About Final Fantasy Rugs
A final fantasy that never ended
Final Fantasy began in 1987, created by Hironobu Sakaguchi at Square, and according to legend it was named for what he thought might be his last game. Instead, it became one of the most beloved series in gaming. Almost every numbered entry is a new world with new heroes, but they share threads that fans know by heart: crystals, airships, summoned creatures, a character named Cid, the yellow Chocobo and the little Moogle, and music by Nobuo Uematsu that a generation can hum from memory.
From the pixel art of the early games and the revolution of Final Fantasy VII to the online world of XIV and the epic of XVI, there's a Final Fantasy for every player. A Final Fantasy rug brings that sense of wonder into your room. Ours are printed into short velvet, so soft watercolor tones, crystal glows and fine detail come out beautifully, and they go in the washing machine.
Chocobos
The Chocobo, a big, fluffy yellow bird that players ride across the world map, has appeared in nearly every Final Fantasy since the second, and its cheerful theme song is instantly recognizable. Chocobos are adorable, simple and universally loved by fans. A Chocobo on a round rug is the friendliest Final Fantasy design there is, perfect for a child's room, a bedroom or a cheerful game corner.
Moogles
Moogles, small white creatures with bat-like wings, a red pom-pom on an antenna and a habit of saying "kupo", run shops, deliver mail and save your game across the series. A Moogle design is sweet and playful, a lovely gift for a younger fan or a cozy bedroom, and a natural pair for a Chocobo rug.
Materia
In Final Fantasy VII, power comes from Materia, glowing orbs slotted into weapons and armor, each colored by type: green for magic, yellow for commands, purple for independent abilities, blue for support and red for summons. A Materia design, glowing orbs on a dark ground, or a single green orb on a round rug, is a graphic, jewel-like rug that every FF VII fan will recognize.
Final Fantasy VII
For many players, Final Fantasy VII, released in 1997, is the game that changed everything: Cloud Strife and his enormous Buster Sword, Tifa, Aerith and Barret, the reactor-lit city of Midgar, the villain Sephiroth and a story that still moves people decades later. The Remake trilogy, beginning in 2020 with Rebirth following in 2024, brought it to a new generation. A Buster Sword design, a Midgar skyline or Aerith's flowers in the old church are the classic choices, and each suits a different room.
The worlds of Final Fantasy
| Game | World and heroes | Rug ideas |
|---|---|---|
| Final Fantasy VI | Terra, Celes, Kefka | Magitek armor, opera house |
| Final Fantasy VII | Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Sephiroth | Buster Sword, Midgar, Materia |
| Final Fantasy VIII | Squall, Rinoa | The gunblade, Rinoa's feathered wings |
| Final Fantasy IX | Zidane, Vivi, Garnet | Vivi's pointed hat, airships |
| Final Fantasy X | Tidus, Yuna, Spira | Blitzball, the summoner's pilgrimage, the sea |
| Final Fantasy XIV | Eorzea and beyond | Job icons, cities, Moogles |
| Final Fantasy XV | Noctis and friends | The road trip, the car, camping |
| Final Fantasy XVI | Clive and the Eikons | Phoenix and Ifrit, Valisthea |
Many fans choose the entry they played first, which is often the one that made them fall in love with the series.
Every fan has a favorite numbered entry, and choosing it says a lot about which era of gaming shaped them.
Jobs and the Black Mage
Final Fantasy's job classes, Warrior, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, Thief, Dragoon, Summoner and more, are part of its DNA, and the Black Mage, a small figure with glowing yellow eyes under a wide-brimmed pointed hat, is one of its most iconic silhouettes, carried into later games by the gentle Vivi of Final Fantasy IX. A Black Mage design is a simple, charming rug that reads as a storybook wizard to anyone, and as pure Final Fantasy to fans.
A Cid in every world
A favorite piece of series trivia: almost every Final Fantasy has a character named Cid, usually an engineer, inventor or airship pilot, but never quite the same person twice. Fans love spotting him. A Cid-inspired design, an airship workshop full of blueprints and gears, is a fun, deep-cut rug for a study or a home garage.
A road trip with friends
Final Fantasy XV followed Prince Noctis and his three closest friends on a road trip across the kingdom of Lucis in a classic black convertible, camping under the stars, fishing, taking photos and eating Ignis's home-cooked meals. Those campfire scenes, with their lovingly detailed food, inspire a warm, unusual rug for a kitchen or a camping-themed den.
Crystals
Crystals are at the heart of many Final Fantasy stories, sources of light, power and life that must be protected or saved. Their soft, glowing blues and violets, and the iconic sparkling prelude melody that accompanies them, make a beautiful, calm design. A crystal rug suits a bedroom, especially with soft blue lighting.
Summons
Final Fantasy's summoned creatures are legendary in their own right: fiery Ifrit, icy Shiva, the dragon king Bahamut, the thunder god Ramuh, the serpent Leviathan, the knight Odin. Their dramatic arrivals are some of the series' most spectacular moments. A summon design, Bahamut spreading his wings or Shiva in a swirl of ice, is a dramatic rug for a game room, and each brings its own elemental palette.
Cactuars and Tonberries
Some of the series' best-loved creatures are its strangest. The Cactuar, a little green cactus running in a frozen pose, and the Tonberry, a small hooded creature with a lantern and a knife, are fan favorites, as much mascots as monsters. A Cactuar rug is a funny, perfect choice for a plant lover's room, and our botanical rugs sit nicely beside it.
Airships
Almost every Final Fantasy gives players an airship eventually: the Highwind, the Falcon, the Ragnarok, the Invincible. Getting one means the whole world opens up. An airship design, a ship sailing through clouds above a world map, is a lovely, adventurous rug for a child's room or a study, and one of the most nostalgic images in the series.
Watercolor dreams
The early games' look owes much to Yoshitaka Amano, whose delicate, flowing watercolor illustrations of heroes, monsters and crystals gave Final Fantasy its ethereal, fairy-tale identity. An Amano-inspired design, soft lines and washes of color, is one of the most elegant gaming rugs you can choose, more like a fine-art print than merchandise.
The music
Nobuo Uematsu's music, from the rippling Prelude and the triumphant victory fanfare to "One-Winged Angel" and "To Zanarkand", is performed in concert halls around the world. A Final Fantasy rug beside a piano or a record player is a natural tribute, and our piano rugs suit the same corner.
Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV, the online world of Eorzea, has become one of the most loved MMORPGs, with a devoted community, a sweeping story and endless expansions. Its job icons, city crests and housing culture make for great designs. Players who decorate their in-game houses meticulously often love the idea of a real rug in their real room, inspired by the same world.
Bedrooms and kids' rooms
Final Fantasy's gentlest designs, Chocobos, Moogles, crystals, airships, are perfect for bedrooms and children's rooms. Choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, for a soft bedroom rug, or Standard on slippery floors for its non-slip back. Every rug goes in the washing machine.
A JRPG shelf
Final Fantasy fans often love other Japanese role-playing games. If your shelf also holds Kingdom Hearts, NieR or Persona 5, a Final Fantasy rug fits right in, and the turn-based masterpiece Expedition 33 owes a clear debt to the series. See our gaming rugs for more.
Sizes and levels
A Chocobo, Moogle, Materia orb or crystal suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. A Buster Sword suits a long rectangle or a shaped rug. Midgar, an airship or a summon suits 4×6 or 5×7 ft. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft: its 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back lets wheels roll freely.
Gifts
A Final Fantasy rug is a great gift for a fan who grew up with the series or found it through the Remake. If you aren't sure which game they love, a Chocobo or a Moogle is the safest, because they appear across nearly the entire series. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so the Chocobo stays yellow and the crystals keep their glow.
A note on the series
Potions, Phoenix Downs and Gil
Some of the series' most familiar icons are its items. Potions restore health, Ethers restore magic, Elixirs do both, and the Phoenix Down, a single red feather, revives a fallen ally. Everything is paid for in Gil. A rug of a Phoenix Down feather glowing on deep blue, or a row of potion bottles on a shelf, is a small, warm design for a JRPG corner, and it reminds every player of a boss fight saved at the last second.

FAQ
Questions about Final Fantasy Rugs
Which Final Fantasy design makes the best rug?
A Chocobo on a round rug, Moogles, or Final Fantasy VII designs like the Buster Sword and Materia.
What do the Materia colors mean?
Green is magic, yellow is command, purple is independent, blue is support and red is summon. Glowing orbs make a graphic, jewel-like rug.
Which Final Fantasy design suits a child's room?
A Chocobo, a Moogle, a crystal or an airship. Choose Standard on slippery floors for its non-slip back.
Does this page cover every Final Fantasy game?
It covers the series as a whole, from the early pixel games and Final Fantasy VII to X, XIV, XV, XVI and the VII Remake trilogy.
Is there an elegant Final Fantasy design for a living room?
A watercolor design in the style of Yoshitaka Amano's illustrations, or a crystal. Both look like fine-art prints.
Which Final Fantasy rug goes under a gaming chair?
Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft. A world map from VI, VII or X makes a fine desk rug, and its faux leather back keeps it flat as the chair rolls across.
How do I wash a Final Fantasy rug?
Gentle cold cycle, then dry it flat. Crystal blues and airship golds are printed into the fibers, so every world map stays sharp.
Is this official Final Fantasy merchandise?
No. Chocobos, Moogles and Materia designs are our own, inspired by the series; Padrift has no connection to Square Enix.
