About Shanks Mouse Pads
Shanks mouse pads for the desk
Our Shanks mouse pads and desk mats carry art inspired by Red-Haired Shanks, captain of the Red Hair Pirates and one of the Four Emperors of One Piece, printed edge to edge on a 3 mm neoprene pad with a fabric top, a non-slip base and stitched edges. The size range climbs in eight steps from 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) to 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm), and we print each pad only after it has been ordered.
Shanks has a character page inside the One Piece section. The Straw Hat crew, the ships, the wanted posters and the map of the Grand Line are on the One Piece page, and Luffy, Zoro, Nami and Trafalgar Law each have a page of their own.
A figure that reads from across the room
Shanks has one of the cleanest silhouettes in the series. Red hair, a long black cloak thrown over his shoulders, an open white shirt, a saber at his hip and an empty left sleeve: even reduced to a shadow, he is unmistakable. That matters on a desk mat, where part of the image will always be under your hands.
Because the cloak does most of the work, a Shanks design can be very simple and still look complete. A figure standing at the left end of a long mat, cloak lifting in the wind, leaves the rest of the surface as open sky or sea, and the keyboard covers nothing that matters. On the small 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad, a head-and-shoulders view, set high, keeps his face above the reach of your palm.
Three scars over the left eye
Across Shanks's left eye run three parallel scars, left by Marshall D. Teach, the man who later becomes Blackbeard. They are his most personal mark, and a close crop of that side of his face, red hair falling over the scars, is one of the strongest single images you can put on a desk.
A crop like that suits the long, narrow sizes, where it can run across the strip like a film still, or the small pad as a tight portrait. It works in calm daylight colors or in near-black with only the red hair lit, depending on whether you want the easygoing captain or the dangerous one.
The arm he gave up
Shanks's story with Luffy begins in Foosha Village, where his crew spends a year drinking in Makino's bar while a small boy begs to join them. When Luffy ends up in the water and a Sea King, the monster that rules the coast, comes for him, Shanks dives in and loses his left arm saving his life, without a word of complaint.
Designs from those years have a gentle, nostalgic feel: a harbor village, a wooden bar, the Red Force at anchor and a young boy watching the crew. They suit a warm, quiet desk and anyone who first met One Piece in its opening chapter, and they are lighter in color than most Shanks art.
Gryphon
Shanks fights with a single saber called Gryphon. For years before Luffy's story begins, he and Dracule Mihawk were rivals whose duels were spoken about across the Grand Line, and Mihawk is said to have lost interest in fighting him after Shanks lost his arm.
A saber on its own is one of the simplest Shanks designs: one curved blade on a dark ground, perhaps with a trailing edge of black cloak. It works on the small pad or along the top edge of a long mat, and it suits a desk where you'd rather wear a symbol than a portrait.
The Red Hair Pirates' flag
The crew's Jolly Roger is a skull with three scars slashed over its left eye, matching their captain's face, and two crossed swords behind it in place of bones. It is a compact, bold emblem, and a flag like that is made for the 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) size, where a single centered shape has room to breathe.
Placed near the top of the pad, the skull stays visible above your hand. On a desk mat, the flag flying from the mast of the Red Force at one end, with open sea filling the rest, gives you the emblem and a seascape in one design.
The Red Force and its crew
Shanks's crew is as recognizable as he is. Benn Beckman, the first mate, smokes and carries a long gun; Lucky Roux is almost never seen without a leg of meat; Yasopp, the sharpshooter, is Usopp's father. Their ship is the Red Force, and a three-quarter view of its hull makes a long, low backdrop for all of them.
A crew lineup needs width, so it belongs on the larger mats. Look for a layout where Shanks stands at one end rather than in the middle, so he isn't the figure your keyboard covers, with the crew arranged across the rest of the deck. On the 4XL, there is room for the whole crew and the ship behind them.
A cabin boy on Roger's ship
Long before he became an Emperor, Shanks was an apprentice aboard the Oro Jackson, the ship of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger, alongside a red-nosed Buggy, who would become a pirate captain himself. The two boys bicker constantly, and young Shanks wears a straw hat that would one day travel a long way.
Designs from the Roger era show a very different Shanks: younger, both arms, no scars and a lot more mischief. They are bright and playful, they pair well with Luffy's own designs on a second pad, and they suit a fan who has followed the series long enough to care about its history.
Ending a war at Marineford
At the end of the Marineford war, with Whitebeard dead and the Marines pressing on, Shanks arrives and tells both sides that he has come to end it. He blocks a blow aimed at the young Marine Koby, the fighting stops, and he takes responsibility for burying Whitebeard and Ace.
That arrival is the calmest, most commanding image of Shanks in the series: one man in a black cloak walking into a battlefield full of smoke and ruin, and everyone stopping. A design inspired by it suits a dark desk and a muted palette of grays and blacks, with the red hair as the only warm color on the mat.
Two Emperors and a split sky
When Shanks visits Whitebeard's ship, sake in hand, at one point the two of them cross blades, and the force of their Conqueror's Haki splits the clouds above the ship. It is one of the series' clearest images of how strong the Emperors are.
A split sky is a striking composition for a desk mat, because the break in the clouds runs naturally from side to side. With the parted clouds above the keyboard and the ship below the mouse, a design like this uses the full depth of an XXL, 23.6″ × 35.4″ (60 × 90 cm), and stays readable with the whole setup on top of it.
Film Red and Uta
One Piece Film: Red, released in 2022, centers on Uta, a singer Shanks raised as his daughter, whose hair is split into red and white halves. The film is built around her concert, and its look is all stage light, crowds and color, unlike anything else in the series.
Film Red designs suit a desk that doubles as a music or streaming setup, with a microphone arm, headphones and colored stage lighting. Uta's red and white also match a white desk with red accents far better than Shanks's darker palette does, so this is the lightest way to bring him onto a bright setup.
Laughing, with a drink in hand
For an Emperor, Shanks is remarkably relaxed. He laughs easily, drinks with anyone, throws parties at the slightest excuse and settles most problems without drawing his sword. Designs that show that side of him, a grin, a raised cup, a crew celebration on deck, feel friendly rather than intimidating.
That makes them a good fit for a shared desk or a living-room setup, where a scarred pirate staring out of the mat might feel like too much. They also suit a gift for someone who quotes his easygoing lines rather than his battles.
Red and black on a desk
Shanks's palette is red hair, a black cloak and pale skin, with gold and white as small accents. Red and black is a strong pairing, and it behaves differently from the bright red-and-yellow of Luffy's designs: deeper, heavier and better suited to a dark wooden or black desk than a white one.
To build around it, keep the lighting low and warm, with perhaps a single red accent, and avoid strong blue LEDs, which make the black cloak look gray. A black keyboard with red legends, or a dark walnut desk, finishes the look without matching the art too literally.
For gaming and long nights
A Shanks pad performs like every pad we make. Mouse movement on the fabric top is even and predictable, the non-slip base doesn't budge when you lift the mouse and set it down again, and the stitched edges stand up to forearms resting on them through a long evening of play. Taking it to a friend's place is easy, too: roll it, pack it and give it a few hours on their desk to lie flat.
Sizes for a Shanks desk
Check a design's product page to see which sizes it is offered in. These are the ones that suit Shanks art.
| Setup | Size | Good for |

| Small side desk | TCG Mat, 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm) | Young Shanks and Buggy on Roger's ship |
| Narrow strip | M, 11.8″ × 27.6″ (30 × 70 cm) | A crop across the three scars |
| Keyboard and mouse | XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm) | Shanks at one end with his cloak in the wind |
| Deep gaming desk | XXL, 23.6″ × 35.4″ (60 × 90 cm) | The split sky above Whitebeard's ship |

Desks that are wide but not very deep have two more options: the L, 11.8″ × 31.5″ (30 × 80 cm), and the 3XL, 19.7″ × 39.4″ (50 × 100 cm).
Gifts for a Shanks fan
A Shanks pad suits someone who rewatched the Marineford finale more than once, a fan who came to One Piece through Film Red or anyone who keeps insisting that Shanks is the most interesting character in the story. Decide whether they'd want the calm captain, the young apprentice or the Emperor at war, and if their desk size is unknown, choose the XL, wide enough for a full keyboard with the mouse beside it.
Plan on 3 to 8 business days in all, split between 1–3 business days of making and, typically, 2–5 business days on the road from Turkey to the US.
Looking after a dark pad
Black cloaks and night skies hide skin oil well but show crumbs, dust and pet hair, so most Shanks pads want a weekly pass with a slightly damp cloth. When it needs a proper wash, use your hands and a basin of lukewarm water with a little mild soap, then rinse until no suds remain, press it between towels to get the water out and dry it flat on a table or the floor. A washing machine, a dryer and an iron all do more harm than good, so leave them out of it.
A note on names
Shanks, the Red Hair Pirates, One Piece and the names of other characters, ships and places describe what our designs take their inspiration from. Padrift works independently: Netflix, Bandai, Toei Animation, Shueisha and Eiichiro Oda have no tie to us and have not sponsored or endorsed these pads.
FAQ
Questions about Shanks Mouse Pads
Which Shanks design suits a black desk?
Shanks in his black cloak at Marineford, or the split sky above Whitebeard's ship. Red hair is the only strong color in either, so it stands out sharply beside a black keyboard under warm, low light.
Is there a small Shanks design without his portrait?
The crew's flag, a skull with three scars and crossed swords, or Gryphon alone on a dark ground. Both fit the 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad and stay visible if you set them near the top edge.
What size suits Shanks with his crew?
A lineup of Beckman, Lucky Roux, Yasopp and their captain needs width: XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), fits a few figures, while 4XL, 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm), fits the crew and the Red Force behind them.
Does a Shanks pad suit a streaming or music desk?
A Film Red design does. Uta's red and white hair and the concert lighting suit a desk with a microphone, headphones and colored LEDs. Classic Shanks designs are darker and suit a quieter setup.
How is this page different from the One Piece page?
This page is for designs with Shanks at their center. The One Piece page covers the Straw Hats as a crew, wanted posters, ships and maps, and Luffy, Zoro, Nami and Law each have a page of their own.
Are these official Shanks products?
These are Padrift originals rather than official merchandise. We design them with Shanks and One Piece in mind and print each to order, with no license or endorsement from Eiichiro Oda, Shueisha, Toei Animation or Bandai.
