About Nike Rugs
Built for sneakerheads and athletes
A Nike-inspired rug celebrates the culture that grew up around one of the most famous names in sport: classic sneaker silhouettes, the grid of a waffle sole, the lanes of a running track and the painted lines of a basketball court. It's a natural fit for a sneaker room, a home gym, a teenager's bedroom or anyone who lives in athletic gear. Ours are printed edge to edge on soft velvet, so bold lines and colors come out crisp, and every rug goes in the washing machine. To be clear from the start: these are independent designs inspired by athletic and sneaker style, not Nike products, and they don't use the brand's logos or slogans.
A short history
The company began in 1964 as Blue Ribbon Sports, founded by University of Oregon track coach Bill Bowerman and his former runner Phil Knight, and took the name Nike, after the Greek goddess of victory, in 1971. That same year, a design student named Carolyn Davidson drew its famous logo for a small fee. Bowerman, always experimenting, poured rubber into his family's waffle iron to create a lighter, grippier running sole, which led to the company's famous waffle trainer in the 1970s. In 1985, a signature basketball shoe for a young Michael Jordan changed sneaker culture forever. Today, the brand is one of the most recognized in the world.

| Athletic color blocks | Bold panels of team colors and sport stripes | Teen rooms, studios |
Sneaker silhouettes
For a sneakerhead, a rug with a classic sneaker silhouette, a low-top runner, a high-top basketball shoe or a chunky trainer, is the perfect centerpiece for a display room. A row of sneakers in different colorways looks like a shelf of grails laid on the floor. For more, see our sneaker rugs and Jordan-inspired rugs.
The waffle sole
The waffle pattern, a grid of raised squares that grips the track, is one of the great design ideas in running history. As a rug, it's a subtle, graphic texture that suits an entryway, a mudroom or a home gym, a quiet nod to running culture that reads simply as a geometric pattern.
Running tracks
A rug printed like a running track, red lanes with white lines, lane numbers and a finish line, is a great design for a runner's bedroom, a home gym or a long hallway. Through a custom size up to 10 ft long, a straight stretch of track can run the length of a hallway, with your name or your personal best at the finish.
Court lines
Basketball and tennis courts have their own iconic markings. A court-line rug, a basketball key and three-point arc or a tennis service box, suits a game room, a kid's bedroom or a sports fan's den. For basketball, see our basketball rugs, and for more sports designs, our sports rugs.
Sneaker rooms
A sneaker room is all about display: well-lit shelves or glass cases, clean walls and a rug in the center that ties the collection together. A 4×6 or 5×7 ft athletic-inspired rug in a color that picks up your collection works best. For more, see our hypebeast and streetwear rugs.
Home gyms
In a home gym, a rug adds comfort and motivation around the training area. Use a rug for stretching, cool-downs and the space around equipment rather than directly under heavy weights or machines. Choose Standard: 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², which stays put. For heavy lifting and high-impact training, a dedicated rubber gym floor is the right surface.
Teen bedrooms and dorms
For teenagers into sports and sneakers, an athletic-inspired rug is an easy way to give a bedroom personality: white walls, a few framed jerseys, sneakers on display and a bold rug at the foot of the bed. For the softest bedside rug, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m²; under a desk chair, choose Standard. Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.
Running culture
The brand's story began on a running track in Eugene, Oregon, a city so devoted to the sport that it calls itself TrackTown USA, home of the famous Hayward Field. Running culture has only grown since: local run clubs, city marathons, early-morning 5Ks and the shared satisfaction of a new personal best. A running-track rug is a fitting tribute for any runner, and a daily reminder to lace up.
Sneaker collecting
Since the 1980s, sneakers have become far more than sports equipment. Limited releases sell out in minutes, collectors camp out for drops and rare pairs change hands for remarkable sums. For a collector, the room where those pairs are displayed deserves a floor that matches, and a rug in the colors of a favorite colorway pulls the whole display together.
Kids' rooms
For young athletes, a court or track rug makes a bedroom feel like a training ground, and a soft place to sit after practice. On a hard floor, choose Standard so the rug stays put when kids run in. Our kids play rugs page has more ideas.
Round and shaped rugs
A round rug with a court's center circle, or a rug cut to the outline of a single sneaker, adds a playful touch to a bedroom or a sneaker room. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across, and our shaped rugs from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm).
Entryways
Just inside the front door, where sneakers come off, a waffle-sole or sneaker rug catches dirt and makes a fun first impression. Keep it indoors, out of the weather, and choose Standard for its grip.
Gifts
An athletic-inspired rug is a great gift for a runner, a sneakerhead, a high school athlete or a coach. A running-track rug with a personal best is the most personal choice; a sneaker silhouette is the safest.
Colors
Athletic style loves bold contrast: black and white, volt yellow, university red, royal blue, bright orange and team colors. A black and white rug with one bright accent suits a minimal sneaker room; a colorful track or court suits a kid's room or a game room.
Locker rooms and team spaces
Schools, clubs and coaches sometimes want a rug for a team room or a locker room lounge. A court or track rug in team colors with the team's own name, through a custom rug, gives the space a sense of pride. For a busy room with lots of foot traffic, choose Standard, which stays put and goes in the washing machine after the season.
Offices and studios
For athletes, coaches and fitness professionals working from home, an athletic-inspired rug under the desk keeps the training mindset close. Under a desk chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft, which lets wheels roll freely.
Your own design
Want a track with your race times, a court in your team's colors or a jersey with your number? Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′. Please only send artwork you're allowed to use, which rules out brand logos and slogans you don't own; your own name, numbers and team colors are all fine. Custom rugs can't be returned.

Standard or Premium
Standard is best for home gyms, entryways, under desk chairs and anywhere with a hard or slippery floor, because its non-slip back stays put. Premium is softer and warmer, best in bedrooms and lounges. Both are printed the same way, so lines stay sharp and colors stay bold, and both go in the washing machine.
Sizes, shipping and returns
Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across, and shaped rugs from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so it keeps its colors, workout after workout.
A note on the brand
The marathon
The marathon is 26.2 miles, a distance fixed at the 1908 London Olympics and standardized in the 1920s. The Boston Marathon, first run in 1897, is the oldest annual marathon in the world, and the New York City Marathon, which began in 1970 with a few laps of Central Park, now winds through all five boroughs.
For runners, those races inspire meaningful rugs. A route map traced as a single line across a city, with the start, the finish and the mile markers, makes a beautiful keepsake for anyone who has run it. A race bib with your own number and the date, styled like the real thing but clearly your own design, is a fun gift after a first marathon.
Track designs offer another angle. A standard outdoor track is 400 meters around with eight lanes, and staggered starting lines make sure every runner covers the same distance. A rug of lanes curving into a bend, with the start lines and lane numbers, suits a home gym or a teenager's room, especially for someone who runs track.
These designs pair well with energetic colors, volt yellow, bright orange or crisp white on black, and a wall of medals or race photos. They speak to the culture of running itself, with no logos needed.
