About Chrome Hearts Rugs
Rock and roll, cast in silver
Chrome Hearts began in Los Angeles in 1988, when Richard Stark started making rugged leather riding gear and silver hardware for himself and his biker friends. Its look, ornate crosses, fleur-de-lis, daggers and horseshoes cast in heavy sterling silver, with gothic blackletter lettering on black leather, quickly caught on with rock musicians, and later with hip-hop artists, designers and collectors around the world. Today it's one of the most coveted luxury names in streetwear, known for handmade pieces and a fiercely loyal following.
A Chrome Hearts-inspired rug brings that dark, ornate, rock-and-roll language onto the floor of a bedroom, a studio or a streetwear room. Ours are printed into short velvet, so fine silver detail and deep black come out crisp, and they go in the washing machine. To be clear from the start: these are independent designs inspired by the style, not Chrome Hearts products, and they don't use the brand's logos or trademarks.
Made by hand
Part of the mystique of the brand is how its pieces are made: much of the work is done by hand in its own Los Angeles workshops, from silver casting to leatherwork, in limited quantities. That focus on craft, rather than mass production, is why its look feels heavy, detailed and personal. A rug inspired by it should feel the same way, with ornament that rewards a closer look: fine filigree, tiny engraved lines and carefully balanced symmetry.
From cathedrals to the street
The crosses, fleurs-de-lis and blackletter of this style all come from much older sources: the carved stone and wrought iron of medieval cathedrals, heraldic shields and hand-lettered manuscripts. Rock musicians borrowed that imagery for its sense of drama and rebellion, and streetwear borrowed it from them. A gothic-inspired rug carries all of that history, which is why it feels at home in a modern loft as easily as in a dark, traditional room.
Gothic crosses
The ornate cross, with flared, decorated arms and a sense of old craftsmanship, is the heart of the style. On a rug, a single large silver-gray cross on a black ground is dramatic and graphic, at home in a dark bedroom or a music room. A pattern of smaller crosses scattered across black or cream is subtler, almost like a damask. Gothic crosses have a long history in medieval art and architecture, which is part of why they feel timeless rather than trendy.
Fleur-de-lis, daggers and horseshoes
The fleur-de-lis, the stylized lily of French heraldry, adds elegance; daggers and horseshoes add a biker's edge. Together with crosses, they make up a whole vocabulary of ornament. A rug that combines them, arranged symmetrically like a crest, is a striking centerpiece for a streetwear room or a studio.
Blackletter lettering
Gothic blackletter type, the dense, angular lettering of medieval manuscripts, is another signature of the look. A rug with a single word, your name or a phrase in blackletter, through our custom rugs, feels personal and a little rebellious. Please only send artwork you're allowed to use, which rules out brand logos and trademarked wordmarks you don't own; your own words in a gothic style are all fine.
Silver on black
The palette is simple and powerful: silver-gray and black, sometimes with a touch of white, red or pink. Because our rugs are printed, the silver is a rich printed gray rather than metallic thread, clean and crisp rather than shiny. Silver on black suits rooms with black walls, leather furniture, dark wood and warm, low lighting in the evening.
| Palette | The mood | Pairs with |
|---|---|---|
| Silver on black | Classic, dark, luxurious | Black leather, dark wood, low light |
| Black on cream | Softer, gallery-like | White walls, black metal, art books |
| Pink and black | Playful, edgy | Streetwear bedrooms, vanity corners |
| Red and black | Bold, rock-and-roll | Music rooms, studios, man caves |
Silver on black is closest to the gothic silver look that made the style famous and works with black leather furniture; pink and black suits a bedroom or a vanity corner.
The streetwear room
For a collector of streetwear and luxury pieces, a cross rug is the perfect anchor for a display room: black shelving, good lighting, a few framed pieces and a rug in the center that sets the mood. A 4×6 or 5×7 ft rug works well in the middle of the floor. For more, see our hypebeast and streetwear rugs.
Dark bedrooms
A gothic cross rug beside the bed or at its foot suits a dark, moody bedroom: black or charcoal walls, dark bedding, a leather headboard and soft amber lighting. For the softest feel underfoot, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m². Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts, and our gothic rugs page has more dark, dramatic designs.
Music rooms and studios
The style was born in rock and roll, and it belongs in a music room: a guitar on the wall, an amp in the corner and a cross rug on the floor. A soft rug also helps absorb echo in a room with hard floors, a small practical bonus for anyone who plays or records. Under a desk chair or a studio stool, choose Standard: 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², which stays put. Our music rugs page has more ideas.
Round and shaped rugs
A round rug with a single ornate cross at its center, or a ring of crosses around the edge, is a striking choice under a desk chair or in a dressing room. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across. Our shaped rugs can also be cut to the outline of a cross or a heart, in sizes from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Our round rugs page shows each round size in a room.
Dressing rooms and closets
For anyone who collects jewelry, leather jackets or boots, a dressing room or a walk-in closet is the natural home for this style. A gothic cross or fleur-de-lis rug in front of a mirror, with black shelving and good lighting on the collection, turns getting dressed into a small ritual.
Hearts and the softer side
Hearts drawn in an ornate, gothic style, edged with filigree or pierced by a dagger, bring a romantic edge to the look. A pink or red gothic heart rug suits a bedroom, a vanity corner or a dorm room, and it pairs well with black and silver accents.
Mixing with other styles
The look pairs naturally with black leather, dark velvet, distressed denim and a touch of animal print, especially leopard or snakeskin. A silver cross rug with a leopard throw, or a blackletter rug beside a checkered black and white floor, feels layered and confident. For more, see our leopard rugs and checkered rugs.
Entryways
Just inside the front door, a 2×3 or 2.6×3.9 ft cross or fleur-de-lis rug makes a bold first impression. Choose Standard for its grip on tile and wood, and keep it indoors, out of the weather.

Lighting the look
Dark, ornate rooms come alive with the right light. Warm, low lamps, a few candles and a single spotlight on a display shelf bring out the silver detail in the rug and keep a black room from feeling flat. Avoid harsh overhead light; let the corners stay a little shadowy.
Standard or Premium
Standard is best under desk chairs and stools, in hallways and on hard floors, because its non-slip back stays put. Premium is softer and warmer, best in bedrooms and lounges. Both are printed the same way, so fine detail stays crisp and black stays deep, and both go in the washing machine.
Sizes, shipping and returns
Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft. Round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across, and shaped rugs from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm). Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Gifts
A Chrome Hearts-inspired rug is a great gift for a streetwear collector, a musician or a friend whose whole wardrobe is black and silver. A custom blackletter rug with their name is the most personal choice; a single silver cross on black is the safest.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the silver stays crisp and the black stays deep, wash after wash, year after year.
A note on the brand
The look of oxidized silver
Gothic silver jewelry gets its depth from oxidation: the recessed parts of a cross or a fleur-de-lis are darkened, while the raised edges are polished bright. That contrast is what makes cast silver look rich rather than flat, and it ages naturally as a piece is worn, the high points shining and the crevices staying dark.
A rug can borrow that effect with a print that shades each motif from bright silver to near black, so crosses, daggers and blackletter letters look carved rather than drawn. On a black ground the design reads like a velvet jewelry tray; on charcoal or dark brown it feels warmer and more vintage.
Lighting matters as much as the rug. A single warm spotlight or a lamp with a black shade picks out the silver tones, and a few real pieces on a dark shelf nearby, rings in a dish, a chain on a hook, tie the rug to the collection that inspired it. Keep the walls dark and the metals cool, and the room takes on the moody glamour of a late-night studio.

FAQ
Questions about Chrome Hearts Rugs
Are these official Chrome Hearts rugs?
No. They are Chrome Hearts-inspired designs printed by Padrift, an independent studio. We are not affiliated with Chrome Hearts, and these are not its products.
What does a Chrome Hearts-inspired rug look like?
Ornate gothic crosses, fleur-de-lis, daggers, horseshoes and blackletter lettering, usually in silver-gray on black.
Is the silver on the rug metallic?
No. The silver is a rich printed gray, not metallic thread, so it looks crisp and clean rather than shiny.
Can I get my name in gothic lettering?
Yes. Custom rugs can print your name or a phrase in blackletter, in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′. Brand wordmarks you don't own are out.
Do you make a cross-shaped or round rug?
Yes. Shaped rugs can be cut to a cross or heart from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm), and round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm).
Which rug goes under a desk chair or studio stool?
Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft, or a round gothic cross 3.3 to 4.6 ft (100 to 140 cm) across. Silver on black looks sharp in a studio, and the faux leather back lets a stool or desk chair roll.
Are Chrome Hearts-inspired rugs machine washable?
Yes. Silver-on-black and pink-and-black designs wash on a gentle cold cycle; dry flat. The silver stays crisp and the black stays deep.
Which streetwear rugs pair with Chrome Hearts-inspired designs?
BAPE-, Supreme-, Off-White-, Stüssy- and Louis Vuitton-inspired pages, plus gothic and music rugs.
