Tree of Life Mahjong Mat - Mah Jongg Mat

The details
A mahjong mat is the soft, stable foundation of a good game — and this one makes any table ready in seconds. The smooth micro-woven fabric surface lets tiles shuffle quietly instead of clattering, keeps painted tile faces free of scratches, and holds your walls exactly where you build them.
Underneath, a non-slip rubber base grips the table so nothing slides mid-game. Pick the size that fits your table: M (60x60 cm / 23.5 in) for smaller tables and travel, or L (81x81 cm / 31.5 in) for a full four-rack American mah jongg game on a standard card table.
01 / 05Built for play
The heart of this neoprene mahjong mat is its micro-woven fabric top. Tiles shuffle with a soft, quiet rustle instead of a clatter, painted tile faces stay free of scratches, and your walls keep their shape from the first deal to the last hand.
02 / 05Fits your table
Every mahjong table mat comes in two square sizes: M (60 x 60 cm / 23.5 in) for smaller tables, cozy corners and travel — and L (81 x 81 cm / 31.5 in), the full playing field most American mah jongg groups choose, with room for four racks, four walls and the discard pile.
03 / 05Made to last
Reinforced double-stitched borders keep this mah jongg mat sharp through years of weekly games. No fraying, no curling, no peeling — the edges stay as neat as the day it arrived, even with frequent rolling, storage and travel.
04 / 05Just right
Three millimeters is the sweet spot for a mahjong playing mat: cushioned enough that tiles lift easily and the tabletop stays protected, yet low-profile enough that racks sit steady and the whole field stays flat and even.
05 / 05Rock solid
The textured natural rubber backing grips wood, glass and felt tables alike, so your mahjong mat stays planted through enthusiastic shuffles and the busiest Charleston — no creeping mat, no drifting walls, no chasing the field.
Everything you need to know about our mahjong mats.
Yes. The cushioned micro-woven surface absorbs the clatter of shuffling and turns it into a soft rustle — you can hold a conversation while the walls are being built.
Two square sizes: 23.5 x 23.5 in (60 x 60 cm) and 31.5 x 31.5 in (81 x 81 cm). Both are made for four-player games with room for walls, hands and discards.
Most groups pick the 31.5 in mat for a standard card table — it holds four racks comfortably. The 23.5 in version suits smaller tables, tighter corners and games that travel.
Yes. Our custom mahjong mat builder takes any width and height from 15.7 to 39.4 in (40 to 100 cm), to the millimetre, printed with your own image. A custom size is cut by hand with square corners and stitched in black after printing, so its stitching isn't printed in your design's colours like on the two standard sizes. Keep faces, text and logos at least 0.6 in (1.5 cm) in from every edge.
Yes. The field is sized with racks in mind, and the grippy surface keeps your wall standing right in front of your rack through the Charleston and beyond.
No. The fabric top gives tiles just enough grip: they slide when you push them and stay put when you stack them, so walls hold their shape.
No. The textured natural rubber base grips wood, glass and felt alike, so the mat stays planted through the most enthusiastic shuffles.

About this design
A flowering tree of life rises at the center of this tree of life mahjong mat, its branches heavy with pomegranates, peonies, tulips and berries, while peacocks, a stag and a rabbit gather at its roots among wildflowers. Butterflies and dragonflies drift through the golden ground, framed by a scrolling floral band and a deep teal leaf-and-flower border.
It reads like a woven tapestry. The warm gold ground keeps tiles easy to read, the tree and animals sit low and central, and the dense border frames the play like an old wall hanging. Guests take in the whole scene before they reach for a tile.
The tree is painted branch by branch with fruit and blossoms in the Indo-Persian tree-of-life tradition, the peacocks, deer and hare rendered in rich earth tones at its base. A floral scroll band frames the panel, and the outer teal border runs leaves and flowers corner to corner. Detail fills the canopy but leaves reading room where hands move between rounds. A full tree-of-life tapestry is what carries this design.
Neoprene construction, smooth fabric top, non-slip rubber base. The soft surface quiets the shuffle and protects tile faces. Walls stay put. Racks, jokers and dice hold steady on the low-friction top, and dye-sublimation printing sets the color deep in the fabric so nothing cracks or fades through years of play.
The 23.5" x 23.5" (60 x 60 cm) is a compact square for smaller tables, tight corners and travel to the club. The 31.5" x 31.5" (81 x 81 cm) is the full-size field most groups pick for a standard card table, with room for four walls, four racks and the discard pile. Size up if your foursome likes room.
Brush it off after the last hand, wipe with a damp cloth if the night got lively, and keep it stored rolled, never folded.
