About Star Wars Mouse Pads

Star Wars mouse pads for the desk

Our Star Wars mouse pads and desk mats carry art inspired by the saga, printed edge to edge on a 3 mm neoprene pad with a fabric top, a non-slip base and stitched edges. Sizes run from an 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad for the mouse to a 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm) mat for most of a desk, eight in all, and every one is printed after you order.

Star Wars has been shaping how people picture space since 1977, and almost every part of it, a ship's outline, a helmet, the color of a blade, is recognizable at a glance. That is what a desk mat needs: art that still reads when a keyboard covers the middle and a hand covers one corner.

Light side or dark side

The quickest way to choose a Star Wars pad is by the side of the Force your desk is on, because the saga's palettes split cleanly.

  • Jedi: blue and green blades, sand-colored robes and warm temple light. They suit wooden desks, plants and daylight.
  • Sith: red blades on black, with Darth Vader's armor and the glow of a dark throne room. They are made for black keyboards and red RGB.
  • The Empire: stormtrooper white, Imperial gray and black. A clean match for a monochrome or white setup with a single accent color.
  • The Rebellion: orange flight suits, X-wing white and the red of the starbird. A warmer choice that brightens a gray desk.
  • The Mandalorian: the dull silver of beskar and dusty desert tones, for setups in gunmetal, brown leather and matte black.

Purple has its own small corner too, for anyone who has always sided with Mace Windu.

Planets as landscapes

A desk mat works best as a landscape, and the Star Wars galaxy is a catalog of them. Each world brings a color scheme that is easy to build a desk around.

Hoth is all white and pale blue, which disappears into a white desk and white peripherals in the best way. Mustafar's lava rivers bring orange and black for a dark room. The forest moon of Endor and the swamps of Dagobah are deep greens that sit well with wood and plants. Coruscant at night, a planet-wide city of lights and traffic lanes, suits a black setup with neon accents, and the deserts of Tatooine and Jakku bring sand and rust for warm rooms.

Landscapes also solve the keyboard problem. A horizon line, a skyline or a lava field stays readable around the keyboard in a way a single face doesn't, so they are a good choice for XL and larger.

One ship across a long mat

The first shot of the first film is a Star Destroyer sliding overhead, so long that it seems to keep going, and Star Wars ships have been drawn for wide frames ever since. On a desk mat, that shape works in your favor.

The wedge of a Star Destroyer, at about 1,600 meters long in the films, fills a 4XL, 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm), mat from one side to the other, with the keyboard sitting somewhere over its hull. The Millennium Falcon, a round freighter, suits the deeper XXL size. Smaller craft such as an X-wing, a TIE fighter or an A-wing are clean silhouettes that hold the 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad on their own, and a squadron in formation reads well on the long, narrow M and L sizes.

Helmets and emblems for the small pads

The 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad is mostly covered by your hand and mouse, so it needs one image that reads from a corner. Star Wars has plenty: Darth Vader's helmet, a stormtrooper's mask, Boba Fett's T-shaped visor, the mudhorn signet of the Mandalorian, the Imperial cog, the Rebel starbird and the winged symbol of the Jedi Order. Place one toward the top of the pad and it stays in view while you work, and it suits a side desk or a laptop setup where a full battle scene would feel crowded.

Prequels, clones and the sequel era

Each era of the films has its own palette. The prequels bring the green and gold of Naboo, the towers of Coruscant and clone trooper armor, white with the blue markings of the 501st or the orange of the 212th. The sequel trilogy brings the black and red of the First Order, Kylo Ren's crackling crossguard blade and the salt flats of Crait, white on top and red where they are scraped. If you grew up with one particular trilogy, its colors are an easy way to make a desk feel like yours rather than generic.

The shows and the new era

Since The Mandalorian arrived in 2019, the series have given Star Wars a new look: Grogu, beskar armor and frontier planets in The Mandalorian; the gray, grounded Empire of Andor; and the colors of Ahsoka Tano's white blades in Ahsoka. These designs tend to be quieter than the films' space battles, with muted palettes and single figures, which makes them a good fit for a work desk or a setup that needs to look calm on a video call.

Star Wars on PC

Star Wars games have lived on the PC since the days of X-Wing and TIE Fighter, and they ask different things of a mouse pad.

  • Shooters and action: Battlefront II, Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor and Star Wars Outlaws all involve fast camera turns, where the non-slip base keeps the pad from creeping across the desk.
  • Space combat: Squadrons, from 2020, can be flown with a mouse and keyboard, and wide, quick turns are easier with an XL or XXL mat.
  • Strategy and RPGs: Empire at War, Knights of the Old Republic and The Old Republic MMO mean long sessions with plenty of clicking, where the cushioned neoprene under the wrist matters most.

Whatever you play, the fabric top gives an even, controlled glide, and the stitched edges hold up where your wrist rests during long sessions.

Star Wars: Unlimited on the TCG Mat

Star Wars: Unlimited, the trading card game launched in 2024, is played on a standard 14″ × 24″ playmat, and our TCG Mat size, 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm), matches it. On the table it holds your base, your leader, the ground and space arenas and your resources; at the desk it is a generous mouse pad. The cushioned neoprene makes cards easy to slide and pick up, and with no printed zones, the art stays whole.

Miniatures games are another matter. X-Wing and Shatterpoint are played on a 36″ × 36″ area, deeper than any desk mat, so our pads are for card games, display and the desk itself rather than a miniatures battlefield.

Sizes for Star Wars desks

Every design lists its sizes on its product page. This is how they match up with Star Wars designs and desks.

May the 4th and other gifts

May 4 is Star Wars Day, and a mouse pad is one of the few Star Wars gifts that gets used every single day rather than sitting on a shelf. Choose by the side they are on, the era they grew up with or the ship they would fly, and pick XL if you don't know their desk.

For younger fans, the friendliest corners of the galaxy work best: Grogu, R2-D2, BB-8 or a cheerful squadron of starfighters. On a homework desk, the S or M size covers the area that collects pencil marks and juice rings, wipes clean with a damp cloth and gives a first computer a proper place to sit. As they get older, a bigger mat with the side they have chosen can take its place.

Each pad is made in 1–3 business days, then ships from Turkey and usually reaches the US 2–5 business days later. For May the 4th, ordering by the middle of April leaves comfortable time.

Keeping stormtrooper white clean

White and pale designs, such as stormtroopers, Hoth or an X-wing on a light sky, show dust and skin oil sooner than dark ones, especially where the wrist rests. Every couple of weeks, go over the pad with a damp cloth. For a deeper clean, hand wash it in lukewarm water with a little mild soap, rinse it, press out the water with a towel and let it dry flat. Keep it out of the washing machine, the dryer and away from the iron; the fade-resistant print will keep its contrast.

FAQ

Questions about Star Wars Mouse Pads

Which Star Wars design suits a dark RGB setup?

Sith and Imperial palettes: red, black and gray, from a red blade on black to the lava of Mustafar. Under red or white RGB they glow with the room, and a black keyboard blends into them.

Can I play Star Wars: Unlimited on a desk mat?

Yes, on the 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm) size, the standard playmat size. It has room for your base, leader, both arenas and resources, and the cushioned neoprene makes cards easy to pick up. There are no printed zones.

Will a Star Wars mat work for an X-Wing miniatures game?

Not as the battlefield. X-Wing is played on a 36″ × 36″ (91 × 91 cm) area, deeper than our largest 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm) mat. Our pads suit card games, display and the desk itself.

What size Star Wars desk mat suits Battlefront or Squadrons?

XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), takes a full keyboard and a mouse. If you aim with your whole arm, XXL, 23.6″ × 35.4″ (60 × 90 cm), adds depth so wide turns don't run off the edge.

Is a Star Wars mouse pad a good May the 4th gift?

Yes, if you order in time. Each pad is made in 1–3 business days and usually reaches the US 2–5 business days after it ships, so ordering by mid-April is safe for May 4.

Are these official Star Wars products?

No. Lucasfilm, part of The Walt Disney Company, licenses the official Star Wars range, and Padrift is not one of its licensees. These pads are our own designs that take their inspiration from the saga.
