About Daisy Rugs
The happiest flower
A daisy rug is pure, simple sunshine: white petals around a bright yellow center, the simplest and most cheerful flower there is. The signature design is a rug cut to the shape of a single big daisy, lying on the floor like a flower you just picked. Others love scattered daisies across a pastel rug, the bold, groovy daisies of 1960s flower power or a daisy chain winding around the edge. Ours are printed edge to edge on soft velvet, so white petals stay crisp and yellow centers stay bright, and every rug goes in the washing machine.
Daisy-shaped rugs
A rug cut to the outline of a daisy, with its ring of rounded petals, is one of the most charming rugs you can put in a room. Our shaped rugs come in sizes from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). A small daisy beside a bed or under a vanity stool is sweet; a large one in the middle of a bedroom or a dorm room becomes the room's happy centerpiece. White with yellow is the classic; pink, lilac, blue and orange daisies are popular too.
Daisy designs
| Design | The look | Best in |
|---|---|---|
| Daisy-shaped rug | A single big flower, cut to shape | Bedrooms, dorms, vanity corners |
| Scattered daisies | Little daisies on pastel pink, blue or mint | Nurseries, kids' rooms, bedrooms |
| Flower power | Bold, simple daisies in orange, pink and yellow | Retro bedrooms, dens, playrooms |
| Daisy chain | A chain of daisies around the border | Bedrooms, nurseries |
| Gingham and daisies | Picnic checks with daisies, cottage style | Kitchens, breakfast nooks |
| Meadow | Daisies among grass and wildflowers | Living rooms, sunrooms |
The daisy-shaped rug is cut to the outline of its petals, so it sits like a single flower on a plain floor; scattered daisies suit a nursery where you want the pattern everywhere.
The day's eye
The name daisy comes from the Old English for day's eye, because the common daisy opens its petals at dawn and closes them at dusk. A daisy is also two kinds of flower in one: what looks like a single bloom is really a cluster of tiny flowers, the white ray florets around the edge and the yellow disc florets packed into the center. In America, the larger Shasta daisy was developed by the California plant breeder Luther Burbank around 1901 and is still a garden favorite today.
Flower power
In the 1960s and 70s, the simple daisy became a symbol of peace, love and youthful optimism, painted on vans, sewn onto jeans and printed on everything from lunch boxes to wallpaper. A flower power rug, big, bold daisies in orange, hot pink, lemon and lime, brings that sunny, groovy feel back. It suits a retro bedroom, a dorm or a playroom with colorful furniture. For more from the era, see our retro rugs.
Pastel daisies
Daisies on pastel grounds, soft pink, baby blue, mint or butter yellow, are sweet and fresh, a perfect fit for the danish pastel and cute room looks. They pair beautifully with white furniture, wavy mirrors and checkered bedding. For more, see our cute rugs, checkered rugs and wavy rugs.
Daisy chains
Making a daisy chain, splitting each stem and threading the next flower through, is a childhood summer ritual. A rug with a daisy chain around its border, on a soft green or cream ground, is a nostalgic, gentle design for a nursery or a girl's bedroom, and it frames the room without overwhelming it.
Cottage and meadow daisies
For a cottagecore look, daisies growing in a meadow with grass, clover and wildflowers feel like a summer field brought indoors. Daisies with gingham feel like a picnic. Both suit sunrooms, kitchens and bedrooms with floral bedding and wicker. For more cottage designs, see our flower rugs, mushroom rugs and strawberry rugs.
She loves me, she loves me not
Daisies have long stood for innocence, cheerfulness and new beginnings, and generations of children have pulled off their petals one by one, chanting she loves me, she loves me not. That playful, hopeful quality is why a daisy rug feels so right in a young person's room, and why daisies so often appear at weddings, baby showers and spring celebrations.
Gerberas and colorful daisies
Not every daisy is white. Gerbera daisies come in bold pinks, oranges, reds and yellows, and African and painted daisies add purples and blues. A rug of bright gerberas is a cheerful, saturated design for a playroom, a sunny kitchen or a teenager's room that needs a dose of color.
Smiley daisies and preppy rooms
A daisy with a smiley face in its yellow center combines two of the happiest symbols there are, and it's a favorite in preppy pink-and-green rooms. For more, see our smiley face rugs.
Spring and Easter
Daisies are the flowers of spring. A daisy rug in an entryway or a kitchen from March to May feels like the season has arrived, and it pairs naturally with pastel Easter decorations, tulips and little bunnies.
Sisters and shared rooms
For sisters sharing a room, two daisy-shaped rugs in different colors, one pink and one yellow, one beside each bed, give each girl her own flower while keeping the room in harmony.
Bedrooms and dorms
A daisy rug is one of the quickest ways to make a bedroom or a dorm room feel cheerful. A daisy-shaped rug beside the bed, a scattered daisy rug at its foot or a flower power rug in the middle of the floor all work well. For the softest bedside rug, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m²; on a hard dorm floor, Standard grips better. Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.
Nurseries
Soft daisies on pastel make a gentle, happy nursery theme for any baby. Pair a daisy rug with white furniture, soft green or yellow walls and a mobile of paper flowers. Choose Premium for tummy time and first crawls; once your child is walking on a smooth floor, Standard's non-slip back is the safer choice. Our kids and nursery rugs have more ideas.
Kitchens
A daisy rug in front of the sink or under a breakfast table brings a sunny, cottage touch to a kitchen. Choose Standard: 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², which grips the floor and goes in the washing machine after spills. Our kitchen rugs have more ideas.
Bathrooms
A daisy bath mat is a cheerful touch in a bathroom, especially with white tiles. One honest note: our rugs are printed velvet, not thick, quick-drying bath mats, so place one by the vanity or the door, rather than right where you step out of the shower, and choose Standard for its grip on tiles.
Vanity corners
A daisy-shaped rug under a vanity stool or in front of a full-length mirror makes getting ready a little brighter, and it adds a sweet touch to outfit photos.
Round daisy rugs
A round rug with a single big daisy filling the circle, petals reaching to the edge, is a soft, happy shape for a reading corner or under a desk chair. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across. Our round rugs page shows each size in a room.
Entryways and gifts
Just inside the front door, a small daisy rug gives every guest a cheerful welcome; keep it indoors, out of the weather, and choose Standard for its grip. A daisy rug also makes a lovely gift for a new apartment, a graduation, a baby shower or a friend who needs a little sunshine. A daisy-shaped rug is the safest choice; a custom daisy with her name is the most personal.
Your own daisy
Want daisies in your exact colors, a daisy with your name in the center or a design from your own garden? Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′, or cut it to shape. Custom rugs are made just for you and can't be returned, so please check names and spelling before ordering.
Standard or Premium
Standard is best for kitchens, bathrooms, dorms and anywhere with a hard or slippery floor, because its non-slip back stays put. Premium is softer and warmer, best beside a bed or in a nursery. Both are printed the same way, so petals stay white and centers stay sunny, and both go in the washing machine.
Sizes, shipping and returns
Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across, and daisy-shaped rugs from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so your daisies stay fresh all year, no watering required.
One flower, many daisies
What we call a daisy is actually many flowers in one. Each daisy head is a cluster of tiny florets: the yellow center is made of hundreds of small disc florets, and each white petal around it is a separate ray floret. That's true across the whole daisy family, one of the largest groups of flowering plants on Earth, which also includes sunflowers, asters and chamomile.
Several daisies are especially well known. The common lawn daisy, with small white petals tipped pink, has grown in European fields for centuries. The oxeye daisy, taller and wilder, covers meadows and roadsides in early summer. The Shasta daisy, with big, clean white petals, was bred by the American horticulturist Luther Burbank around the turn of the 20th century and named after the snowy peak of Mount Shasta in California. African daisies come in purples, pinks and creams, often with a dark blue eye.
Each one makes a slightly different rug. A scatter of small lawn daisies with pink tips feels sweet and cottagey for a nursery. A meadow of oxeye daisies among grass is relaxed and natural for a sunroom. A single big Shasta daisy, cut to shape, is bold and graphic for a teen's bedroom, and an African daisy in violet and cream brings unexpected color to a living room.
For a gardener, a rug of the daisies they actually grow is a thoughtful gift, especially paired with a packet of seeds and a note about when to sow them.
Shasta daisies are easy to grow in most American gardens, so a daisy rug pairs naturally with a jar of fresh-cut blooms from the yard.
FAQ
Questions about Daisy Rugs
Do you make daisy-shaped rugs?
Yes. A single big daisy with its ring of rounded white petals and a sunny center, cut to shape, from 2.6×2.6 ft (80×80 cm) to 5.2×5.9 ft (160×180 cm).
Are daisy rugs machine washable?
Yes. Daisy-shaped and meadow designs go in on a gentle cold cycle; dry them flat so the petals keep their shape.
Do you make retro flower power daisy rugs?
Yes. Big, bold daisies in orange, hot pink, lemon and lime, inspired by the 1960s and 70s.
What colors do daisy rugs come in?
Classic white and yellow, plus pink, lilac, blue and orange daisies, on pastel, cream, green or bright grounds.
Is a daisy rug good for a nursery?
Yes. White daisies on butter yellow or soft green make a sweet, simple nursery. Premium is softer for tummy time, and Standard holds the floor better once little feet start running.
Can I use a daisy rug in the bathroom?
Yes, in Standard, by the vanity or the door. A retro daisy brightens a bathroom, but the rug is printed velvet, not a quick-drying bath mat, so keep it clear of the shower.
Do you make round daisy rugs?
Yes. A single big daisy filling a round rug from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm), lovely in a reading corner or under a desk chair.
Can I add my name to a daisy rug?
Yes. Your name can bloom in the yellow center of a daisy, or run along a daisy chain, on any custom size up to 5′11″ × 10′. Custom rugs can't be returned.
