About Scarface Rugs
The world is yours
More than forty years after its release, Scarface is still one of the most quoted, referenced and argued-about films in America, and its style, the excess of 1980s Miami, the gold, the marble and that globe, is instantly recognizable. A Scarface-inspired rug brings that look into a man cave, a home bar or an office: a gold globe ringed with The World Is Yours on a black round rug, a neon Miami sunset with palm trees, or a bold gold and black pattern that feels like a mansion foyer. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine.

The film
Scarface was released in December 1983, directed by Brian De Palma from a screenplay by Oliver Stone. Al Pacino plays Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee who arrives in Miami during the 1980 Mariel boatlift and claws his way to the top of the city's criminal underworld, with Michelle Pfeiffer as Elvira and Steven Bauer as his friend Manny. Its violence and excess divided critics at the time, but it grew into a cult classic, especially in hip-hop culture, where Tony's rise from nothing became a reference point for countless artists. Giorgio Moroder's synthesizer score is as much a part of the film's 1980s mood as the pastel suits.
A remake of a 1932 classic
The 1983 film is a remake of the 1932 gangster picture Scarface, directed by Howard Hawks and produced by Howard Hughes, which moved the story from Prohibition-era Chicago to cocaine-era Miami. In the original, The World Is Yours appears on a flickering travel agency sign; the remake moved the phrase to a blimp drifting over Miami and to a gold globe statue in Tony's mansion. The phrase has outlived both films, turning up in songs, tattoos and street art.
The globe
The globe statue with The World Is Yours on a ring around it is the film's most famous image, and it makes a striking round rug: a gold globe on deep black, the words curving around it. On a 3.9 to 5.2 ft (120 to 160 cm) round rug, it's a bold centerpiece for a man cave, an office or an entryway. Our round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across. Choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², if it will sit under a desk chair or in a busy entry.
1980s Miami
Scarface captured Miami at a turning point: art deco hotels, neon signs, palm trees and pastel suits, with sunsets in pink, purple and teal over Biscayne Bay. A Miami sunset rug, palm silhouettes against a neon sky, brings that retro 1980s mood to a game room, a home bar or a bedroom, and it pairs perfectly with a vintage arcade cabinet or a neon sign. For more from the decade, see our retro rugs.
Gold and black
The mansion in the film is all gold, black, marble and mirrors, excess as a statement. A gold and black art deco rug, with bold fans, sunbursts or geometric lines, captures that opulence in a way that works in a real room: an office, a home bar or a dressing room. Our marble rugs add another layer of luxury.
The mansion
Although the film is set in Miami, the exterior of Tony's mansion was filmed at El Fureidis, a grand early-1900s estate in Montecito, California. Inside, the sets were built to show excess at every turn: a sweeping double staircase, a gold monogrammed chair, mirrors, marble and the globe in the foyer. A rug inspired by that foyer, gold and black geometry around a central medallion, gives an entryway real presence.
The tiger
In the film, Tony keeps a pet tiger on the grounds of his mansion, a symbol of his power and excess. A prowling tiger in gold and black is a bold rug for a man cave or a living room. For more big cats, see our tiger rugs.
Man caves
A Scarface-inspired rug is a classic man cave choice. The globe rug in front of a leather sofa, a gold and black rug under a pool table or bar stools, and a framed poster or two set the tone. Choose a 4×6 or 5×7 ft rug for a seating area. Our man cave rugs page has more layouts.
Home offices
For many fans, the film is less about crime than about ambition, and The World Is Yours globe has become a motivational image for entrepreneurs and hustlers. Under a desk with a leather chair, a globe rug or a gold and black pattern makes a confident home office. Choose Standard, which stays put and lets chair wheels roll freely. Our office and studio rugs page has more ideas.
Home bars
In a home bar, a gold and black rug or a neon Miami sunset in front of the counter makes the space feel like a 1980s lounge. Since every rug goes in the washing machine, spilled drinks aren't a disaster. Choose Standard for its grip on tile and wood.
Movie rooms
For a home theater or a movie room, a black and white poster-style rug with bold red type is a stylish nod to the film. It pairs well with dark walls, blackout curtains and a popcorn machine. Our home theater rugs page has more ideas.
Barbershops and studios
Barbershops, tattoo studios and recording studios often lean on Scarface's imagery. A globe rug at the entrance or a gold and black rug under a chair adds attitude and polish. Standard holds up best to busy foot traffic, and blot spills right away.
Video game fans
The film's 1980s Miami and its rise-to-the-top story echo through crime games set in sun-soaked cities. For a gaming setup with the same neon palette, see our GTA rugs.
Money and ambition
For designs that lean into the same theme of ambition and success, see our money rugs, which are printed oversized, one-sided and stylized, as US reproduction rules require.
Entryways and hallways
Just inside the front door, a globe rug or a gold and black pattern makes a bold first impression; keep it indoors, out of the weather. Down a hallway, a custom runner up to 10 ft long in gold art deco lines feels like a hotel corridor in South Beach. Choose Standard for both, for its grip on hard floors.
Bedrooms
In a bedroom, a neon Miami sunset or a black rug with a subtle gold pattern brings a confident, cinematic mood without overwhelming the room. Choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m², for the softest feel underfoot.
Colors
Scarface-inspired designs look best in gold and black for luxury, neon pink, purple and teal for 1980s Miami, and black, white and red for a poster look. Gold on black is the most versatile and dramatic.
Gifts
A Scarface-inspired rug is a bold gift for film fans, especially for a new apartment, a first office or a man cave. The globe round rug is the most recognizable choice.
Your own design
Want your own motto on a gold globe, your initials in gold on black or a Miami sunset sized for a long hallway? Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′, or as a round rug. Please only send artwork you're allowed to use, and remember that photos of actors and film stills belong to others. Custom rugs are made just for you and can't be returned.
Sizes, shipping and returns
Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft, and round rugs from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across. Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the gold stays bright on the black, wash after wash. For more films, see our movie and pop culture rugs.
Neon nights and the synth score
Scarface's 1983 soundtrack was composed by Giorgio Moroder, the Italian producer behind many disco and synth-pop hits, and its pulsing electronic score helped define the sound of 1980s cinema. Songs like Push It to the Limit, which plays over Tony's rise, became anthems of the film's excess and still appear in workout playlists and game soundtracks today.
The film's nightclub scenes, glowing with neon and mirrored walls, capture Miami's early-80s nightlife at its most glamorous and dangerous. Pink and turquoise lights, palm trees silhouetted against a purple sky, chrome and smoked glass: it's a look that has inspired everything from video games to fashion shoots.
That atmosphere makes striking rugs. A neon sign in pink and blue script glowing against black, spelling a word of your choice, suits a home bar or a game room. A Miami skyline at dusk, with palm trees and a magenta sky, brings 1980s glamour to a living room, and a pattern of mirrored tiles and chrome geometric shapes recalls the club's interiors for a dressing room or a studio.
Because the film itself is violent and aimed at adults, these designs suit grown-up spaces: a bar, a den, a studio or a movie room where the soundtrack plays on vinyl.
Pair these designs with a vintage stereo and a few framed 1980s movie posters, and the room becomes a stylish tribute to the era.
A pink or blue neon strip along the wall makes the rug's colors glow like a club floor at night.
