About Dragon Age Rugs
A world called Thedas
Dragon Age, from BioWare, the studio behind Baldur's Gate and Mass Effect, began in 2009 with Dragon Age: Origins, a dark fantasy role-playing game about a Grey Warden fighting a Blight of monstrous darkspawn. Dragon Age II followed in 2011, Inquisition in 2014, which won Game of the Year at The Game Awards, and The Veilguard in 2024. Across four games, players have explored Thedas, a continent of feuding nations, persecuted mages, ancient elves, scheming nobles and dragons.
Fans love Dragon Age for its companions and its choices, and many have played each game several times to see how the story changes. A Dragon Age rug brings that world into your room. Ours are printed into short velvet, so heraldic emblems, rich medieval colors and the green glow of the Fade come out crisp, and they go in the washing machine.
The Grey Wardens
The Grey Wardens are an ancient order sworn to fight the darkspawn and end each Blight, at a terrible personal price. Their emblem, a rearing griffon in silver on deep blue, is one of the most beloved symbols in the series. On a round or shield-shaped rug, the Warden griffon is elegant and heraldic, suitable for a study as much as a game room, and it reads as classic medieval heraldry to anyone who doesn't play.
The Inquisition
Dragon Age: Inquisition puts players at the head of a revived Inquisition, formed after a catastrophic explosion tears a glowing green Breach in the sky. Its emblem, an eye above an upright sword, became the face of the game. An Inquisition emblem rug, gold on deep red or black, is bold and regal, and it looks wonderful in a room with dark wood and warm light.
Tarot cards
Inquisition illustrated its companions, advisors and story moments as beautifully painted tarot cards, and fans fell in love with the style. Each card shows a character in an ornate frame, rich with symbolism. A tarot-style rug, a favorite companion's card in its gilded border, is one of the most elegant and original gaming rugs you can choose. It also suits anyone who loves tarot art, gamer or not.
The companions
Dragon Age's companions are why many people play:
- Alistair, the self-deprecating Grey Warden, and Morrigan, the sharp-tongued witch of the wilds, from Origins.
- Varric, the dwarf storyteller with his crossbow, Bianca, who appears across the series.
- Leliana, the bard turned spymaster.
- Cassandra, Dorian, Iron Bull, Sera, Cole, Vivienne, Blackwall and Solas from Inquisition.
- Hawke's friends from Kirkwall, from Isabela and Merrill to Fenris and Anders.
A companion design, or a party around a campfire, is a personal choice for fans who still have strong opinions about who they romanced.
Solas and the Dread Wolf
Solas, the soft-spoken elven mage from Inquisition, turned out to be far more than he seemed, and his story, tied to the ancient elven god known as the Dread Wolf, drives The Veilguard. Wolf imagery, elven murals and the shimmering Fade surround him. A Dread Wolf design, a stylized wolf in the manner of Solas's frescoes, is a beautiful, mysterious rug for fans who have followed his story to the end.
Mages, templars and the Chantry
At the heart of Thedas lies an old conflict: mages, who can draw power from the Fade, are feared and confined to Circle towers, watched by templars of the Chantry, the faith founded on the prophet Andraste. The Chantry's golden sunburst and the templars' flaming sword are two of the series' most recognizable symbols. A sunburst design, gold on cream, is an elegant, almost Art Nouveau rug that suits a living room as well as a fan's study.
Mabari hounds
In Origins, players can befriend a Mabari war hound, an intelligent, loyal dog from Ferelden that fights at your side and, according to Fereldans, chooses its owner rather than the other way around. Players adore their Mabari. A Mabari design is a lovely choice for a dog lover who plays, and our dog rugs have more canine companions.
The Qunari
The Qunari, tall, horned warriors who follow a strict philosophy called the Qun, are among the series' most distinctive peoples, from Sten in Origins to the Arishok in Dragon Age II and Iron Bull in Inquisition. Their horns, armor and calligraphy-like script make a bold, striking design for fans of the series' politics.
Your world state
Every Dragon Age player's story is different, shaped by dozens of decisions that carry from game to game: who lived, who ruled, who you loved. BioWare even built a tool, the Dragon Age Keep, for setting your past choices before a new game. A custom rug of your own Warden, Hawke or Inquisitor, from your screenshots or artwork, captures your version of Thedas, and our custom rugs can print it.
The Fade and the Breach
Beyond the Veil lies the Fade, a realm of spirits and dreams that mages draw power from, glowing in eerie greens. In Inquisition, it spills into the world through the Breach, a swirling green tear in the sky. A Breach design, a green vortex above a mountain valley, is a dramatic, magical rug for a dark gaming room with green accent lighting.
The nations of Thedas
| Place | Look | Game |
|---|---|---|
| Ferelden | Rugged hills, castles, dogs and mud | Origins |
| Kirkwall | A city of chains and cliffs | Dragon Age II |
| Orlais | Masks, gilded ballrooms, Grand Game intrigue | Inquisition |
| Skyhold | A mountain fortress in the snow | Inquisition |
| Tevinter and Minrathous | Magisters, towers and magic | The Veilguard |
Players who started with Origins usually want Ferelden, while Skyhold suits those who spent most of their hours in Inquisition.
Orlais, with its masked nobles and baroque elegance, makes a particularly lovely design for a refined room.
Dragons
A series called Dragon Age has to have dragons, and they're among its most spectacular sights: Inquisition's high dragons in particular, each with its own lair and fighting style, are famous for their challenge. A dragon design, wings spread over a mountain range, is the most dramatic Dragon Age rug, and the one that best explains the name to visitors.
Skyhold
Skyhold, the Inquisition's mountain fortress, becomes home for the second half of the game: a great hall, a garden, a tavern, an infirmary, a library and a war table where the Inquisitor plans campaigns across Thedas. It's a place players miss. A Skyhold design, the fortress against snowy peaks, is a warm, nostalgic rug for a study, and the war table, maps and markers on wood, would be at home under a real desk.
Hawke and Kirkwall
Dragon Age II told a more personal story: a refugee named Hawke rising over ten years to become the Champion of Kirkwall, a grim city of slaves' statues, chains and cliffs, where tensions between mages and templars finally explode. Kirkwall's dark stone and its looming Gallows make a moody, dramatic design for fans who defend the game's tight, character-driven story.
Varric and the storyteller's tavern
Varric Tethras, the dwarven writer who narrates Dragon Age II and stays with the series to the end, is many fans' favorite character: funny, loyal and never without a story. A tavern-inspired design, warm wood, candlelight and a card game in progress, captures his corner of the world, and suits a game night room perfectly.
A BioWare shelf
Dragon Age fans often love BioWare's other great series, especially Mass Effect. Lovers of party-based fantasy RPGs will also like our Baldur's Gate 3, Witcher and Skyrim pages, and the full range is in our gaming rugs.
Colors and rooms
Dragon Age's palette is rich and medieval: deep reds, royal blues, forest greens, silver, gold and the eerie green of the Fade. It suits wood, leather, iron candle holders and warm lighting, the materials of a study or a castle hall. Heraldic designs are the most versatile; Fade designs suit a darker room.
Sizes and levels
The Grey Warden griffon or the Inquisition emblem suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug, or a shield shape through our shaped rugs. A tarot card suits a tall rectangle, 3.3×5 ft. A dragon or Skyhold scene suits 4×6 or 5×7 ft. Choose Standard under a desk chair, Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, in a living room or bedroom.
Gifts
A Dragon Age rug is a great gift for a fan who has replayed Origins a dozen times, or a friend who finally finished The Veilguard. If you aren't sure which design to choose, the Grey Warden griffon is the safest. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so the heraldry stays bright.
A note on the series
The Veilguard and the Crossroads
Dragon Age: The Veilguard, released in 2024, centers on the Crossroads, a strange realm of ancient elven mirrors called eluvians that link distant places. An arched mirror frame with shimmering light inside makes an elegant, mysterious rug for a fantasy reader's room, and it pairs well with candles, old maps and a stack of Varric's adventures.

FAQ
Questions about Dragon Age Rugs
Which Dragon Age design works best as a rug?
The Grey Warden griffon and the Inquisition's eye-and-sword emblem. Tarot-style companion cards are the most elegant choice.
What are the Dragon Age tarot cards?
Inquisition illustrated its companions and story moments as painted tarot cards in ornate frames. They make a beautiful, original rug design.
Does this page cover The Veilguard?
Yes. It covers the whole series, from Origins and Dragon Age II to Inquisition and The Veilguard.
Which Dragon Age design suits a study?
A Grey Warden or Inquisition emblem, or Skyhold's war table. Both suit dark wood, leather and warm light.
Can I get an emblem cut to a shield shape?
Yes. A Grey Warden griffon or Inquisition eye can be cut to a heraldic shield, from about 2.6×2.6 ft (80×80 cm) for a doorway to 5.2×5.9 ft (160×180 cm) for a study floor.
Which Dragon Age rug goes under a desk chair?
Standard, in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft. A parchment map of Ferelden or Orlais suits a study desk, and the faux leather back holds the rug as the chair rolls.
How do I wash a Dragon Age rug?
Machine wash on a gentle cold cycle and lay it flat to dry. Ferelden reds, Orlesian blues and the green of the Fade are printed into the fibers, so they keep their depth.
Is this official Dragon Age merchandise?
No. Our Thedas map designs are original; Padrift isn't affiliated with or endorsed by BioWare or Electronic Arts.
