About Game of Thrones Mouse Pads
Game of Thrones mouse pads for the desk
These Game of Thrones mouse pads and desk mats carry designs inspired by Westeros, its great houses and its dragons, printed edge to edge on a 3 mm neoprene pad with a fabric top, a non-slip base and stitched edges. The smallest size is an 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) pad for one sigil under the mouse; the largest, 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm), has room for most of the known world. Every pad is printed for its own order.
HBO's series ran for eight seasons, from 2011 to 2019, adapting George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels, the first of which, A Game of Thrones, came out in 1996. It is a story told through heraldry, maps and weather, and all three translate well to a desk.
Westeros runs north to south
A map of Westeros has a problem a desk mat has to solve: the continent is tall and narrow, stretching from the Wall in the far north down to Dorne, while a desk mat is wide and shallow. There are two good answers. One is to add Essos, the continent across the Narrow Sea to the east, so the map becomes a wide panorama with Westeros on the left and the Free Cities and Slaver's Bay on the right. The other is to crop to a region, such as the North or the Crownlands, and let it fill the mat.
With north at the top, the keyboard on a deep mat covers only the southern part of the map, and the North, the Wall and the Narrow Sea stay visible behind it. On a small pad, a single region with its castles reads far better than a whole map shrunk to fit.
The clockwork map of the opening titles
The show's opening sequence turned the map into a machine: a world drawn on the inside of a sphere, cities that rise from it on gears and towers that unfold as the camera flies between them, all to Ramin Djawadi's theme. The look is warm metal, parchment and polished wood, and it is one of the few Game of Thrones palettes that suits a walnut desk and a brass lamp better than an RGB setup.
A design in that clockwork style suits a study or a reading desk. Its detail is fine, so give it at least XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm), where the towers and gears stay readable around a keyboard.
The great houses and their colors
Every house in Westeros flies a banner, and each banner is a palette ready to match a setup.
- Stark: a gray direwolf on white. Cool grays for a white or silver desk.
- Lannister: a gold lion on crimson. Rich red and gold for walnut, warm light or red RGB.
- Targaryen: a red three-headed dragon on black. The natural pick for an all-black setup with red accents.
- Baratheon: a black crowned stag on gold. Bold and graphic, good with black peripherals on a light desk.
- Greyjoy: a gold kraken on black, for a dark desk with brass details.
- Tyrell: a gold rose on green, for a desk with plants and natural wood.
- Martell: a red sun pierced by a gold spear on orange, the warmest banner of all.
- Arryn: a white moon and falcon on sky blue, for pale setups and daylight.
House words on a small pad
Each house also has words, and some are as recognizable as the sigils: Winter Is Coming for the Starks, Hear Me Roar! for the Lannisters, Fire and Blood for the Targaryens, Ours Is the Fury for the Baratheons, We Do Not Sow for the Greyjoys. A sigil with its words fits the S pad, 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm), with the emblem toward the top edge, clear of your hand, and the lettering below it.
This is also the easiest way to show allegiance. Pick your house, or the one you would have sworn to, and the pad says it in a single image.
The Wall and the white north
The Wall is seven hundred feet of ice across the northern border of the Seven Kingdoms, guarded by the black-cloaked Night's Watch from Castle Black. On screen it is a long, flat, pale blue cliff, and that shape is made for a desk mat: a single horizontal band of ice running the length of an M or L strip, with a tiny figure on top or a line of black cloaks at its foot.
Beyond it lie the White Walkers, their army of the dead and the Night King, whose glowing blue eyes are the only color in a frozen landscape. The northern scenes, many of them filmed in Iceland, are the coolest palette in the series, ice blue, white and charcoal, and they suit a white desk, cool lighting and a monochrome keyboard.
Three dragons, three colors
Daenerys Targaryen's dragons each have their own color, which makes them easy to match to a setup. Drogon is black and red, the largest and fiercest of the three. Rhaegal is green and bronze, and Viserion is cream and gold. A single dragon suits the small pad; spread wings need a long mat, where the wingspan can run from one end to the other with the keyboard under the body. After the events of the seventh season, Viserion returns as an ice dragon breathing blue fire, which puts a dragon in the cold palette of the north.
The Iron Throne
The throne in King's Landing was forged, the story says, from the swords of Aegon the Conqueror's defeated enemies, melted by dragon fire. On screen it is a jagged silhouette of blades, steel gray against a dim hall, and it is one of the strongest single images in the series. It works as the only subject of a small pad or a laptop-sized 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm) mat, centered, with nothing else around it. On a desk mat, set it at one end and let the hall's dark stone carry on beneath the keyboard.
Direwolves
At the start of the story, the Stark children find six direwolf pups, one for each of them, and the wolves follow their fortunes through the series. Ghost, Jon Snow's pure white wolf with red eyes, is the most striking on a desk mat: white on snow, almost invisible except for the eyes, a design that suits a white or light gray setup. A gray wolf howling under a pale moon is a quieter, wintry alternative for a dark desk.
King's Landing and the warm south
The south of Westeros is a different world: terracotta roofs, white stone, olive trees and blue sea. Much of King's Landing was filmed in Dubrovnik, on the Croatian coast, and the water gardens of Dorne in the Alcázar of Seville in Spain. Those designs bring warm light and sun-faded color to a desk, a contrast to the snow of the north, and they suit wood desks, plants and a room with plenty of daylight.
House of the Dragon
House of the Dragon, which began on HBO in 2022, goes back nearly two centuries to the height of Targaryen power and the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, drawing on Martin's book Fire & Blood. Where the original series had three dragons, the prequel has many: Caraxes in blood red, the ancient and enormous Vhagar, Syrax in yellow and more. Black and red dominate, so Targaryen designs from the prequel suit the same dark setups as the banner, and a pair of dragons in the air splits a long mat neatly, one at each end.
The card game and game nights
Westeros has a card game of its own: A Game of Thrones: The Card Game from Fantasy Flight Games, in which players lead the great houses. The 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm) size is the standard playmat size, with room for a house's cards in play and a cushioned surface that makes them easy to pick up. These pads have no printed card zones; Padrift's card game playmats with zone layouts are a separate product. Between games, the same pad goes back to being a mouse pad.
The board game version, with its own map of Westeros, needs a table rather than a mat, but a house-colored pad at each player's seat is a good game-night touch.
A desk for reading the books
The novels, from A Game of Thrones in 1996 through A Dance with Dragons in 2011, run to thousands of pages, and a map close by helps keep the houses, rivers and castles straight. A map mat on a reading desk does that job without unfolding anything. The parchment palette, cream, brown and faded ink, sits well under a lamp, and the cushioned fabric is comfortable for a resting hand during a long chapter.
Gaming under a banner
A Westeros mat is still a gaming pad. The fabric top gives an even, controlled glide, the base holds firm through fast movements and the neoprene cushions the wrist. Strategy games, with their long sessions of clicking across a map, suit a large mat especially well: XL or XXL gives the mouse room to sweep across a campaign while a map of the Seven Kingdoms frames the keyboard.
Sizes for a Westeros desk
Look at a design's product page to see the sizes it is printed in; the guide below matches them to Westeros art and to the gear on your desk.
| Setup | Size | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Mouse only | S, 11.8″ × 15.7″ (30 × 40 cm) | A sigil with its house words |
| Card game or laptop | TCG Mat, 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm) | The Iron Throne, or one house's cards |
| Compact keyboard | M, 11.8″ × 27.6″ (30 × 70 cm) | The Wall as a band of ice |
| Keyboard and mouse | XL, 15.7″ × 35.4″ (40 × 90 cm) | A dragon's wingspan or the clockwork map |
| Deep desk | XXL, 23.6″ × 35.4″ (60 × 90 cm) | A map with the North above the keys |
| The whole desk | 4XL, 23.6″ × 47.2″ (60 × 120 cm) | Westeros and Essos side by side |
Between those steps, L, 11.8″ × 31.5″ (30 × 80 cm), gives the Wall a few more inches to run, and 3XL, 19.7″ × 39.4″ (50 × 100 cm), suits a map on a desk that is wider and deeper than XL allows.
Gifts for the realm
A Game of Thrones pad suits someone who has rewatched the series from the first episode, a reader who has finished every book, a House of the Dragon viewer or a friend who still argues about the ending. The house is the easy way to personalize it: choose the banner they would fight under. Not sure of the desk? The 35.4″-long XL sits comfortably on an ordinary desk with a full keyboard and a mouse on top.
Printing begins when your order arrives and takes 1–3 business days; the pad then ships out of Turkey and usually crosses to the US in 2–5 business days.
Care for parchment and snow
Parchment maps and snowy northern scenes are light, so the patch under your wrist shows wear before the rest. A damp cloth over that area every week or two keeps it even. For a thorough clean, hand wash the pad in lukewarm water with a gentle soap, rinse away the suds, press it between towels to remove the water and leave it flat to dry. Keep it out of the washing machine and the dryer, and never iron it; the fade-resistant print keeps Lannister gold and Stark gray true.

FAQ
Questions about Game of Thrones Mouse Pads
How does a map of Westeros fit a wide desk mat?
Westeros is tall and narrow, so a wide mat either adds Essos to the east for a full panorama or crops to one region, such as the North. On a deep XXL, the northern half stays visible above the keyboard.
Which house colors suit an all-black setup?
Targaryen red on black or Greyjoy gold on black. Both keep the mat dark around black peripherals, with one accent color you can repeat in a keycap or a strip of RGB.
Can I play A Game of Thrones: The Card Game on one of these pads?
Yes, on the 14″ × 24″ (35.5 × 61 cm) size, the standard playmat size. It has no printed card zones, but the cushioned surface makes cards easy to lift, and it works as a mouse pad afterward.
Which Westeros design reads on the small 11.8″ × 15.7″ pad?
A single sigil with its house words, the Iron Throne or one dragon. Keep the main shape toward the top so your hand doesn't cover it; a full map is too detailed at that size.
Which dragon suits a green or gold desk?
Rhaegal, green and bronze, suits plants and natural wood; Viserion, cream and gold, suits a light desk with warm light. Drogon's black and red belongs on a dark setup.
Are these official Game of Thrones products?
HBO didn't make them, and neither George R. R. Martin nor Warner Bros. Discovery has approved them. Padrift creates these Westeros-inspired designs independently and prints each pad on request.
