An otter rests on a mossy rock in the middle of a slow stream on this Otter Heron Riverbank MTG playmat, whiskers turned toward a grey heron wading on the right. High in the left-hand branches, a kingfisher watches the water for fish. Willow fronds pour down across nearly half the sky.
Blue water and pale willow green set a cool, quiet tone. Water lilies and yellow marsh marigolds break up the lower third. Purple irises frame both bottom corners, so the edges of the play area feel finished rather than cropped.
The Art: Embroidered Willow Stream
Gold thread outlines catch the otter, the lily pads and the curve of the heron's neck, giving the piece an embroidered, stitched-tapestry look. Every willow leaf is drawn on its own. The river skips the smooth gradient and uses rippled bands of navy and white instead, a nod to woodblock prints and textile water. Compared with the darker forest designs in our collection, this one opens up in the middle and leans greener overall, with cattails standing in for punctuation marks along the banks.
Otter Heron Riverbank at the Table
Spread out, the mat measures 24 x 14 in (61.5 x 35.5 cm), the standard tournament size used at most stores. Its micro-fiber top is smooth enough for cards to slide yet soft enough to lift a single sleeve with a fingertip. Below, a non-slip rubber base holds firm on wood, glass or a folding table. Because the art is dye-sublimated into the fabric, the riverbank keeps its color after many rolls and washes. It belongs to our Magic playmats line, and our flagship woodland tapestry playmat carries the same theme in another scene. Players of other games can browse all our TCG playmats.
With Zones or Without Zones
Go With Zones and you get subtle markers for library, graveyard, exile and the command zone, along with battlefield lanes for lands and creatures. As an MTG playmat with zones it handles Commander/EDH and 60-card formats alike. Without Zones shows the stream untouched. Either way, the otter stays clear of the card areas.
