About Borderlands Rugs
Welcome to Pandora
Borderlands, from Gearbox Software, arrived in 2009 and invented a genre: the looter shooter, part first-person shooter, part role-playing game, with a near-endless supply of randomly generated guns. Its setting is Pandora, a lawless desert planet full of bandits, monsters, corporations and legends of an alien Vault filled with treasure. Borderlands 2 in 2012 became one of the most loved co-op games ever made, followed by The Pre-Sequel, Borderlands 3, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands and Borderlands 4.
What makes Borderlands instantly recognizable is its look: hand-drawn textures and thick black outlines that make every frame look like a comic book. That style translates beautifully to a rug. Ours are printed into short velvet, so the bold outlines, dusty oranges and bright loot colors come out crisp, and they go in the washing machine.
The comic-book look
Borderlands uses cel-shading, with flat, painted textures and heavy ink-like outlines around everything, from bandits to rocks to the clouds. It gives the games a graphic-novel feel that's still distinctive more than fifteen years later. A Borderlands rug carries that style into a room: it looks like a comic panel laid on the floor, and it suits a room with pop-art posters or comic covers on the walls. Our pop art rugs share the same bold outlines.
The Vault symbol
The Vault symbol, an alien glyph that marks the Vaults and appears on the Vault Hunters' gear, is the series' emblem. Simple and graphic, it suits a round rug perfectly. In white on a dusty orange ground, or glowing on black, it's the subtlest Borderlands design for a shared room, and the one every fan recognizes at a glance.
Claptrap
Claptrap, the yellow, one-wheeled, endlessly chatty robot who can't climb stairs, is the series' mascot and its most divisive character: players either love him or want to throw him off a cliff, often both. His single blue eye and boxy body make a cheerful, funny design, perfect for a kid's room or a gaming corner. He'd be thrilled to have a rug in his honor, and would tell you so at length.
Psychos and bandits
Pandora's bandits come in many flavors, but the Psychos, shirtless, masked and screaming, are the most iconic, and their white masks with a single painted eye have become a symbol of the series. A Psycho mask design is a bold, slightly unhinged rug for a game room, and a favorite of fans who love Borderlands' chaotic humor.
Handsome Jack
Handsome Jack, the charming, egotistical, monstrous head of the Hyperion corporation, is the villain of Borderlands 2 and one of gaming's best antagonists: funny, petty and genuinely menacing. His mask and his Hyperion branding make a sharp, striking design for fans who think the villain stole the show.
Tiny Tina
Tiny Tina, the explosives-obsessed thirteen-year-old with bunny-ear hair and a love of tea parties with captive bandits, became so popular that she got her own spin-off. Her Dungeons & Dragons-style game Bunkers & Badasses, and later Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, turned Borderlands into a fantasy adventure. A Tiny Tina design is a playful choice for a younger fan's room or a tabletop corner.
The Vault Hunters
Every game introduces a new crew of playable heroes, and players have favorites across the series: Lilith the Siren, Roland the soldier, Mordecai the sniper and Brick the brawler from the first game; Maya, Axton, Salvador, Zer0, Gaige and Krieg from the second; Moze, Amara, Zane and FL4K from the third. A favorite Vault Hunter's portrait, in full cel-shaded style, makes a personal centerpiece for a gaming setup.
Loot, in every color
Every gun in Borderlands has a rarity, shown by its color, and the moment a legendary weapon drops and glows orange is one of gaming's great thrills:
| Color | Rarity |
|---|---|
| White | Common |
| Green | Uncommon |
| Blue | Rare |
| Purple | Epic or very rare |
| Orange | Legendary |
A legendary orange design is the natural choice for the player who always chases the best loot.
A loot-beam design, a column of orange light rising from a dropped weapon, is a fun, inside-joke rug for players who've chased that glow for thousands of hours. A rug in "legendary orange" is the perfect trophy for a co-op partner.
Elements
Borderlands' guns don't just shoot; they burn, shock, corrode and freeze. Each element has its own color and icon: fire in orange, shock in electric blue, corrosive in toxic green, cryo in icy pale blue, radiation in yellow, and slag in purple in Borderlands 2. An element-themed design, a burst of shock blue or corrosive green on black, is a vivid, graphic rug, and an easy way to match a setup's RGB lighting to a favorite damage type.
Guns, guns, guns
Borderlands is famous for the sheer number of guns its systems can generate, from different manufacturers, each with a style of its own: Jakobs' wooden, old-West revolvers, Maliwan's sleek elemental weapons, Torgue's explosive everything, Hyperion's corporate precision, Vladof's spinning barrels and Tediore's guns you throw like grenades. A manufacturer-inspired design, a favorite brand's logo or a gun in its style, is a clever choice for players who have strong opinions about Torgue.
Skags, rakks and the wildlife
Pandora's wildlife is as memorable as its bandits: skags with their peeling, toothy jaws, flapping rakks, crystalline creatures and towering Thresher worms. They're part of the series' twisted sense of fun, and a skag design, drawn in full cel-shaded style, is a funny, slightly grotesque rug for a fan with a strong stomach.
Beyond Pandora
The series has traveled far from its first desert: The Pre-Sequel took players to Pandora's low-gravity moon, Elpis; Borderlands 3 visited the city-planet Promethea and the swampy Eden-6; and Borderlands 4 opened up the planet Kairos. Each world brings a new palette, neon cityscapes, moonlit craters, alien jungles, which means there's a Borderlands design for nearly any room.
The humor
Borderlands is loud, absurd and often very funny: a weapons manufacturer who speaks only in explosive capital letters, quests that end in ridiculous twists, bandits with strange obsessions and a robot who never stops talking. That sense of humor is why many fans love it, and why a Borderlands rug works best when it's a little ridiculous too.
Moxxi's and Sanctuary
Between missions, Vault Hunters return to the city of Sanctuary, and to Moxxi's bar, run by the glamorous, sharp-witted Mad Moxxi. A Moxxi's-inspired design, neon signs, a bar counter and Pandora's dusty glamour, is a natural rug for a home bar or a game room with a drinks fridge.
Co-op crews
Borderlands has always been a co-op game: split-screen on the couch or online with friends, sharing loot and arguing about who gets the legendary. A rug in the room where your crew plays together, under the couch or the gaming chairs, is a nod to all those sessions. For a crew emblem of your own, our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′.
A gaming setup
Under a gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft: its 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back lets wheels roll freely and stays put. A Borderlands rug pairs well with orange and yellow accent lighting, a Claptrap figure on the shelf and a framed comic-style print. See our gaming rugs for more ideas.
Looter shooter shelves
Borderlands players often love other loot-driven games. If your library includes Destiny 2 or Diablo, you'll find their pages too, each with its own take on chasing the perfect drop.
Colors and rooms
Pandora's palette is dusty orange, sand, rust and sky blue, with bold black outlines and bright loot colors on top. It's a warm, energetic look that suits a game room or a teenager's bedroom. Pair it with black or charcoal furniture so the outlines and colors pop, and avoid other busy patterns nearby entirely.
Sizes and levels
The Vault symbol, a Psycho mask or Claptrap suits a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug. A Vault Hunter portrait or a Pandora landscape suits a rectangle, 4×6 or 5×7 ft. For a couch co-op room, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, which is softer and warmer for sitting on the floor.
Gifts
A Borderlands rug is a great gift for a co-op partner, a Claptrap apologist or a friend who has played every game since 2009. If you aren't sure which design to choose, the Vault symbol is the safest, since it appears in every game and on every Vault Hunter's gear. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes. The design is printed into the fibers, so the outlines stay sharp and the legendary orange stays bright.
A note on the series
Golden keys and the golden chest
Borderlands players know the thrill of the golden chest, opened with golden keys handed out through SHiFT codes and events. A rug of a single golden key, or a glowing gold chest with its lid half open, is a quiet nod to every lucky roll, and it suits a gaming setup or a co-op crew's shared room.
