About Roy Mustang Mouse Pads
Roy Mustang mouse pads for the desk
Our Roy Mustang mouse pads and desk mats carry art inspired by the Flame Alchemist, the ambitious colonel who sets the air alight with a snap of his fingers, printed edge to edge on 3 mm neoprene with a fabric top, a non-slip base and stitched edges. From 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) up to 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm), each size is printed to order, which means the pad is made for you rather than pulled from a pile.
This page sits under Fullmetal Alchemist and is devoted to Roy. The Elric brothers' world, alchemy, the homunculi, Briggs, Xing and the map of Amestris, is on the Fullmetal Alchemist page, and Edward Elric has a page of his own.
The snap
Roy's alchemy starts with his gloves. They are made of ignition cloth, which throws a spark when he rubs his fingers together, and each one carries a transmutation circle on the back. With a snap he makes the spark, and the alchemy does the rest, adjusting the oxygen in the air to steer the flame wherever he wants it. The raised hand, two fingers about to snap, is the most recognizable Roy image there is, and it is ideal for a small pad: a white glove with the circle on its back, set on a dark ground, reads instantly and needs nothing else around it.
Navy blue and white gloves
Out of combat, Roy is a career officer, and his palette is the State Military's: a navy-blue uniform with gold trim, black hair, dark eyes and those white gloves. Navy and white is a calm, formal combination. It sits well on a dark wood desk, beside a navy or gray keyboard, and under ordinary office light, which makes Roy one of the few anime characters whose designs look at home on a work desk. Add a single orange accent, a lamp or a cable, and the desk hints at the fire without showing it.
Fire on a dark desk
When he fights, the palette flips. Orange, yellow and red flames tear across the frame, often against night skies or dark corridors, and the effect is pure heat. Fire designs suit a black desk with orange or red RGB, where the lighting seems to come out of the mat. Flames are also wide subjects, so they work on the long sizes: on the L, 11.8″ × 31.5″ (30 × 80 cm), a burst of fire can run from his outstretched hand at one end all the way to the other, wrapping around the keyboard rather than hiding under it.
Useless on rainy days
Roy's greatest weakness is water. Wet gloves can't spark, and Riza Hawkeye famously tells him he is useless on rainy days. It is a running joke the series keeps coming back to, and it makes a gentle, funny design: Roy under a downpour, gloves dripping, looking deeply annoyed. Rain designs are cool and gray-blue rather than orange, so they suit a desk with cool lighting, and they are a nice in-joke for anyone who knows how dangerous he is when the weather is dry.
A colonel with a plan
Roy wants to become Führer, the head of Amestris, and change the country from the top. Part of that ambition is serious, a way to make up for what he did in the war, and part of it is played for laughs, like his declared plan to put every female officer in a miniskirt. Designs that lean into the leader, Roy in full dress uniform, at a desk or standing in front of the military flag, have a confident, composed feel. They suit a home office, a manager's desk or anyone who likes their anime with a little ambition.
Riza Hawkeye at his back
Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye is Roy's aide, his sharpshooter and the person he trusts most. Her father was Roy's alchemy teacher, and the secret of flame alchemy is tattooed on her back. In battle, she stands behind him with a rifle, ready to stop him if he ever goes too far. A design that pairs them works well on a long mat: Roy with his hand raised at one end, Riza aiming from the other, the keyboard between. Two smaller pads, one for each, suit a shared desk or a couple who both love the series.
Maes Hughes, the best friend
Roy's closest friend is Maes Hughes, a cheerful officer in glasses who never stops talking about his wife, Gracia, and his daughter, Elicia, and who pushes Roy to aim higher. Their friendship is one of the warmest threads in the series, and it carries one of its most painful moments. A design that remembers Hughes, a photo of the two of them, Hughes holding up a family picture or a phone booth at night, is quiet and personal, a choice for someone who knows exactly why it matters.
Team Mustang
Roy runs his unit at East City Headquarters with a small, loyal team: Jean Havoc, never without a cigarette, Heymans Breda, Vato Falman, Kain Fuery, Riza Hawkeye and her small black-and-white dog, Black Hayate. The office scenes are some of the series' most relaxed, full of paperwork, banter and a colonel who would rather do anything else. A team design, the whole unit in uniform, suits an XL or larger mat, and Black Hayate on his own makes a sweet, simple design for the small pad.
The Hero of Ishval
Before the story begins, Roy fought in the Ishvalan war, and the title people give him for it, Hero of Ishval, is one he carries with guilt rather than pride. That history gives him more depth than most anime rivals, and it gives some of his designs a darker, more somber tone: muted colors, smoke and a soldier who doesn't look away. Those designs suit an adult fan who rates the series for its weight as much as its action, and they look restrained, not flashy, on a dark desk.
Roy at full fury
Roy is controlled, ironic and patient almost all the time, which is exactly why his rare moments of fury hit so hard. When he finally faces the homunculi who hurt the people closest to him, the series shows a different man, cold and relentless, surrounded by fire. Designs built on those moments are his most intense: deep shadow, burning orange and a stare that doesn't blink. They suit a competitive gaming desk and someone who wants Roy at his most dangerous.
Roy and the Fullmetal kid
Roy is the officer who first hears about the Elric brothers, travels to Resembool after their failed transmutation and points Ed toward the State Alchemist exam. From then on he is Ed's superior, and their scenes are a steady stream of needling: Roy teasing Ed about his height, Ed refusing to show him any respect, and both of them quietly looking out for each other. On a desk, that rivalry makes a good split. A navy-and-orange Roy pad under the mouse and a red Ed design on a second desk, or the two of them facing off at opposite ends of a long mat, carries the joke without either of them taking over.
Embers without a face
Not every Roy design needs Roy. Sparks drifting upward from a single snap, a trail of embers across black or a wisp of smoke curling away from a white glove all point to him without a portrait. Abstract fire designs like these are easy to place, since there is no face for a keyboard to cover, and they read as warm, moody art to people who have never seen the series. They suit a work desk where a full anime scene would feel like too much, and they sit well on the large sizes, where the embers can scatter across the whole surface.
Warm lamps and cool screens
Roy's two palettes react very differently to the light in a room. Flame designs come alive under warm white bulbs and amber desk lamps, which deepen the orange and soften the blacks. The navy uniform designs prefer cooler, daylight-style lighting, where the blue stays crisp and the white gloves stay white. If your desk sits under a warm lamp in the evening, lean toward fire; if it sits by a window or under a cool LED panel, the uniform is the safer choice.
A desk worthy of a colonel
Roy may avoid paperwork, but his pad is ready for it. The fabric top gives a steady, even glide for spreadsheets and shooters alike, the non-slip base keeps the mat from shifting when you reach across the desk, and the 3 mm neoprene softens the surface under your wrist through a long shift. A navy-and-white uniform design is discreet enough for a work desk, and the flame designs are there for the evening.
Sizes for a Roy Mustang desk
Each product page names the sizes on offer for that design. These are the ones that suit Roy.

Gifts for a Mustang fan
A Roy Mustang pad suits a friend who thinks he steals every scene in Brotherhood, a manager who could use a little of his confidence, or someone who quotes the rain joke every time the weather turns. Choose fire, uniform or friendship, and if their desk is unknown to you, XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), covers a keyboard and mouse comfortably on most setups.
From order to dispatch is 1–3 business days, and from Turkey to most US addresses is usually 2–5 business days more.
Care, without the rain
Unlike Roy, the pad doesn't mind water. Wipe it with a damp cloth when it looks dusty. For a full clean, wash it by hand in lukewarm water with a mild soap, rinse it thoroughly, then press it inside a folded towel to soak up the water and leave it lying flat until it is completely dry. Keep it out of the washing machine and the dryer, and never iron it; the fade-resistant print keeps the flames bright.

FAQ
Questions about Roy Mustang Mouse Pads
Which Roy Mustang design suits an office desk?
Roy in his navy uniform with white gloves, or a single gloved hand about to snap. Navy and white look calm under office light and sit well next to dark wood and gray peripherals.
What Mustang design goes with orange RGB?
A flame design on black. Orange or red lighting seems to spill out of the fire, and on a long mat the flames can run from his raised hand to the far end around your keyboard.
Is there a Roy and Riza Hawkeye design?
Designs pairing them suit XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), with Roy at one end and Riza aiming from the other. On a shared desk, two small pads, one each, work well too.
Where are Edward and Alphonse?
Edward Elric has his own page under Fullmetal Alchemist, and Alphonse is on the Fullmetal Alchemist page with Winry, the homunculi and the rest of the series.
What's the rain joke about Roy Mustang?
Wet ignition gloves can't spark, so Roy's flame alchemy fails in the rain, and Riza Hawkeye tells him he is useless on rainy days. A rain design in cool blue-gray is a gentle in-joke.
Are Roy Mustang pads sold under license?
No license is involved. Padrift creates them as unofficial, fan-inspired art and prints them on its own pads; Hiromu Arakawa, Square Enix, Bones, Aniplex and Viz Media are not connected.
