About this design
Peonies, lotus and blossoming branches spread edge to edge across this chinoiserie mahjong mat, songbirds and butterflies scattered through the soft blue garden. Coral, cream and pink blooms layer over pale cloud scrolls. A navy and gold floral border with a small center rosette frames the whole all-over design.
On a set table it reads like laying a garden across the surface. The soft blue ground keeps tiles readable, and the even, all-over layout gives every seat the same generous view. Guests find a new bird or butterfly each time they look.
Drawn in a lush chinoiserie style, the design fills the field with peony, lotus, camellia and blossom, threaded with songbirds and butterflies over a pale blue ground. Rather than a single medallion, the pattern repeats evenly, with a navy border containing it, so the whole surface stays balanced and the tiles read clearly.
