' most beloved rituals: Roxas, Axel and Xion sitting on top of the clock tower, eating sea-salt ice cream and watching the sunset. A clock-tower design, three silhouettes against an orange sky, is a nostalgic, moving rug for fans who remember those scenes.
Birth by Sleep
Birth by Sleep, set years before the first game, tells the story of three Keyblade wielders, Terra, Aqua and Ventus, and their Wayfinder charms, star-shaped good-luck charms made from seashells. The Wayfinder, in blue, green and orange, is a lovely, meaningful symbol for a round rug, and a perfect gift for three close friends who promise to always find each other.
The series' own worlds
Alongside its film-inspired worlds, Kingdom Hearts has created memorable places of its own: Traverse Town, a cozy, neon-lit town at eternal night where lost people gather; Hollow Bastion, later Radiant Garden, a castle of pipes and crystal; Castle Oblivion, an endless white fortress built from cards; and The World That Never Was, a dark city of skyscrapers and rain. Traverse Town's warm lamps and small plazas make an especially cozy, nostalgic rug.
Aqua and the realm of darkness
Aqua, the Keyblade Master who sacrificed herself to save a friend, spent years wandering the Realm of Darkness, a lonely shore under a pale moon where the sea meets the sky. Her story is one of the saddest and most beloved in the series. A design of that dark, quiet shore, with her silhouette and a Wayfinder in hand, is a deeply meaningful rug for long-time fans.
Gummi Ships and Moogles
Between worlds, Sora and his friends fly Gummi Ships, colorful craft built from blocks like toys, and players spent hours designing their own. Moogles, borrowed from Final Fantasy, run synthesis shops along the way. A Gummi Ship design, a bright, blocky ship among stars, is a playful rug for a younger fan's bedroom or playroom.
The road to Kingdom Hearts IV
Kingdom Hearts IV, announced in 2022, takes Sora to Quadratum, a strikingly realistic city that looks like a modern Tokyo, a big change from the series' usual style. For fans looking ahead, a design that blends Sora's familiar silhouette with a modern skyline captures the excitement of the next chapter.
The heart-shaped moon
In the later games, a vast, glowing, heart-shaped moon called Kingdom Hearts hangs over the dark city of The World That Never Was. Its pale light is one of the most dramatic images in the series, and a design of the heart moon over a dark skyline makes a striking, atmospheric rug for a dark bedroom or gaming room.
Dearly beloved
Yoko Shimomura's music, especially "Dearly Beloved", the gentle piano theme that opens almost every game, is one of the most cherished soundtracks in gaming, alongside the series' theme songs by Hikaru Utada. A Kingdom Hearts rug in a music corner, beside a piano, is a fitting tribute, and our piano rugs suit the same space.
Bedrooms
Kingdom Hearts' soft sunsets, glowing hearts and gentle symbols make it a lovely theme for a bedroom. Choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, for softness, and pair a Destiny Islands or paopu design with warm, low lighting and a few figures on the shelf.
A Square Enix shelf
Kingdom Hearts shares much with Final Fantasy, including characters, creatures like Moogles and its creative team. If your shelf also holds Final Fantasy or NieR, a Kingdom Hearts rug fits right in. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft: its 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back lets wheels roll freely. See our gaming rugs for more.
Colors and rooms
Kingdom Hearts' palette moves between warm and cool: Destiny Islands' orange and turquoise, Twilight Town's gold, the Heartless red and black, the Nobodies' white and silver and the heart moon's pale glow on deep blue. Warm designs suit a bright bedroom; emblem designs suit a darker setup.
Sizes and levels
The crown, a paopu fruit, a Wayfinder or an emblem suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. A Keyblade suits a long rectangle or a shaped rug. Destiny Islands, Twilight Town or the heart moon suits 4×6 or 5×7 ft.
Gifts
A Kingdom Hearts rug is a thoughtful gift for a friend who has followed the saga since 2002, or a couple who would share a paopu fruit. If you aren't sure which design to choose, the crown pendant or Destiny Islands at sunset is the safest choice, recognized by fans of every game in the saga. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so the sunset over Destiny Islands stays golden for years to come.
A note on the series
Chain of Memories and Castle Oblivion
Between the first and second games, Chain of Memories sends Sora into Castle Oblivion, a white fortress where each floor is built from his memories and battles are fought with cards. A rug of a deck of glowing battle cards, or the castle's pale stairs disappearing upward, is a quiet, mysterious design for fans who followed the story through every handheld chapter, and it pairs well with the series' calmer colors.
Chain of Memories later returned as Re:Chain of Memories, so both handheld and console players know Castle Oblivion's white halls.
