About Red Dead Redemption Mouse Pads

Red Dead Redemption mouse pads for the desk

Our Red Dead Redemption mouse pads and desk mats carry art inspired by Rockstar's frontier, printed in high resolution over the whole surface of a 3 mm neoprene pad with a fabric top, a non-slip base and stitched edges. The eight sizes stretch from an 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) mouse pad to a 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm) mat for the entire desk, and the product page of every design shows the ones you can order it in. Nothing is printed ahead of time; your pad is made after you check out.

The series began with Red Dead Revolver in 2004. Red Dead Redemption followed in 2010 with John Marston's story in 1911, and Red Dead Redemption 2 went back to 1899 and Arthur Morgan in 2018, reaching PC in November 2019. The first Red Dead Redemption finally arrived on PC in October 2024. Both games are about the frontier closing, and their palette of dust, leather, gold light and long shadows is one of the warmest a desk can carry.

Dead Eye and the mouse

Dead Eye is the series' signature mechanic: time slows, the screen drains toward a warm sepia, and you mark targets before firing at all of them at once. With Dead Eye upgraded in the second game, you can mark several targets by sweeping the crosshair across them, which on PC turns it into a test of smooth mouse control.

That is a job for an even, consistent surface. The fabric top lets the mouse glide through several targets in one motion without catching, and the non-slip base keeps the mat from shifting when the shots go off. If you play with low sensitivity, a long mat gives your arm room to sweep a full arc.

The Dead Eye palette also suggests a lighting scheme. Amber bulbs or a warm white lamp make a sepia-toned design look like the game's slowed moment, held still on the desk.

A horizon across the desk

The frontier is a wide subject. Plains, mesas, mountain ridges and river valleys all run horizontally, which suits the shape of a desk mat better than almost any figure does. The keyboard can sit over a stretch of prairie without hiding anything important, and the horizon line ends up just behind it, roughly where your eye falls when you look up from the keys.

Place the sun deliberately. A sunset at the far end from your mouse hand stays in view all day, while the near end, under your wrist, can be shadowed grass or dust. On a deep XXL, the sky gets room to do the work, with clouds and gold light filling the space between the keyboard and the monitor.

A map on old paper

The second game's map is drawn like a hand-made chart on aged paper, with rivers, trails and shaded mountains, and it fills in as you explore. It covers five states, New Hanover, Ambarino, Lemoyne, West Elizabeth and New Austin, with the city of Saint Denis in the southeast and the desert of New Austin in the southwest, the region John Marston rides through in the first game.

A map design needs room for its names and trails to stay legible, so choose XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), or larger. The paper tone, cream and brown with faded ink, is one of the easiest Red Dead looks to live with: it suits a wooden desk and reads as an antique map to anyone who hasn't played.

Gunsmith engravings as a border

At the gunsmith in the second game, you can customize a revolver or rifle down to its metal finish and its engraving: scrollwork, floral patterns and filigree cut into the frame and barrel. That ornament is one of the handsomest details in the game, and it makes a fine border around a dark mat, gold or silver lines on deep brown, with the center left plain for the keyboard.

The weapons themselves have useful shapes too. A rifle, such as a Springfield or a Lancaster repeater, is long and thin, so it lies along an M or L strip above the keyboard. A single revolver, a Cattleman or a Schofield, fits the small pad. A black-and-gold engraving design suits a black desk, brass accents and warm light.

Cigarette cards and the small pad

Scattered through the second game are cigarette cards, small collectibles with lithograph-style illustrations of subjects such as animals, inventions, gunslingers and stage stars, gathered in themed sets. Cards like these were real objects of the period, and the game's versions copy that look: a framed picture, a title, muted color and a cream border.

That format is made for the 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad. A single card-style illustration, placed toward the top so your palm doesn't cover it, has the look of a vintage collectible. On a 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm) mat, a short row of cards can sit side by side like an album page.

Period lettering and old print

Rockstar dressed the second game in period typography: the general store catalogue with its engraved product drawings, the ornate lettering of shop signs and the newspapers you can buy in town. Victorian display type, with heavy serifs and decorative frames, has a strong graphic quality of its own.

A typographic design, a catalogue page or a poster-style layout in black and brown ink on cream, is the most low-key way to bring Red Dead to a desk. It suits an office or a study, works with any keyboard color and rewards a closer look, because players will recognize the products and names in the small print.

Towns as desk palettes

Each town in the second game has its own color, and choosing by town is a simple way to match the mat to the room.

  • Valentine: mud, timber and cattle pens, warm browns for a walnut desk.
  • Strawberry: pine forest and log buildings in the hills, for light oak and green plants.
  • Rhodes: red earth and brick, for a desk with terracotta or rust accents.
  • Saint Denis: gaslight, streetcars and smoke, for a dark desk with warm white light.
  • Blackwater: a tidy, growing frontier town, for a lighter, cleaner setup.
  • Armadillo and Tumbleweed: bleached wood and desert sun in New Austin, for a sandy, minimal desk.

Weather and the time of day

Few games spend as much effort on light. Dawn in the Heartlands comes up pink and pale, noon in New Austin is white and harsh, dusk turns every plain gold and orange, and night is deep blue with the yellow glow of a lantern or a campfire. Fog rolls through the Lemoyne bayou, snow buries the Grizzlies and thunderstorms move across the plains.

Those moods map straight onto a desk. A dawn scene suits a white desk in a sunny room. A dusk scene suits warm lighting and dark wood. A night scene with a single lantern suits a black setup with almost no RGB, where the lantern in the art becomes the brightest point on the desk. Fog in the bayou is the quietest choice, gray-green and soft, for a work desk.

Riding on a keyboard

On PC, you spur your horse by tapping a key, and a long ride across the map means a lot of rhythmic tapping while the mouse steers the camera. Hunting, lassoing and shooting from the saddle add mouse work on top. It is a game that keeps both hands busy for hours at a stretch.

That makes the base of the mat as important as the top. The non-slip underside keeps the keyboard from creeping during a long gallop, and the cushioned neoprene is softer under the wrist than a bare desk. If you switch to a controller for riding and back to the mouse for shooting, an XL leaves room for both, with the controller parked at the end of the keyboard.

1911 and the first game's desert

John Marston's story in the first game is drier and brighter than Arthur's. It starts around Armadillo and the scrubland of New Austin, crosses the river into Nuevo Paraíso in Mexico, and moves north into West Elizabeth, where automobiles and government agents have already reached Blackwater. The colors are bleached sand, red rock and hard blue sky.

A 1911 design suits a minimal desk with sandy or white tones, or a walnut desk under a bright lamp. With the first game now on PC, a design that leans on New Austin's mesas also links the two stories, since the region appears in both.

Sizes for a Red Dead desk

The sizes each design comes in are listed on its product page. This is how they suit Red Dead art.

L, 11.8″ × 31.5″ (30 × 80 cm), adds a little length to a horizon strip, and 3XL, 19.7″ × 39.4″ (50 × 100 cm), gives a map or a sky scene more depth when an XXL won't fit.

Gifts for an outlaw

A Red Dead pad suits someone who finished Arthur's story and still thinks about it, a player who finally tried the first game on PC, or a Red Dead Online regular who rides with the same posse every week. The second game's release anniversary, October 26, falls nicely before the holidays. If you're unsure which design they'd want, a horizon at sunset fits either game; if you're unsure of the desk, an XL fits a keyboard and mouse almost anywhere.

Count on 1–3 business days to print and finish the pad. It then ships from Turkey and normally takes another 2–5 business days to reach the US.

Keeping trail dust off

Dusty plains and paper-toned maps show wrist marks sooner than night scenes. A damp cloth over the surface every week or two keeps them from building up. When the pad needs a real clean, hand wash it in lukewarm water with a mild soap, rinse it thoroughly, press out the water with a towel and leave it to dry flat. A washing machine, a dryer or an iron would do it no favors; the fade-resistant print keeps the gold of a sunset without them.

A note on names

FAQ

Questions about Red Dead Redemption Mouse Pads

Does a mouse pad help with Dead Eye on PC?

It helps the sweep. With Dead Eye upgraded, you can mark several targets by dragging the crosshair across them, and the fabric top lets the mouse glide through that arc in one smooth motion without catching.

Which Red Dead design suits a dark desk?

A night scene with a single lantern or campfire, or Saint Denis under gaslight. Both look right with black peripherals and warm white light, and they need almost no RGB.

What size shows the whole Red Dead Redemption 2 map?

Go to XL or larger. The five states, with their town names and trails, stay readable from 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), and an XXL, 23.6″ × 35.4″ (60 × 90 cm), gives the whole map more breathing room.

Which Red Dead design is low-key enough for an office?

A catalogue-style page of period type and engravings, the paper map or a foggy bayou scene. Each reads as vintage print or landscape art to colleagues, and as Red Dead to anyone who played.

What makes a good small Red Dead mouse pad?

A single cigarette-card-style illustration or one revolver, placed toward the top of the 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad. Card art in a cream frame keeps its vintage look even while your palm covers the lower half.

Is Rockstar involved in these Red Dead pads?

Rockstar isn't involved at any stage. Padrift, an independent studio, draws its own frontier-inspired designs and prints each pad when it's ordered; Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive haven't licensed, sponsored or approved them.
