About Shinobu Mouse Pads

Shinobu mouse pads for the desk

The Shinobu mouse pads and desk mats on this page are original Padrift art inspired by Shinobu Kocho of Demon Slayer. Every one is a 3 mm neoprene pad printed edge to edge, with a fabric top, a non-slip base and stitched edges. Choose any of eight sizes between 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) and 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm); we print your pad after the order comes through.

This page sits under Demon Slayer and is about one Hashira. Tanjiro and Nezuko have their own pages, and the rest of the series, Zenitsu, Inosuke, Rengoku, the other Hashira and the demons, is on the Demon Slayer page. One more thing before you scroll: this is Shinobu Kocho of Demon Slayer, not Shinobu Oshino of the Monogatari series.

The Insect Hashira

Shinobu is one of the nine Hashira, the strongest swordsmen of the Demon Slayer Corps, and the only one who cannot cut off a demon's head. She is small and not strong enough for it, so she found another way: she studied medicine and poison and learned to kill demons with toxins made from wisteria. That makes her a doctor and a pharmacist as well as a fighter, and her style of fighting, Insect Breathing, was built around it.

That mix of science and grace is what Shinobu designs draw on. She is a fighter who looks like she belongs in a garden, and her art is light, precise and a little unsettling at the same time.

A haori like butterfly wings

Over her Corps uniform, Shinobu wears a haori patterned like a butterfly's wings, with dark lines running through it like the veins of a wing. When she moves, it opens around her, and in a fight she seems to drift rather than run.

On a desk mat, that pattern behaves like a pair of wings spread wide: it fills the width of an XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), and the wing tips stay in view at both ends even with a keyboard in the middle. It is pale and airy, which makes it one of the few Demon Slayer designs that looks at home on a white desk with white peripherals.

Purple-tipped hair and a butterfly ornament

Shinobu's dark hair fades to purple at the ends and is pinned up with a butterfly ornament, and her eyes are a pale violet. Those small details are enough to identify her without a full portrait.

A single butterfly hair ornament, or a lock of black hair turning purple, makes a delicate design for the small 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad. Place it toward the top, where your hand doesn't rest, and it reads as a pretty butterfly graphic to visitors and as Shinobu to fans of the show.

A sword built to sting

Because she doesn't cut heads, Shinobu's Nichirin sword isn't built for cutting. It is slim and pointed, made for thrusting, so she can drive poison into a demon with a single precise strike.

A long, thin blade is a natural fit for the long strips. On an M, 11.8″ × 27.6″ (30 × 70 cm), a sword drawn along the top edge, point toward the mouse, frames the keyboard from above and keeps the design minimal. It suits a desk where you want a clear symbol rather than a busy picture.

Four dances named after insects

Insect Breathing's forms are named after insects, and each one gives a design its own small motif:

  • Butterfly Dance: Caprice, a fluttering series of thrusts, for a scatter of butterflies across a pale ground.
  • Dance of the Bee Sting: True Flutter, a single piercing strike, for a bee or a stinger on a dark pad.
  • Dance of the Dragonfly: Compound Eye Hexagon, six strikes at once, for a pattern of hexagons in purple and teal.
  • Dance of the Centipede: Hundred-Legged Zigzag, a fast, jagged approach, for a zigzag line running the length of a long mat.

Four small pads, each with one insect, make a neat set for a desk with a laptop, a tablet and a second mouse, or for friends who each pick a form.

Wisteria as medicine and poison

Demons hate wisteria, and Shinobu turns that weakness into her weapon by distilling the flower into poison. Purple wisteria hanging in long clusters is one of the loveliest images in the series, and it belongs to Shinobu more than to anyone else.

A wisteria design, purple blossoms falling from the top edge of the mat, suits lilac or purple lighting and a white or light gray desk. Because the flowers hang down, they work well on the deep sizes, XXL and 4XL, where the blossoms fill the space above the keyboard and leave the lower half calm for your hands.

The Butterfly Mansion

Shinobu runs the Butterfly Mansion, the Corps' house of healing, where wounded slayers recover. It is staffed by Aoi Kanzaki and three little girls, Sumi, Kiyo and Naho, and it is home to Kanao Tsuyuri, Shinobu's quiet adopted sister, who decides what to do by tossing a coin. Tanjiro, Zenitsu and Inosuke spend weeks there after Mount Natagumo, getting back on their feet through painful rehabilitation training.

The mansion gives Shinobu art a peaceful setting: a Japanese garden, butterflies, wooden verandas and medicine on a tray. That makes a calm design for a study desk, or for anyone who spends long hours at a computer and wants something soothing to look at.

A smile that hides anger

Shinobu almost always smiles. She speaks gently, teases her fellow Hashira and offers demons friendship in a soft voice, but behind the smile is a deep, quiet rage. It is one of the most interesting contrasts in the series, and it gives her art two moods.

The smiling Shinobu, in daylight with butterflies around her, suits a bright desk. The angry Shinobu, eyes cold, butterflies dark against the night, suits a gaming setup in a dim room. If you can't decide, a design with her smiling face at one end and a dark swarm of butterflies at the other holds both.

Lilac light and a pale desk

Shinobu's colors, lilac, violet, pale teal and white, are cool and soft, and they look their best in cool light. A white desk, a white or lilac keyboard and a single purple or lilac LED strip turn a Shinobu pad into the center of a calm, coordinated setup. Warm yellow bulbs flatten those purples, so if your room is lit warm, choose one of the darker night designs instead.

For a black desk, let the butterflies do the work. A dark background with a few glowing violet butterflies scattered toward the edges keeps the center clear for the keyboard and still says Shinobu from across the room.

The Kocho sisters

Shinobu's older sister, Kanae, was the Flower Hashira, a gentle swordswoman who believed demons could be pitied. She was killed by Doma, Upper Rank Two, and Shinobu took up the fight in her place, keeping a gentle, smiling manner on the surface.

A design with both sisters, Kanae at one end and Shinobu at the other, suits a desk mat where the keyboard can sit between them. It is a bittersweet choice and a meaningful gift for someone who knows their story.

Shinobu at Mount Natagumo

Shinobu's first appearance comes on Mount Natagumo, where she appears under the moon and finishes a spider demon with her poison, speaking sweetly to it the whole time. The scene is all moonlight, dark forest and her pale haori, and it introduces her better than any explanation.

A moonlit design from that scene is a strong match for a black desk with cool white or lilac lighting. It is darker than the garden scenes and lighter than the battle art, which makes it an easy middle ground for a gaming setup that also sees a lot of work.

Into the Infinity Castle

The first Infinity Castle film, released in 2025, gives Shinobu her long-awaited confrontation with Doma, the demon who killed her sister. Without spoiling how it goes, it is one of the most intense stretches of the series. Designs inspired by it use the castle's warm wood and darkness with Doma's icy colors against Shinobu's purples, and they suit the largest sizes, where the scene has room to breathe.

Long sessions on a Shinobu pad

Every Shinobu pad has the same build: a smooth fabric top that tracks evenly, a non-slip base that keeps the mat in place when you flick, and stitched edges that hold up under your wrist through long sessions. The pale butterfly and wisteria designs keep a study desk light and calm; the moonlit and Infinity Castle designs suit a gaming setup in a dark room.

Sizes for a Shinobu desk

Which sizes a design comes in is listed on its own product page. The table matches Shinobu art to each size.

Gifts for a Shinobu fan

A Shinobu pad suits someone who cosplays the Insect Hashira, someone who loves butterflies and Japanese gardens as much as the series, or someone who waited years to see her face Doma on screen. A butterfly or wisteria design is the safest choice if you aren't sure. Not sure what their setup looks like? Pick XL; it leaves room for both hands on almost any desk.

After 1–3 business days in production, the pad is shipped from Turkey; US delivery typically follows within 2–5 business days.

Keeping a pale pad fresh

Shinobu designs are often pale, and pale colors show the place where your wrist rests sooner than dark ones. A damp cloth run over that area each week keeps it from dulling. Now and then the whole pad deserves a wash: by hand, in lukewarm water with a little mild soap, followed by a good rinse, a clean towel pressed over it to take up the water and a flat surface to dry on. The washing machine, the dryer and the iron will all damage it, so leave them out; the fade-resistant print keeps the purples gentle and clear.

FAQ

Questions about Shinobu Mouse Pads

Is this Shinobu from Demon Slayer or from Monogatari?

Demon Slayer. This page is about Shinobu Kocho, the Insect Hashira, with her butterfly haori and wisteria poison. Shinobu Oshino from the Monogatari series isn't covered here.

Which Shinobu design suits a white desk?

The butterfly-wing haori pattern or a pale garden scene from the Butterfly Mansion. Both are light and airy, and they sit well next to a white keyboard and lilac lighting.

Can I get a set of pads with Shinobu's insect dances?

The four Insect Breathing forms, butterfly, bee, dragonfly and centipede, each suit a single small motif on an 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad, which makes them easy to collect as a set.

What size suits a wisteria design?

A deep one. On the XXL, 23.6″ × 35.4″ (60 × 90 cm), or 4XL, 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm), the blossoms hang from the top edge above the keyboard and leave the lower half calm for your hands.

Which Shinobu design suits a dark gaming setup?

Her first appearance at Mount Natagumo in moonlight, or an Infinity Castle design with her purples against the dark. Pair it with cool white or lilac lighting and a black keyboard.

Where are Tanjiro, Nezuko and the other Hashira?

Tanjiro and Nezuko each have a page of their own, also under Demon Slayer. Giyu, Rengoku, Mitsuri and the rest of the Hashira, plus Zenitsu, Inosuke and the demons, are on the Demon Slayer page.

Are these official Shinobu products?

They're unofficial: our own designs, made to order, drawing on Shinobu's butterflies and colors. Koyoharu Gotouge, Shueisha, Aniplex and ufotable aren't connected to Padrift.
