About Game of Thrones Rugs
When you play the game of rugs
Noble houses scheming for a throne, dragons returning to the world, an army of the dead beyond a wall of ice: Game of Thrones became a global obsession, and its fans still argue about every twist. A Game of Thrones-inspired rug brings that epic, medieval world into a room: an aged parchment map of a fantasy continent, a dragon spreading its wings, wolves running through falling snow, a split design of blue ice and red fire or a heraldic banner for your own family house. Every design is printed into soft velvet and goes in the washing machine.

The books and the show
Game of Thrones was adapted by David Benioff and D. B. Weiss for HBO from George R. R. Martin's fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, which began with the novel A Game of Thrones in 1996. The show ran for eight seasons from 2011 to 2019, filmed across Northern Ireland, Croatia, Iceland, Spain and Malta, and became one of the most watched and most awarded dramas in television history, winning more Primetime Emmy Awards than any other drama series. The prequel House of the Dragon followed in 2022, returning to the age when dragons ruled the skies.
Fantasy maps
Few things suit an epic saga like a map. A parchment map rug of an imagined continent, with mountain ranges, rivers, castles, forests and seas marked in old-fashioned lettering, is a striking design for a study, a library or a game room, and it turns the floor into a campaign table. On a 4×6 or 5×7 ft rug, every region has room. Ours are original maps in the medieval style. For real-world maps, see our world map rugs.
Dragons
The return of dragons is at the heart of the story. A rug with a dragon in flight, wings spread across the floor, or an all-over pattern of iridescent dragon scales in black and red or green and gold, is a dramatic design for a home theater, a teen's room or a gaming setup. A round rug with a dragon curled around the edge is especially striking. Our round rugs come from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across.
Wolves in the snow
Grey wolves running through a snowy northern forest are a calm, powerful image for a bedroom or a cabin, beautiful whether or not your guests know the story. In soft greys, whites and pine greens, it suits a winter-themed room all year.
The wall of ice
In the story, a colossal wall of ice guards the northern edge of the kingdoms. A wall-of-ice rug, towering pale blue ice under a white sky, is a dramatic design for a long hallway runner, as if you were walking along the top. A custom runner up to 10 ft long fits most hallways. Choose Standard, 5 mm crushed velvet on a non-slip faux leather back, about 500 g/m², which stays put as people walk by.
Ice and fire
The books' title says it all: ice and fire. A split design, deep frosty blue on one side meeting blazing red and orange on the other, is a bold, graphic rug for a gaming setup or a teen's room, and on a round rug, the two halves swirl together. Under a gaming chair, choose Standard in 3.3×5 or 4×6 ft.
Your own house
Every great house in the story has a sigil and a set of words. A custom heraldic banner rug for your own family, with your name, a symbol you choose and a motto of your own, is one of the most fun and personal designs we make. It's perfect just inside the front door; keep it indoors, out of the weather. Ours are original heraldry; we don't print the show's official sigils.
Castle stone
For a subtler medieval look, a rug designed like worn castle flagstones, grey and moss-flecked, with a woven tapestry border, brings the feel of a great hall to a living room or a study without a single dragon.
Real places from the show
Many of the show's most famous settings are real places you can visit. The old walled city of Dubrovnik in Croatia stood in for the capital, and in Northern Ireland, the Dark Hedges, an avenue of twisted beech trees planted in the 1700s, became one of the most photographed roads in Europe. A rug with an avenue of gnarled, arching trees fading into mist is a haunting, beautiful design for a hallway runner.
Real dire wolves
The great wolves of the story are based on a real animal. Dire wolves were large wolves that roamed the Americas during the last Ice Age and died out more than ten thousand years ago; thousands of their bones have been recovered from the La Brea Tar Pits in Los Angeles. A fun fact for a young fan, and a reason to visit a natural history museum.
Pairing with furniture
These rugs suit rooms with weight and history: dark wood, wrought iron, leather, heavy wool throws, candlesticks and a few framed maps. For a softer, wintry look, pair a wolves rug with grey linen, sheepskin-look cushions and pale wood.
Game rooms and tabletop nights
Fantasy fans often love tabletop games too. A map rug under a gaming table sets the scene for a campaign night or a strategy board game. For more, see our Dungeons and Dragons rugs.
Home theaters
For watch parties and rewatches, a dragon or wolves rug in front of the sofa makes the room feel like a great hall. Choose Premium, 7 mm plush velvet on a bamboo and cotton back, about 700 g/m², for a soft floor to sprawl on. Our home theater rugs page has more ideas.
Studies and man caves
A parchment map or castle-stone rug pairs beautifully with dark wood, leather chairs, iron candlesticks and a shelf of fantasy novels. Our man cave rugs page has more ideas.
Teen bedrooms
For an older teen fan, a dragon or ice-and-fire rug is a striking centerpiece. The show is intended for adults, so the dragons, wolves and maps are the best fit for younger fans of the books' world. Our bedroom rugs page has more layouts.
Shaped rugs
A rug cut to the outline of a heraldic shield, with your own family symbol inside, or to the curve of a dragon's wing, is a dramatic alternative to a rectangle. Our shaped rugs come in sizes from 2.6×2.6 up to 5.2×5.9 ft (80×80 to 160×180 cm).
Colors
Game of Thrones-inspired designs look best in parchment, sepia and ink for maps; black, red and gold for dragons; grey, white and pine for wolves and winter; and frost blue against flame red for ice and fire.

Gifts
A Game of Thrones-inspired rug makes a great gift for a fan of the books or the show, a fantasy gamer or a history lover. A custom house banner with their family name is the most personal and the most fun.
Your own design
Want a map of your own invented kingdom, a banner with your family name and motto or a dragon sized to your theater room? Our custom rugs can print it in any size up to 5′11″ × 10′, or cut it to shape. Please only send artwork you're allowed to use; official sigils, logos and stills belong to their owners. Custom rugs are made just for you and can't be returned.
Sizes, shipping and returns
Rectangles come in 2×3, 2.6×3.9, 3.3×5, 4×6 and 5×7 ft, and round rugs from 2.6 to 5.9 ft (80 to 180 cm) across. Custom sizes go up to 5′11″ × 10′, including long runners. Every rug is printed to order in 1–3 business days and ships from Turkey; US delivery usually takes 2–5 business days after that. Unused rugs can be returned within 30 days on US orders; custom rugs can't be returned.
Care
Machine wash on a gentle, cold cycle and let it air dry flat. Vacuum on a low setting between washes, and blot spills with cold water right away. The design is printed into the fibers, so the dragons stay fierce, wash after wash, all winter long.
House of the Dragon and the age of dragons
In 2022, HBO returned to Westeros with House of the Dragon, set nearly two centuries before the original series, when the Targaryens ruled with dozens of dragons and a civil war called the Dance of the Dragons tore the family apart. The skies are full of named beasts: Caraxes, long and red, the Blood Wyrm; Syrax, golden-yellow; Sunfyre, golden and beautiful; and Vhagar, the oldest and largest dragon alive, a veteran of Aegon's Conquest.
That era inspires rugs full of scale and fire. A pattern of overlapping dragon scales in deep red, gold or bronze looks like armor laid across the floor, striking in a game room or a home theater. A dragon in flight over the island fortress of Dragonstone, with its black volcanic towers, suits a fan's study, and a pair of dragons circling each other above the clouds captures the Dance itself.
Fans who love the books' history, from Fire & Blood to the original saga, can build a room that spans the whole timeline: scales and fire for the Targaryen era, wolves and snow for the Starks, and a map tying the realm together. Keep the palette deep and warm, crimson, black and gold, and the room feels like a great hall lit by braziers.
Because the show and the books are aimed at adults, these designs work best in grown-up spaces, a den, a library corner or a living room where the next episode is always about to start.
For tabletop players who run campaigns in a fantasy world, a dragon-scale or map rug under the gaming table sets the mood before the first roll. The deep reds and golds catch candlelight beautifully, and a thick velvet surface makes long sessions on the floor more comfortable, especially with Premium in a living room.
