About Music Rugs
A rug for every kind of music lover
A music rug sets the tone for a room the moment you walk in: a giant vinyl record in front of the turntable, a run of piano keys along a hallway, a guitar silhouette in a teenager's bedroom or a sweep of musical notes in a child's practice corner. For musicians, a rug is also practical: it softens echo in a hard-floored room and, under a drum kit, keeps the kick drum from creeping across the floor. Ours are printed edge to edge on soft velvet, so every key, string and groove comes out crisp, and every rug goes in the washing machine.

Vinyl records
A vinyl record is one of the most perfect designs for a round rug: a black disc with fine grooves spiraling toward a bright center label. The long-playing record arrived in 1948, spinning at 33⅓ revolutions per minute, and the smaller 45 followed a year later. Vinyl has enjoyed a remarkable revival, outselling CDs in the United States in recent years, and a record rug in front of a turntable and a shelf of albums is the finishing touch for any listening corner. Through our custom rugs, the label can carry your own name, your band or a favorite album's year.
Piano keys
A standard piano has 88 keys, 52 white and 36 black, and that instantly recognizable pattern makes a striking, graphic rug. A long keyboard rug down a hallway or along the side of a room is both a musical tribute and a bold piece of black and white design. For younger children, a keyboard rug can even become a game: jump from key to key and sing the notes.
Guitars
A guitar silhouette, a scatter of colorful picks or a vintage amp design brings rock and roll into a room. Acoustic guitars feel warm and folk; electric guitars feel loud and rebellious. A guitar rug suits a teenager's bedroom, a home studio, a garage band space or a den with a wall of instruments.
Musical notes
Notes, treble clefs and lines of sheet music are a gentle, classic music design. A rug with notes floating across a staff suits a child's practice corner, a music teacher's studio or a nursery, where it pairs beautifully with lullabies. In black on cream, it feels elegant; in bright colors, it feels playful. A rug printed with the opening bars of a favorite song, through a custom rug, makes a meaningful gift for a wedding or an anniversary.
Cassettes and boomboxes
For a retro look, cassette tapes, boomboxes and headphones bring back the 1980s and 90s, the era of mixtapes, portable stereos and recording songs off the radio. A cassette rug with a hand-labeled sticker, or a boombox on a bold background, is a fun design for a retro bedroom or a basement den. For more from the era, see our retro rugs.
Drum rugs
Drummers know the problem: as you play, the kick drum and stands slowly creep across a hard floor. A drum rug underneath the whole kit keeps everything in place, protects the floor from spurs and stand feet and softens some of the sound reflecting around the room. Choose Standard: 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², which grips the floor. A 4×6 or 5×7 ft rug fits most compact kits; for a larger setup, a custom size up to 5′11″ × 10′ gives more room. A design with your band's name on it makes the kit look stage-ready.
Practice rooms and studios
A soft rug also helps in any room where music is played or recorded. Hard floors and bare walls bounce sound around, creating echo; a rug absorbs some of those reflections, making the room sound warmer and calmer. It won't soundproof a room, but in a home studio or a practice room, it's a simple, inexpensive improvement. Under a studio chair, choose Standard, which stays put and lets wheels roll freely.
Listening corners
A listening corner, a turntable on a low cabinet, a comfortable chair, good speakers and a shelf of albums, is one of the most relaxing spots a home can have. A round record rug or a soft musical-notes rug defines the space. For the softest feel, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m². Our round rugs page shows each size in a room.
Kids and music
For young musicians, a music rug makes practice more inviting. A colorful notes rug under the piano bench, a keyboard rug to hop across or a rug in the shape of a guitar beside the bed all help music feel like part of everyday life. On a hard floor, choose Standard so the rug stays put. Our kids play rugs page has more ideas, and for nursery lullabies, our kids and nursery rugs.
Garage bands and rehearsal spaces
For a band rehearsing in a garage or a basement, a rug does a lot of work. It marks out the stage area, keeps stands and amps from sliding on concrete, softens the harsh echo of bare walls and makes the space feel like somewhere you want to spend hours. A rug with the band's name, in a font that matches your look, makes every photo and video from practice look a little more like a real show. Choose Standard for its grip on hard floors.
Music teachers and lesson studios
A lesson studio needs to feel welcoming to nervous beginners and serious students alike. A musical-notes rug under the piano bench, or a keyboard-pattern rug by the door, sets a friendly tone and gives younger students something to look at between pieces. It also protects the floor from the scuff of chair legs and music stands.
Posters, records and memorabilia
Many music lovers display concert posters, signed records, ticket stubs and instruments on the wall. A rug that picks up their colors, a black record rug under a wall of framed albums or a warm wood-toned guitar rug beneath a row of hung guitars, ties the display together and makes the room feel curated.
Headphones, gaming and streaming
For people who make music on a laptop, stream on a gaming setup or simply live in their headphones, a music rug under the desk is a fun nod to their soundtrack. A design of oversized headphones, sound waves or a glowing equalizer looks great under an RGB-lit desk.
Dorm rooms
A record or guitar rug is a quick way to make a dorm room feel personal, especially beside a small turntable or a guitar on a stand. Choose Standard on hard dorm floors, and wash it at the end of the year before it goes home.
Shaped music rugs
Rugs cut to a shape, a guitar, a treble clef, a single music note or a record, add a playful touch to a music room or a bedroom. Our shaped rugs come in sizes from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm).
Music for every taste
Music rugs can follow your favorite genre: neon and turntables for hip-hop and electronic music, gothic lettering and black and silver for rock and metal, warm wood tones and acoustic guitars for folk and country, or elegant notes and a grand piano for classical. Choose the palette that matches your playlist.
Home theaters and game rooms
A rug helps in a home theater too, where good sound matters. For more ideas, see our home theater rugs and our gaming rugs, where headsets and soundtracks are part of the experience.
Your own music
Want a record with your band's name on the label, the sheet music of your first dance or a guitar in the exact colors of your own? Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′, or cut it to shape. Please only send artwork you're allowed to use, which rules out album covers and logos you don't own; your own band name, your own photos and public-domain sheet music are all fine. Custom rugs can't be returned.
Gifts
A music rug is a great gift for a vinyl collector, a piano student, a drummer, a guitar teacher or a couple with a special song. A record rug is the safest choice; a custom record with their name or a first-dance song is the most personal.
Standard or Premium
Standard is best under drum kits, studio chairs, piano benches and anywhere with a hard or slippery floor, because its non-slip back stays put. Premium is softer and warmer, best in listening corners and bedrooms. Both are printed the same way, so keys and grooves stay crisp, and both go in the washing machine.
Sizes, shipping and returns
Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across, and shaped rugs from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the music never fades, wash after wash.
Records, shelves and the rug
Vinyl collections are heavy and warm the room. A rug in front of the record shelf softens footsteps near the turntable, which helps reduce vibration and skipping on some setups, and gives you a comfortable spot to sit and flip through albums.
FAQ
Questions about Music Rugs
Do you make vinyl record rugs?
Yes. A black disc with grooves and a colorful label on a round rug from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm). Custom rugs can put your name on the label.
Will a rug stop my drum kit from sliding?
A Standard rug under the whole kit grips the floor and helps keep the kick drum and stands from creeping. 4×6 or 5×7 ft fits most compact kits.
Do rugs help with echo in a music room?
Yes, a rug absorbs some sound reflections, so a hard-floored room sounds warmer. It won't soundproof a room, but it helps.
Do you make piano key rugs?
Yes. Black and white keys in a row, as a long custom runner for a hallway or a rectangle for a music room.
Are music rugs machine washable?
Yes. Vinyl, piano and cassette designs wash on a gentle cold cycle; dry them flat. Move speakers off first, and the music never fades.
Can I get sheet music of our wedding song on a rug?
Yes, if you're allowed to use it. Custom rugs can print sheet music you own or that's in the public domain. Custom rugs can't be returned.
Does the music collection include guitar-shaped rugs?
Yes. Guitars, treble clefs, single notes and vinyl records can all be cut to their own shapes, from 2.6×2.6 ft (80×80 cm) to 5.2×5.9 ft (160×180 cm).
Which music rug goes under a studio chair?
Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft. Piano keys or a vinyl record look right under a studio desk, and the faux leather back keeps the rug still, so the chair rolls quietly between takes.
