About Asta Mouse Pads

Asta mouse pads for the desk

These Asta mouse pads and desk mats feature Padrift artwork built around one character: the loud, stubborn, magicless boy at the center of Black Clover. We print each design edge to edge on a 3 mm neoprene pad with a fabric top, a non-slip base and stitched edges, using a high-resolution print that holds its color. Pick the pad that fits your desk, from 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) for a mouse alone to 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm) for nearly the full surface; your pad is made only after you order it.

This page sits under Black Clover and keeps its focus on Asta himself. The squads, the grimoires of the wider cast, Yuno, Yami, Noelle and the rest of the kingdom are all on the Black Clover page.

No mana, all muscle

Everyone in Asta's world has mana, the energy that powers magic, everyone except him. He can't cast a spell, can't fly a broom and can't even sense magic the way other people do. His answer is to train his body without letup: push-ups, sprints and endless sword swings from childhood on, until he is short, scarred and astonishingly strong.

That makes Asta an unusual hero for a desk. He isn't a genius or a chosen one; he is the kid who keeps showing up and putting in reps. If you are the kind of player who grinds aim trainers, practices combos in training mode or studies late for an exam you were told you'd fail, he is a fitting face to have under your hands.

From the church in Hage

Asta and Yuno were both left as babies at the church in Hage, a poor village in the kingdom's Forsaken Realm, and grew up side by side under the care of the priest and Sister Lily. Asta spent his childhood proposing to Sister Lily, loudly and repeatedly, and being turned down every single time. It is one of the series' longest-running jokes, and it shows the side of him that isn't about fighting.

Designs from those early days are the gentlest Asta art there is: a small boy with a big grin, a country church and wide fields. They suit a younger fan's desk or anyone who prefers his warmth to his battles, and they look good on the lighter 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm) size beside a laptop.

A grimoire nobody wanted

At fifteen, every young person in the kingdom receives a grimoire at the tower. Yuno gets a legendary four-leaf book; Asta walks away with nothing. Soon after, when Yuno is in trouble, a tattered black grimoire finally appears for Asta, dusty, ragged and bearing a five-leaf clover, the mark of a devil living inside it. From its pages he pulls out a sword far too large for him.

That battered book is one of the strongest Asta symbols for a small pad. A black grimoire with a ragged five-leaf clover on the cover, set toward the top of the 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad, says Asta without showing his face at all.

Swords along the mat

Asta fights with swords drawn out of his grimoire, and each has its own shape.

  • The Demon-Slayer Sword: the first, a huge, chipped slab of a blade that looks too heavy for anyone to lift, which is exactly the point.
  • The Demon-Dweller Sword: slimmer and sharper, able to soak up a spell and send it back.
  • The Demon-Destroyer Sword: a blade that can undo the effects a spell has already left behind.

A long blade is made for a long mat. On the M size, 11.8″ × 27.6″ (30 × 70 cm), or the L, a sword can run almost the full width behind the keyboard, with the hilt near your mouse hand and the tip reaching toward the far edge. It is a clean, dramatic layout with nothing for the keyboard to cover.

Anti-magic black

Asta's power has a look as well as a function. Anti-magic appears as a rough black aura, like smoke or torn cloth, that wraps his swords and cuts through spells. His palette follows it: black blades, a black Black Bulls robe, ash-blond hair and green eyes, with almost nothing bright except the magic he is destroying.

That gives Asta designs an easy home on a black desk. A matte black keyboard, a black mouse and an Asta mat with a dark aura blend into one look, and a white or warm-white desk lamp brings out the ash-blond hair. If you want a single accent, green picks up his eyes.

Black Asta

When Asta draws on the devil in his grimoire, he changes: black anti-magic spreads across his arm, a single dark horn rises from his head and the aura around him thickens. This form is known as Black Asta, and it is his most intense look, all shadow and motion.

Black Asta designs belong on a gaming setup. They sit well on XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), or larger, with Asta at the left end for a right-handed player so the dark aura trails across the rest of the mat, and they pair naturally with red or deep purple lighting. On a mat this large, the shadowy background also keeps the art from looking cluttered around a keyboard.

Liebe, enemy and partner

The devil living in Asta's grimoire is Liebe, a small horned creature with his own grudge against devils. At first he wants Asta's body for himself; later the two make a pact as equals, and the partnership becomes one of the story's turning points. Their combined form, Devil Union, gives Asta yet another look.

A design pairing Asta and Liebe suits a fan who has followed the story into its later arcs. It works best as a long composition with the two figures at opposite ends, back to back, while the keyboard covers the empty ground between them.

Nero on his head

For a long stretch of the series, a scruffy black bird known as Nero perches on Asta's head, pecks him and refuses to leave. She turns out to be far more than a bird, but for most viewers she is first of all a grumpy, round little shape on top of Asta's hair. That makes her a perfect small-pad motif: one black bird with a sharp eye, on a plain ground, in the corner of an 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad. To anyone else it is just a cute bird.

Picked by one captain

At the Magic Knight entrance exam, Asta's lack of magic puts the captains off, and one by one they pass on him. The only one who raises a hand is Yami Sukehiro, and Asta joins the Black Bulls, the squad the rest of the kingdom looks down on. That moment gives Asta his robe, his squad and his family.

An Asta design in the Black Bulls robe, the short black cloak with the horned bull emblem, is the version of him that most people picture. It suits a black-and-white setup and works on nearly every size, from a small pad with just the emblem to a full desk mat with Asta mid-swing.

The race to Wizard King

Everything Asta does points at one goal: to become Wizard King, the strongest mage in the kingdom, without any magic. He announces it to anyone who will listen, including people who are trying to kill him. That forward momentum suggests a composition for a long mat: Asta at one end, sword raised, facing a distant crest or a sunrise at the other, with the whole width of the desk as the road between them.

A design like that suits the 3XL, 19.7″ × 39.4″ (50 × 100 cm), on a wide desk, where the distance between the figure and the goal feels real.

A quieter Asta

Not every Asta design has to be shouting. Chibi art, Asta eating with the squad, sleeping in the hideout or training with a giant sword over his shoulders gives a softer take that suits a study desk or a shared room. Those designs often use lighter backgrounds, warm wood tones and a bit of humor, so they work on a pale desk where a black battle scene would feel heavy.

They are also a good choice for a younger fan who loves Asta's energy but not the darker devil arcs.

Gaming and long sessions

An Asta pad is built exactly like every other Padrift pad. The fabric top gives your mouse a smooth, controlled glide, the non-slip base keeps the mat from creeping during fast swipes, and the stitched edges stop the surface from fraying under your wrist. The 3 mm neoprene adds a little cushion under the forearms, welcome during the kind of long sessions Asta would approve of. If you play with a controller, an XL mat leaves room to set it down beside the keyboard between matches.

Sizes for an Asta desk

Each Asta design has its own size list on its product page. Here is how the sizes fit his art.

For a desk with plenty of width and little depth, the L at 11.8″ × 31.5″ (30 × 80 cm) and the 3XL at 19.7″ × 39.4″ (50 × 100 cm) are the ones to measure for.

Gifts for an Asta fan

An Asta pad suits someone who quotes his refusal to give up, a teenager who started Black Clover for the swords and stayed for the squad, or a friend who is grinding toward a goal of their own and could use the reminder. Choose Black Asta for a gamer, the robe and emblem for a classic look, or the early Hage art for a gentler gift. If you don't know the size of their desk, an XL won't let you down: it covers a keyboard and a mouse with room left over.

Production takes 1–3 business days, after which the pad leaves Turkey; expect it at a US door roughly 2–5 business days later. To have it in hand for a birthday, order it ten days to two weeks in advance.

Cleaning a dark Asta pad

Asta's black auras and robes hide stains well, but crumbs and lint show up quickly on them. A quick pass with a damp cloth handles most of it. For a proper wash, use your hands, lukewarm water and a little mild soap, rinse well, blot the water out by pressing a towel against the pad and dry it flat. Don't put it in a washing machine or a dryer, and keep the iron away from it.

A note on names

Asta, Black Clover and the names of other characters are mentioned only to describe what our designs draw on. Padrift has no affiliation with Yūki Tabata, Shueisha or Studio Pierrot, and they have not sponsored or endorsed these pads.

FAQ

Questions about Asta Mouse Pads

Which Asta design suits a gaming desk?

Black Asta, with the dark horn and anti-magic aura. Put him at the left end of an XL mat, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), and pair it with red or purple lighting for a dark, dramatic setup.

Is there a small Asta design that skips his face?

Yes. The tattered black grimoire with its five-leaf clover, a single anti-magic sword or Nero the black bird all work on the 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad and read as Asta to anyone who knows him.

Where are the other Black Clover characters?

On the Black Clover page, which covers the squads, Yuno, Yami, Noelle and the kingdom. This page stays with Asta: his swords, his grimoire, Liebe and Black Asta.

How should a sword design sit on a desk mat?

Lengthwise, behind the keyboard. On a long mat the blade can run almost edge to edge, with the hilt near your mouse hand, so the keyboard sits in front of the sword instead of on top of the figure.

Does an Asta pad suit a younger fan's study desk?

It can. Look for the lighter designs: chibi Asta, the early days in Hage or Asta eating with the squad. They are cheerful, not dark, and the 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm) size fits beside a laptop.

Is this official Asta merchandise?

No, it's independent fan art. Padrift creates and prints the designs on its own pads; Yūki Tabata, Shueisha and Studio Pierrot didn't make them, aren't involved in selling them and haven't given their approval.
