About Wicked Rugs
Pink and green, together
Two unlikely friends, one born green and misunderstood, the other bubbly, pink and popular, and the story of how they became the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good: Wicked turned a classic villain into one of the most loved heroines in musical theater. A Wicked-inspired rug brings that story's color and magic into a room: a rug split between blush pink and emerald green, a glittering Emerald City skyline, a witch's broom and pointed hat, a shimmering pink bubble or a field of bright tulips. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine.

Pink and green together is the classic pairing for best friends who share a room, while the Emerald City suits a bedroom.
From novel to Broadway to film
Wicked began as a 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, retelling L. Frank Baum's land of Oz from the point of view of the Wicked Witch of the West, whom he named Elphaba. In 2003, it became a Broadway musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, opening at the Gershwin Theatre in New York, and it grew into one of the longest-running and most successful shows in Broadway history. In 2024, director Jon M. Chu brought it to the screen with Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda, and the second part, Wicked: For Good, followed in 2025. The first film won Academy Awards for its production design and costumes.
Pink and green
The show's two heroines are defined by their colors: Elphaba's emerald green and Glinda's soft, sparkly pink. A rug split down the middle, or swirled together, in blush pink and emerald green is a joyful design for a shared room, a theater lover's bedroom or a best friend's gift, a reminder that opposites can change each other for good. For more pink designs, see our Barbie-inspired rugs.
The Emerald City
The glittering capital of Oz, all green glass spires and gleaming towers, is where the friends' lives change forever. An Emerald City rug, a skyline in shades of green with gold accents, is a magical design for a bedroom or a living room. For the original yellow brick road, see our Wizard of Oz rugs.
The broom and the hat
A witch's broom and a tall black pointed hat are the simplest symbols of the story, and the show's most famous song, the soaring Act One finale Defying Gravity, sends Elphaba flying on that broom. A broom-and-hat rug on green or black is a subtle, stylish design for a teen room, and a fun choice for October. For more spooky-season designs, see our Halloween rugs.
The pink bubble
Glinda arrives in a shimmering pink bubble, and it's one of the most delightful images in the story. A round rug with a glossy, iridescent pink bubble is a sweet design for a girl's room or a vanity corner. Our round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across.
Tulip fields
For the 2024 film, the production famously planted millions of real tulips to create the colorful fields of Munchkinland, rather than relying on computer effects. A tulip-field rug, rows of red, pink, orange and yellow tulips under a bright blue sky, is a cheerful design for a nursery, a sunroom or a spring living room. For more blooms, see our flower rugs.
Ornate Oz style
The look of Oz in the musical and films mixes Art Nouveau curves, clockwork details and a lot of green and gold. A rug with ornate green and gold scrollwork borders is an elegant, theatrical design for a dressing room or a study, glamorous without shouting.
A story about being different
Much of Wicked's power comes from its message: the girl everyone calls wicked is really brave, kind and misunderstood, and the one everyone loves has to learn what goodness really means. For many fans, especially anyone who has ever felt like an outsider, that story means a great deal. A green rug in a bedroom can be a quiet daily reminder to be proud of what makes you different.
Pairing with furniture
These rugs look best with white or gold furniture, a velvet chair in emerald or blush, a gilded mirror and a few framed playbills. Keep the walls light and let the pink and green carry the color, or go bold with an emerald accent wall.
Theater lovers' rooms
For a theater kid or a lifelong musical fan, a Wicked-inspired rug is the centerpiece of the room. Pair it with a few framed playbills, a vanity with lights and a shelf of cast recordings. On a hard floor, choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², so the rug stays put during living-room performances. For a softer bedroom rug, choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m². Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.
Dressing rooms and vanities
In front of a mirror with lights, a pink bubble or a gold Oz-border rug turns a vanity into a backstage dressing room. Under a vanity chair with wheels, choose Standard, which stays put.
Shared rooms and best friends
At its heart, the story is about friendship. For sisters or best friends sharing a room, a pink-and-green split rug, or two round rugs, one pink and one green, celebrates both personalities.
Dorms
For college students, especially theater majors, a pink-and-green or Emerald City rug brings personality to a small dorm room. Choose Standard on a hard dorm floor.
Shaped rugs
A rug cut to the shape of a witch's pointed hat, or a bubble, is a playful piece beside a bed. Our shaped rugs come in sizes from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm).
Hallways
A long hallway can become a yellow-brick path to the Emerald City. A custom runner up to 10 ft long with the glittering green skyline at one end makes a magical walk. Choose Standard, which stays put as people walk by.
A souvenir of the show
For many families, seeing the musical on Broadway or on a national tour is a once-in-a-lifetime treat. A Wicked-inspired rug is a lasting souvenir of that night, especially a custom design with the date you went, so the memory stays in the room long after the playbill fades.
Entryways
Just inside the front door, an Emerald City or broom-and-hat rug gives guests a magical welcome, especially in October. Keep it indoors, out of the weather, and choose Standard for its grip on tile and wood.
Colors
Wicked-inspired designs look best in emerald green, blush pink, black and gold, with sky blue and the bright tulip colors of Munchkinland. Pink and green together is the signature; emerald and gold is the most elegant.

Gifts
A Wicked-inspired rug makes a great gift for a theater lover, a best friend or a young fan after a first trip to see the show. A pink-and-green rug is the most meaningful choice for a pair of friends.
Your own design

Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′, or cut it to shape. Please only send artwork you're allowed to use; film stills, posters and lyrics belong to their owners. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the emerald stays bright, wash after wash, for good.
Shiz University
Before she is known as the Wicked Witch of the West, Elphaba is a student at Shiz University, where she is forced to share a room with Galinda, the most popular girl on campus. Their unlikely friendship, filled with rivalry, jealousy and genuine love, is the heart of the story. At Shiz, they meet Madame Morrible, the ambitious headmistress who teaches sorcery, Fiyero, the carefree prince who changes everything, and Doctor Dillamond, a goat professor who warns that Oz's talking Animals are losing their voices.
The 2024 film adaptation, Wicked, brought Shiz to life with soaring towers, green-glass windows and a university library full of books and secrets, and its sequel, Wicked: For Good, followed in 2025.
Those details inspire rugs that feel collegiate and magical. A university crest-style design in green and pink, without official marks, is a fun piece for a dorm room. A pair of mismatched beds, one pink and frilly and one dark and plain, captures the roommates' clash for a shared bedroom. A towering library shelf with a goat's spectacles resting on an open book is a gentle nod to Doctor Dillamond for a reading nook.
For best friends who see themselves in Elphaba and Glinda, a rug split into pink and green with a single heart where the colors meet makes a meaningful gift, a reminder that friendship can change you for good.
For theater students and drama clubs, a Shiz-inspired rug makes a fun backstage touch.
