Cute rugs that are easy to live with

A cute rug is the quickest way to give a room personality: a fluffy-looking cloud by the bed, a pastel checkerboard under the desk, a bow-shaped rug in front of a mirror or a smiley face that greets you every morning. Ours are printed edge to edge on soft velvet, so the colors are bright and the shapes are crisp, and, crucially for a rug that's meant to look sweet, they go in the washing machine when life happens. Shaped rugs

Many of the cutest rugs aren't rectangles at all. Our shaped rugs are cut to the outline of the design, in sizes from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm): a fluffy cloud, a heart, a bow, a daisy, a strawberry, a smiley face or a favorite character. A shaped rug beside a bed or in front of a desk makes a room feel playful and personal in a way a plain rug never can.

Pastel rugs

Pastel rugs, soft pink, lilac, mint, baby blue and butter yellow, are calm and cheerful at the same time. The best-known pastel designs are checkerboards and wavy checks, simple color blocks and soft stripes, sometimes called the Danish pastel look. Clouds, hearts and bows

Three shapes appear again and again in cute rooms. A cloud rug in white or pale blue looks soft and dreamy beside a bed. A heart rug in pink or red feels sweet and a little romantic. Cottagecore and cute go hand in hand: red strawberries with little seeds, spotted toadstool mushrooms and simple white daisies with yellow centers. Kawaii characters

Kawaii, the Japanese culture of cuteness, gave the world round, smiling characters, food with faces and impossibly sweet animals. Butterflies and the Y2K look

The early-2000s look is back: bright pinks, butterflies, hearts, sparkles and bold flowers, often with a little lilac or baby blue. Cute desk and gaming corners

Pastel gaming setups, with pink or white keyboards, cat-ear headphones and soft LED lighting, are one of the most popular cute looks of all. A round pastel rug or a cloud-shaped rug under the desk chair finishes the setup. Choose Standard there: its non-slip back stays put and lets chair wheels roll freely, even during a long session.

Funky rugs

Funky rugs take cute in a bolder direction: wobbly, hand-drawn shapes, squiggles, blobs and unexpected color combinations, often in the style of tufted art rugs. They suit a creative studio, a living room with colorful furniture or a dorm that needs some energy. Because ours are printed, the colors can be as bright as you like, and the shapes can be cut out as a shaped rug.

Cute rugs for the bedroom

The bedroom is where most cute rugs end up, and the right size depends on where you put it:

• Beside the bed: a 2.6×3.9 ft rug, an 2.6 to 3.3 ft (80 to 100 cm) round rug or a shaped rug, the first thing your feet touch in the morning.
• At the foot of the bed: a 4×6 or 5×7 ft rug under the lower half of the bed frames it.
• In the middle of the room: a 3.9 to 5.2 ft (120 to 160 cm) round rug or a large shaped rug becomes the centerpiece.
• Under a desk: a 3.3×5 ft rug or a 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) round rug, in Standard so the chair rolls freely.

Cute bath mats and bathroom rugs

A small cute rug by the vanity, a pastel cloud, a strawberry or a little bow, is an easy bathroom update. One honest note: our rugs are printed velvet, not thick, quick-drying bath mats. They're lovely in front of the vanity or by the door, rather than right where you step out of the shower. Choose Standard: 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², which grips the tiles. When it needs a refresh, it goes in the washing machine.

Dorms and first apartments

A cute rug is often the first thing that makes a dorm room or a first apartment feel like home. A 3.3×5 ft rug fits between most dorm beds; a round rug fits under a desk chair; a shaped rug adds personality to a small space. Choose Standard on hard dorm floors, and at the end of the year, wash it before packing it for home.

Nurseries and kids' rooms

Pastel and cute designs make a gentle, happy nursery or child's room: clouds, stars, soft animals and pale checks. Choose Premium for tummy time and floor play, and Standard's non-slip back once your child starts walking on a smooth floor. Every rug goes in the washing machine, which will be needed. A cute rug also makes a great backdrop. In front of a full-length mirror or a vanity, a bow, heart or pastel checkered rug adds color to outfit photos and makes getting ready feel a little more fun.

Standard or Premium

Standard is best on hard or slippery floors, in bathrooms, under desk chairs and anywhere you need grip. Premium is softer and warmer, best beside a bed or anywhere you sit on the floor. Both are printed the same way, so pastels stay soft and brights stay bright, and both go in the washing machine.

Sizes, shipping and returns

Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across. Shaped rugs come from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.

Care

Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so your cute rug stays cute, wash after wash.

Cute, decade by decade

Every decade has had its own idea of cute. The 1950s gave us pastel kitchens in mint, pink and butter yellow, with polka dots and gingham. The late 1960s and 1970s brought flower power, smiley faces and rainbows in orange, gold and brown. The 1980s loved rainbows and unicorns on every sticker and lunchbox, and the 1990s and 2000s filled pencil cases with kawaii characters, glitter and butterfly clips.

In the 2010s, the soft, sun-bleached look sometimes called Danish pastel took over, with wavy mirrors, checkerboards and blobby shapes. The 2020s added coquette bows, ruffles and pearls, as well as kidcore, a nostalgic mix of primary colors and childhood toys.

A cute rug can lean on any of those eras. A mint-and-pink gingham suits a retro kitchen; an orange smiley or flower-power daisy fits a 70s-inspired bedroom; a rainbow and stars brings back the 80s; a pastel wavy checkerboard looks current and calm. Mixing eras works too, as long as the colors talk to each other: soft pastels with soft pastels, brights with brights.

If you love more than one era, a rug can bridge them: a pastel checkerboard with a few scattered smileys feels both 70s and current, and it sits happily in a modern bedroom.
